Funny you should mention German Shepard. My Parents had them throughout my childhood. When I retired from the Army in ’15 I had two Mastiff and a Cane Corso /Bulldog mix all have since passed away.
Some a-hole dropped a German Pointer off at a road junction a couple miles from my house and being a softy for dogs I took him in. So I went from having dogs being laid back and taking naps to.a dog with near constant energy/play drive.

I love dogs and I do enjoy playing and training them as well as just hanging out with them and watching their antics.
What I don’t love so much is this lovable guy getting all up in my grits when I am outside working. Had to teach him about catching a Kong frisbee to distract him and wear him out before I start. That works for maybe 45 minutes of work then we ‘must’ play again. Once he started the frisbee it is as if it cures cancer, he would play with it until he passed out from exhaustion. The guy can catch though, like the dog version of Randy Moss.
Most of my dogs have been semi-laid back, usually rescues. The current two are both half Jack Russell.
Not sure ‘laid back’ would apply to most Jack Russell Terrier.
Mastiff as a breed are super laid back (not lazy). They generally don’t bark b/c they ain’t scared of most things other dogs are. They are instinctively protective doing a lot of simple things other breeds must be trained to do. They patrol the perimeter of their domain and move between their human(s) and anything they can’t rule out as a potential threat using their size to block and intimidate.
If you have children a Mastiff is a great choice as combo companion animal and protection. Not a whole lot of folks want to mess with a 150+ lbs female or 180+lbs male Mastiff once they see them and when they do decide to angry/warning bark it sounds like a thunder clap before the end of the world.

A few years back I was unloading the truck from the passenger door side and turned around to be face to face with a momma moose and her new calf… oh boy…. into the cab and close the door! A little while later I drove down to the PO and there were the cow and calf… and shock of shocks… 5 dogs. Usually dogs go nuts but moose and dogs were sooooo laid back. Everybody was cool. Wow.

Alabama Supreme CT ruled that embryos created for IVF are legal persons under Bama law (we banned abortion). The ruling was not nearly what the leftist are playing it up to be. It centered on the question of the deliberate destruction of embryos and the pro abortion leftists are using that to scare folks.
Somehow, I knew it would be about infanticide in one form or another.
Well, yes, you are correct.
But by making no differentiation between a mere fertilized egg and one implanted in a (real woman’s or (it’ll eventually happen) artificial uterus) the court made IVF as it’s done now illegal. Currently the procedure consists of fertilizing multiple harvested eggs and then selecting one or more that looks viable for implantation, flushing or freezing the rest (frozen ones eventually to be donated to another wanabe mom or also flushed when money to keep them frozen runs out.).
Further, most Morning After Pills work by making the any fertilized egg unable to implant in the uterus. So this ruling makes MAPs illegal if all abortions are illegal.
Not quite. The morning after pill aka plan B work by preventing/delaying ovulation so there’s no fertilization taking place and thus no embryo.. Those are fine in Alabama.
The other sort such as using RU486 after fertilization are prohibited in Alabama. The key distinction is if the method/medication functions as a contraceptive, if so then totes legal in Alabama.
The IVF ruling in Alabama does prohibit the intentional destruction of embryos so if the process is to use a.shotgun method and grab X number of fertilized eggs (an embryo), choose one or two for implantation and then purposefully destroy the remaining embryos that’s what the CT ruled against.
I would note that the Alabama Legislature is making adjustments to clarify that IVF procedures are exempted from criminal and civil liability. Both the Alabama House and Senate passed companion legislation and it is going to the Gov for.signature.

Well, Trump sent out an absolutely bizarre (since deleted) tweet congratulating himself for the Covid ‘vaccine and then the GOP picked the younger, female version of Richard Shelby to give an absolutely cringe-worthy response to Biden’s address. Great job guys.
Off all the people the GOP could have picked – like Greg Abbott or Ken Paxton – they instead pick a little girl who’s bought and paid for by corporate interests who has never fought a battle in the culture war, much less won one. If any group of people could lose to Biden & Harris again, it’s this group of people.

I though Sen Britt provided a nice contrast to Biden in both form and substance. Putting up a 40 year old female Senator from Alabama to deliver the rebuttal from her kitchen was IMO very smart. The choice seemed to be trying to broaden the base by working to show indy/soft GoP female voters that the GoP ain’t just ‘scary, white male extremists’ but also women who worry about kitchen table issues and have a career, an education and children who can ID the various problems we face.
Britt was invited to deliver the rebuttal to attract the suburban housewife voting bloc that Trump lost hands down in 2020. She was nervous at the start of her talk, but I thought she recovered and came across as strong and forceful. I liked her.

The speech was a long incoherent rant by an angry old man-think of Archie Bunker on steroids-and was red meat for the Democratic base. It was nowhere near a State of the Union Address which is traditionally bipartisan sppech and definitely an embarassment to anyone familiar with American history when compared to such great presidential addresses as those of FDR, JFK and Lincoln.
It was an embarrassing partisan rant where an elderly man with a poor memory tries to pass-off his failures as accomplishments.
The speech was what the Democrat base needed to hear. The media will lap it up like to good propagandists they are. The speech wasn’t for us or anyone else capable of rubbing two functioning brain cells together.
And of course he managed to not completely fall off the stage like the dementia sufferer he is. So Democrats will take that as a win 😂
