Biden Border Crisis: Texas Railways at International Crossings Suspended Due to Migrant Surge

“After observing a recent resurgence of smuggling organizations moving migrants through Mexico via freight trains, CBP is taking additional actions to surge personnel and address this concerning development, including in partnership with Mexican authorities.”

Remember the video of thousands of migrants trying to catch a train in Mexico to the border?

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has suspended all railways at international crossings due to migrant surges in Eagle Pass, TX.

“After observing a recent resurgence of smuggling organizations moving migrants through Mexico via freight trains, CBP is taking additional actions to surge personnel and address this concerning development, including in partnership with Mexican authorities,” CBP wrote in a statement.

“Beginning December 18 2023 at 8:00 AM local time, CBP’s Office of Field Operations will temporarily suspend operation at the international railway crossing bridges in Eagle Pass and El Paso, Texas in order to redirect personnel to assist the U.S. Border Patrol with taking migrants into custody,” continued CBP.

Much attention has shifted to Arizona, but Eagle Pass, TX, remains a busy crossing spot.

On Sunday, Jorge Ventura showed over 2,000 migrants waiting for processing in Eagle Pass.

The line is still growing.

CBP sources told Ali Bradley that December will likely set record numbers.

Border patrol encountered 130,000 migrants the first 17 days of November.

The first 17 days of December? 167,000.

The majority of the December crossings occurred in the Tucson sector, mainly in Lukeville. We’ve posted the videos published by Bradley and other journalists of migrants cutting through the border wall and sneaking in.

The agents apprehended over 10,000 migrants every day last week, including 11,000 on Friday. Sunday *only* saw over 9,900.

Biden Border Crisis

This is NOT a border crisis. This is “Biden’s Invasion”. That is what it is intended to be and that is what it is. Biden and his junta are orchestrating an invasion of America. That is treason.

This is not a “crisis”. It’s a crime – the worst crime.

Tell your liberal friends they can have Affordable Housing or an Open Border. They cannot have both.

Or as Milton Friedman succinctly explained in taking the WSJ to task ‘It’s just obvious you cannot have free immigration (open borders) and a welfare state’ (transfer state).

It’s not sustainable. A quick look at the ‘sanctuary Cities’ recent antics in trying to have both pretty convincingly demonstrates that it will not work b/c there’s simply not enough funding nor in these deep blue ‘sanctuary’ enclaves any room to raise taxes before hitting diminishing returns. Raise taxes high enough and the most productive members who are taxed at the highest rates will relocate and deny 100% of their taxes to their former locality.

Yes, but Friedman supported having the former and not the latter.

I’ll take your word for that Milhouse but without the latter the character of the former will drastically change, both in numbers and in the nature of the immigrants. I suspect that is why Friedman would make that choice.

The lack of a welfare state would limit immigrants to those who can be self supporting immediately. Or those with relatives who can help. My grandmother sponsored numerous immigrants back in 1920’s. Her sponsorship was required for the move. How many of these new invaders would come here without being able to rely on extreme govt largess?
One fun thing though is watching the Democrats beclown themselves while alienating their most reliable voters.

A few years back a good friend of mine went to Brasil on a mission project, met and married a good man there. When they tried to cmie back to the States, he could only get a 90 day visitors visa, despite being lawfully married to an American Citizen. They tried hard to get da gummit to allow him to stay. They demanded “sponsors”, but none of those who volunteered “qualified”. Theyball had good jobs, owned their own homes, etc, and had the income. INS refused them all. So, she moved to Brasil to be with her husband.
Now they let trainloads in, coddle them with shelter, food, transportation, “free” (to them) money out of OUR tax pockets.Aiding and abetting an enemy sort of sounds like a good description of what’s going on.

They are literally everywhere in Texas and Abbott STILL won’t shut the border down

Milhouse in reply to gonzotx. | December 19, 2023 at 1:52 am

How’s he supposed to do that, exactly? He tried barriers in the river; they were removed. What else can he do?

CommoChief in reply to Milhouse. | December 19, 2023 at 8:38 am

The surest legal path for Abbott is to reinstate inspection sites on the Texas side for commercial and passenger traffic. The problem with this is that while it definitely gets the attention of Mexico due to the financial hit it also impacts companies in TX who are the counter parties to the Mexican trade and/or employers.

Alternatively he could attempt to pursue the State power under the Constitution to defend itself from ‘invasion or such imminent danger as will not admit delay’. IMO, this is less than sure footing. First off it has been going on for a while, is the continuance of an ongoing event ‘imminent’? Maybe/Maybe not. Secondly is it an ‘invasion’? For a % of the folks coming across sure, the cartel operatives and likely other bad actors are either State Sponsored or acting at the behest of transnational entities/non State actors. Some dude from Senegal or El Salvador who is an economic migrant posing as refugee to enter a false asylum claim? Maybe not.

The second option being pursued in CT would at least force the Biden Admin to go on the record about a number of related issues. It might have the effect of forcing the Biden Admin into a position of claiming ‘the State of TX, can not do this, only the Fed Gov can do this’ while simultaneously claiming that the Fed gov’t has no duty to defend the border. May win legally but that’s a losing argument politically. Perhaps best for TX to do both simultaneously. Other States will need to step up to support both actions.

quote is the continuance of an ongoing event ‘imminent’?

Simple solution: treat each separate incursion as an imminent event. Problem solved. Whether it a busload, a trainload, or onesie twosie walking across, each incursion is a separate new event.

CommoChief in reply to Tionico. | December 19, 2023 at 3:33 pm

You don’t need to convince me, you have to coax 5 votes out of SCOTUS. They gonna be a much tougher sell. Also gonna have to pry the Fed Gov’t hands off their current exclusive control of immigration. For some reason the Fed Gov’t exclusive control over ‘naturalization’ which is an explicit grant of constitutional power has morphed into control of ‘immigration’. Two closely related activities but they ain’t equivalent.

    Lying again, as usual.

Keep sending them to Martha’s Vineyard! Why did they stop after only one try?

I once was told by a Texan that under their state constitution, being that they were a sovereign nation before entering the union in 1830’s they have the right to secede from the union. Wouldn’t that be interesting if it’s doable?

Texas need to launch an YUUUGE lawsuit enjoining FedGov/Biden for failing to uphold their CONSTITUTIONAL obligation to “repel foreign invasion”. One of the few and clearly named duties of FedGov. Name Dopey Joey as one of the respondents. Probablyhead of Homeland Security, and Dept of State as co-respondents.
Demand an order from the court that the situation be immediately dealt with er the laws, and if it does not get handled then arrest/detain the respondents in person until they take suitable action to make it happen.

Or, maybe Abbott could just sign a bill making it a state crime.

Brandon found a gesture that won’t help the problem, but looks good, and disrupts commerce for the little folks.

His policy folks did yoemans’ work on this one.
