In Wake of Planned ‘Pro-Palestine’ Protests, Newsom Makes California’s Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony Virtual

“Newsom can’t control his state, so he takes away privileges from his citizens and keeps them for himself.”

I must admit, part of me is dreading the start of 2024.

During the last presidential election year, the nation was forced to endure Black Lives Matter “protests,”…which seemed more like excuses for rioting, looting, and race-based mayhem.

The disruptors got their orders, funding, and plans together earlier this time and aren’t even waiting until the New Year. And this season’s disruption is heavily anti-Israel and antisemitic.

As noted previously by my colleague Mike LaChance, the emerging anti-Israel tactic is the targeting of the annual Christmas tree lighting ceremonies.

Pro-Palestine organizers have already hit New York City’s famous Rockefeller Center tree ceremony and one in Ypsilanti, Michigan.

After returning from a dreadful debate performance against Florida’s Gov. Ron DeSantis, California Gov. Gavin Newsom was probably disinclined to look any weaker.

Newsom also probably does not want to respond in any way that could be construed as taking a side in the schism that has occurred in the Democratic Party as it relates to support for Israel and its justified response to the Oct. 7th attacks. After all, he is auditioning for the post-Biden president role.

Therefore, when reports indicated that pro-Palestine/anti-Israel protests were slated to occur during the annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony in Sacramento, Newsom made the event virtual.

In an abrupt shift of plans, California’s annual holiday tree lighting at the Capitol was postponed a day and moved online, a change state officials attributed to potential protests.

The event had been planned as a public gathering Tuesday night but was rescheduled to a pre-recorded, virtual ceremony that will be streamed Wednesday evening, according to a statement from Gov. Gavin Newsom’s office.

“As we continue to see protests across the country impacting the safety of events of all scales — and for the safety and security of all participating members and guests including children and families — the ceremony this year will be virtual,” a spokesperson for the governor’s office said in a statement.

The protesting groups are bitterly clinging to the term “genocide” in their screed against Israel’s justifiable actions to destroy Hamas. Laughably, one group took Newsom to task by referring to Native Americans.

The announcement comes as the Sacramento Regional Coalition for Palestinian Rights said it planned to rally and march to the state Capitol Tuesday night to call for a cease-fire in the war between Israel and Hamas. In an advisory to KCRA 3, the group said it wanted to “out Gov. Gavin Newsom for hiding from the public because he doesn’t want to face their anger at his shameful stance in regard to the genocide in Gaza.”

“Governor Newsom decided to cancel the tree lighting ceremony rather than face the public that is enraged by his shameful silence on the genocide in Gaza. This certainly doesn’t add up with his past stance with Native Americans,” said Yassar Dahbour of Sacramento Regional Coalition for Palestinian Rights.

Democrats: Their melting pot is so overheated with victim-status rhetoric that it is bubbling over and splattering on the party leaders.

Newsom was slammed on social media by those who were angry that a joyous annual celebration of the Christmas season was changed due to fear.

‘What message does that send that they are afraid to celebrate Christmas? Newsom is a loser,’ one commented.

‘This sums it up nicely. Newsom can’t control his state, so he takes away privileges from his citizens and keeps them for himself. Like we all knew he would,’ another disappointed user wrote.

‘Maybe he shouldn’t allow these pro-Palestinian movements to run rampant in the streets and they could have their planned events,’ a third commented.

Children don’t get enough of sparkle from online activities…the experience of a virtual Christmas tree is on par with a streaming broadcast of a roaring fire. There is no magic in it.

2024 is shaping up to be one long year of protest drama, turmoil, and pathetic leadership.

I will head to Mass often in the next few weeks, seeking strength and serenity… and maybe putting some prepping items on my Christmas wish list. I should really stock up on some arrows.

Ideally, he’d hsve the standard, real lighting ceremony, and there would be enough men, Christian or not, there to give the troublemakers the beatdown of their lives.

Rubber bullets first, and if still necessary lead.

We went to the JC tree lighting Sunday after Thanksgiving and saw no protesters. An hour before hand you could also find no parking either. I had a chuckle at a tshirt in a store front that said “Don’t California my Tennessee”

A part of me was curious as to how a protest would go down if they showed up in what is fast becoming not a small town.

