Michigan Gov. Whitmer Repeals Law Restricting Health Insurance for Abortions

“Let’s keep protecting every Michigander’s fundamental freedom to make their own decision about their own body.” You know, except for the unborn human being. They don’t get a say about what happens to their body.

Gross.

Pro-abortion Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer repealed a law that restricted health insurance coverage for abortions exactly ten years after she, as Senate minority leader, stood against the law.

“Ten years ago today, I was in the Michigan Senate, fighting against an unconscionable anti-choice bill that would have forced Michiganders to pay extra for insurance every month just in case they were raped or had an unwanted pregnancy,” Whitmer declared. “I shared my own story as a survivor of sexual assault and noted that any decision about a woman’s body ought to be hers alone. Exactly ten years later, I am proud to be repealing that same bill as governor.”

The law banned health insurance companies from including elective abortions as a standard feature.

The health insurance companies could offer it an insurance rider.

An insurance rider is a “provision that adds benefits to or amends the terms of a basic insurance policy.”

Seven health insurance companies in Michigan offered the add-on policy for small and large-group employer plans. It costs the “employers a penny and 32 cents a month per employee.”

In Whitmer’s speech ten years ago, she recounted how someone raped her in college. It did not end in a pregnancy. Only 5% of rapes of women of reproductive age lead to a pregnancy.

The vast majority of abortions do not have anything to do with rape or risks to the mother.

Despite those facts, Whitmer described it as “rape insurance.”

Now, those in Michigan could pay for abortion coverage even if they oppose it.

The bill is part of a nine-bill package protecting abortion in Michigan because, for some reason, the left is obsessed with doctors killing babies. (Remember, a lot of women who have abortions do not want to do it. They’re either forced or alone and think it’s the only way to go. Most are not ghouls like Gloria Steinem, who loves to shout her abortion.)

Whitmer has already proven she’s pro-abortion because she loves to demonize emergency pregnancy centers, which, God forbid, shows women that they are not alone and help is everywhere.

The pro-abortion governor called them “fake health clinics.”

Whitmer added: “I am proud that in just over 18 months, we have gone from the repeal of Roe v. Wade to expanding reproductive freedom in Michigan with the passage of Proposal 3 and the Reproductive Health Act. Let’s keep protecting every Michigander’s fundamental freedom to make their own decision about their own body.”

I guess the unborn human being doesn’t get a say in what happens to their body.

Abortion isn’t likely to replace birth control. It’s birth control failure insurance. That’s a medical sort of thing.

I would believe that more if there were fewer women with multiple abortions. Last I knew it was 50% of women getting abortions have had at least one prior abortion. That is using abortion as birth control.

I just got through listening to a commercial where a woman said she got four abortions before some pro-life group convinced her she was killing a human being. She decided to “keep” her fifth baby. I wonder how she’s going to explain to her fifth child where all her other siblings are.

It is used as primary control for some. That isn’t a medical sort of thing.

It’s only “a medical sort of thing” for the fewer than 5% of abortions that are classified as “medically necessary.”

The best birth control is, as ever, abstinence. But saying that has become every bit as taboo in politically correct circles as saying that all lives matter.

Never understood the left who believe its okay to kill the innocent, but the death penalty for murders is inhumane.

BAze – US supreme court where the dissent was that it was cruel and unusual punishment if there was any possibility of pain, yet it was an undue burden to require pain medication for the baby that was being killed.

Lots of them don’t want you to defend yourself from a criminal but immediately run to talking about the tiny minority of ab0rtions to save the life of the mother. Even though those would certainly remain legal.

“Let’s keep protecting every Michigander’s fundamental freedom to make their own decision about their own body.”

Unless it’s forced vaccination or wearing a mask of course. Cruella Whitmer is such an awful person.

BTW: “Stretchen Gretchen” was well known in college to not be overly picky, in fact, quite the contrary. May I throw the flag on the fake rape story? Yes, I may.

“the left is obsessed with doctors killing babies”? Uh, the majority of female voters are obsessed with abortion and empower the abortionists to force this garbage down everyone’s throat. Don’t get it but unless you can reach them, this vile trend won’t stop.

She’s an evil woman

These ghouls really should not be allowed to keep describing abortion as “reproduction”. It is, as we all know, the exact opposite. Every time one of these lowlifes calls abortion “reproductive” they should be correct with shouts of “anti-reproductive” or, even better, “destructive”.

Let’s keep protecting every Michigander’s fundamental freedom to make their own decision about their own body.”

The woman is free to get any medical care for HER DNA that is allowed to anyone by law. “Her body” only includes her DNA … by definition.

“Every time one of these lowlifes calls abortion “reproductive” they should be correct with shouts of “anti-reproductive” or, even better, “destructive”.”

How about murder? Keep it simple.

Percentage of abortions in Michigan attributed to women identifying as non-white/other in 2022: 64.1%.

Percentage of black females vis a vis all abortions in Michigan: 54%

Jesus, Joseph, and Mary, if Lady Mengele were, in reality, secretly implementing a non-white population control plan devised by the Ku Klux Klan, what would she being doing differently?

For over 100 years, Margaret Sanger’s New Clothes have been acclaimed by Democrats and the MSM, who dare not express what they can clearly see it’s really made of.

Whats wrong with offering abortion coverage as extra rider?

Why should people who don’t want it, for religious or other reasons, be required to pay for it?

ThePrimordialOrderedPair | December 11, 2023 at 9:42 pm

No choice allowed for people to opt out of abortion coverage. Typical.

Communists all over Michigan.
The state motto should read – “Come to Michigan, you can kill your baby”.

She puts the B in Bitch.

The voters of Michigan re-elected, and elections have consequences.

Does the new legal context mean insurance companies must cover abortion costs in medical insurance, or is it still up to companies to decide whether they include it or not? If it’s a net loss item, why wouldn’t companies opt out?

Abortion is murder.

Questions?

You know the easiest way to solve questions like moral issues on what your premiums pay for?

Remove the regulations that almost require you to obtain your medical insurance through your employer. And definitely remove the requirement to get it through the gov’t (if you don’t have it otherwise). And the mass of regulations that basically make it necessary for you to even work through insurance to obtain medical care.

If you just let people take care of it on their own and make the arrangements they want, it would solve the whole problem.

Pro-abortion Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer repealed a law that restricted health insurance coverage for abortions

The law did not restrict anything. People who wanted abortion coverage had to say so and pay for it.

The headline is deceptive. The executive cannot repeal laws.

She will sign a bill that the MI legislature has passed. There is a difference.

Don’t get me wrong, Whitmer is a wicked person, but insofar as the Supremes threw abortion policy back to the states where it belongs, their legislature has every right to pass laws that their constituents wish.
