UPenn Jewish Students: Magill Resignation Not Enough, More Work to be Done
“At the end of the day, we want to see more change”
These students are correct. Magill’s departure should be a beginning, not an end.
The New York Post reports:
Jewish students at UPenn say Magill’s resignation isn’t enough: ‘A lot still needs to change’
Jewish students at the University of Pennsylvania said the resignation of President Liz Magill and Chairman Scott Bok was not enough to make them feel safe following a series of antisemitic incidents, arguing that further “change” at the school was necessary.
“There’s a realization that one step is over,” junior Akiva Berkowitz told USA Today outside of Steinhardt Hall, home to the school’s Hillel club. “But the process is not and I don’t want people to think this is the end.”
The student was reacting to Magill and Bok’s resignation on Saturday, adding: “Many things still need to happen. A lot still needs to change.”
Sophomore Jack Cohen said despite Magill and Bok’s resignation, “It’s not comfortable here” and demanded that more be done.
“At the end of the day, we want to see more change,” he said. “We want to feel more supported.
“‘Change’ is the key word — change for the better.”
Jewish students at the Ivy League institution have previously called out school officials for doing nothing while they experienced several antisemitic incidents.
In September, one month before Hamas launched its surprise attack on Israel, pro-Palestinian student groups hosted a weekend literature festival on the campus billed as an event to “explore the richness and diversity of Palestinian culture.”
But the event — which featured more than 100 speakers — also hosted some who have been accused of pushing antisemitic agendas, including one person who called for “death to Israel.”

More work to be done. Throwing that phrase back in the face of the woke progressive lefties. Not matter what concessions were made to the BLM + DEI crybullies, they always responded with there’s ‘more work to be done’. Karma.
Yes, and demanding “support”. I like it.
It seems a little unfair, seeing that Penn did much more than Harvard and MIT, but that’s how these things work. Win by any means necessary.
But you just know that they will replace her with someone with worse attributes and competence, say, from a small midwest college which has had some recent controversy.
These people are like advanced school superintendents. Their economic model is based on failure. They get a 3 year contract. Year 2 is spent looking for a new job because they are being ousted for poor performance. They collect year 3 as a parting gift while they are taking a salary at their new job, with a 3 year contract, which they got due to glowing recommendation from the previous system trying to get rid of them. wash, rinse, repeat 10X and then retire. No one ever really seems to dig in too deeply as to exactly why they are the former superintendent of XYZ school system. Or maybe hiring an incompetent was the plan all along. We are well past where coincidence can explain these events.
I didn’t know you lived in my school district.