Maybe a “mostly peaceful” riot should be allowed. We can watch a Christmas Tree turned into a Yule Log.

Dhimmitude

In the spirt of Christmas, arrest them and let them spend Christmas in Jail.

Arrest them, then forget where they are for a month or so. Sorta like how Ham-Ass did it with the women and children they abducted, sodomized, then tortured. They still don’t know what they did with all of the women and children they captured.

But they do know that ramming their dirty penis into women and children’s anus was fun for them.

Parading innocent people through the streets, bleeding from their anus, was fun for them.

Cutting out unborn children from their wombs and burning them was fun for them.

Torturing innocent children was fun for them.

Yes. I am being graphic. We need to fully understand the rot that these savages are, and what their supporters agree to when they insist on “From the river to the sea.”

Better 2-3 years so that they end up bankrupt, I am just thinking about J6.

It’s California — there’s plenty of room at THAT inn.

Yet protests are never virtual. Funny that.

BLM, Antifa, Mudslime terrorists, et al. Every time they make demands and protests, we back up to placate them.

Whether it is burning down our cities, assaulting conservatives for exercising our Constitutional rights, blocking traffic and putting lives in jeopardy, urban gun violence, mass looting at our places of business, assaults on public transportation or on the streets, you name it.

We, the true peaceful people, are always expected to back up and make room for the rot in this society to have their room for destruction.

At some point, we will be pushed too far, and then the peaceful among us will no longer be peaceful.

Yet our government never holds these shitbags to account. But we will be arrested by protecting ourselves and our family.

Lefties in CA have long been trying to remove symbolic references to christianity in the public square. Newscum removed the state of missionary junipero serra in sacramento. He probably felt embarrassed to be photographed standing next to the tree, and has been looking for opportunity to phase it out.

What a wimp. And he thinks he’s man enough to make the tough decisions in the Oval Office?

henrybowman in reply to Dagwood. | December 7, 2023 at 1:40 pm

    Why would he think that?
He’s seen three years of the Brandon Muppet.
He knows he’ll never be called on to make any decisions.

To go virtual makes Christmas tree lighting more like the holy spirit.

If Republicans were smart they’d run campaign commercials of him being a chicken and caving to terrorist supporters.

Along with commercials for any other politician that did the same thing.

    AF_Chief_Master_Sgt in reply to TheOldZombie. | December 7, 2023 at 11:12 am

If voters were smart, they wouldn’t elect spineless politicians like this.

But keep in mind that the average person is the point where half of the electorate is below average.

These Pale protests are as much about trying to raise Islam over all others. Islam really is like a cult. It should be treated as such, Every time they disrupt other religion’s events, they should suffer the same x10. Beat them down. Allowing them to get away with shit only serves to encourage more shit.

Newscum locked down the churches first during the pandemic. Forced them to meet outdoors in parking lots. As woke progressive leftie he considers the church to be part of oppressor culture, that gets in the way of his agenda to make CA sanctuary state for trans groomers, and other leftie priorities.

I can’t keep up with all of this woke crap. For decades public squares eschewed Christmas trees in favor of Menorah lights in order to assuage litigious Hebrew Hanukkah fanciers. Now Christmas trees show pro-Israel sentiment?

I think the common stance in public squares was to display both menorahs and Christmas trees, which is entirely reasonable to me as a reflection of the U.S.’s Judeo-Christian heritage, as well as Jesus’s own origins as an ethnic and religious Jew. Can you offer an example of a situation where a town or city rejected a Christmas tree display in favor of a menorah display, exclusively? I’ve never heard of this happening.

Newton Square, Worcester MA. Also, I’m a big fan of employing the apostrophe and s after names ending in s- something often done wrong. But, in the case of historical figures, such as Jesus, it is incorrect.

E Howard Hunt in reply to guyjones. | December 7, 2023 at 11:42 am

Also, the country’s heritage is Christian; not Judeo-Christian- another bullshit term.

This is an excellent example of how the woke/leftist bullies operate to achieve their goals. They convince the weak minded to give up and run away instead of confronting them head on. The neo Marxist woke ideologues will happily win by forfeit every time those who say that they oppose their ideology fail to demonstrate the courage of their convictions. It’s how they have managed to make the gains they have achieved b/c many choose to ignore it or stood by passively and let it happen without doing much to block it.
