House Votes to Censure Rep. Rashida Tlaib Over Anti-Israel Comments, Including 22 Democrats
“If this is not worthy of censure, what is? When you can call for the annihilation of a country and its people, if that’s not worthy of a censure, what is?”
The rhetoric and behavior of Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) since the October 7 attacks on Israel by Hamas have been terrible. She has not only been anti-Israel and anti-Semitic, she has pushed lies.
Now she has been censured by the House.
FOX News reports:
House votes to censure Rashida Tlaib over anti-Israel comments
The House of Representatives has voted to censure Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., in a 234 – 188 vote on Tuesday night.
The punishment, while largely symbolic, was a formal public rebuke of her most recent anti-Israel comments made in the wake of the Jewish nation’s war against terror group Hamas.
Twenty-two Democrats voted with 212 Republicans to censure Tlaib. Four GOP lawmakers voted against the measure. Four lawmakers voted present. The measure was introduced by freshman Rep. Rich McCormick, R-Ga., on Monday.
“If this is not worthy of censure, what is? When you can call for the annihilation of a country and its people, if that’s not worthy of a censure, what is?” McCormick said on the House floor Tuesday.
In the text of his resolution, the Georgia Republican accused Tlaib of “promoting false narratives regarding the October 7, 2023, Hamas attack on Israel and for calling for the destruction of the state of Israel.”

Some members of the ‘Squad’ including Tlaib had a meltdown on the House floor over this today.

Cori Bush just went on what is probably the most unhinged rant I've ever seen in Congress on the censure resolution of Rashida Tlaib.
She even refused to stop after the mic was cut off. pic.twitter.com/yon1HfFEaP

Sounds like she and her supporters did not want to address the issue of her racism, but tried to turn it back on the rest of Congress.
Since she is still belligerent it seems likely she will run her yaps some more, next time impeachment.
Wow. I guess this means the Rs will sweep next November.
Not based on the results of the 2022 and 2023 elections. As of now, it looks like a walking corpse mumbling “abortion” could beat the Republicans …. and that is what the Dems are going with.
Queue “speaking truth to power” after the Pelosi-Schiff intermission.
The only interesting questions are whether the power brokers really want to get rid of Biden, whether they will succeed, and whether this would be a good thing.
Anti-Israel comments are up to her and her constituents, not her colleagues.
Everybody’s pandering here.
Except they reflect on anyone who voted against the resolution. This is politics, not logic.
Tlaib’s constituents were censured.
She seems to spend more time campaigning for Palestinians than she does for Americans.
You just hit the nail on the head ! Her ONLY real allegiance is to Palestine, not
America. When she was sworn into office as a representative in Congress, she
wore the Palestinian flag around her waist. That should tell you all you need
to know about this disgusting woman !
It’s not “pandering”, it’s showing a shred of decency by censuring a member’s speech that is absolutely reprehensible.
Suppose a congressman were to express support for the KKK, and say they were in the right all along, and all the people they lynched got what they deserved, do you not think they would be censured?
Ask ChatGPT: Who else has been censured by the House in the past ?
The House of Representatives has censured several members of Congress in the past. Here are some examples:
…
2. Pete Rose: In 1990, the House censured Pete Rose, a former baseball player, for betting on baseball games while he was a player and manager.
God, she is ugly.
Inside and out, she rivals Abrams. Both are hideous.
Air drop her into Gaza. The bombs can drown out her rants.
“Now she has been censured by the House.”
Now, expel this person from the HoR, then deport her to Gaza.
Expelling her would require a 2/3 vote, which is obviously not on the cards. Also, there is no history of a member ever being expelled merely for saying bad things. Since the Civil War only two members have been expelled, both only after having been convicted of multiple felonies. Expelling her would defy that tradition and open the door for many more expulsions. It would cheapen the sanction, so there is no chance of it happening.
There is one point to holding a vote for expulsion, even though it cannot get a 2/3 majority. It’s to force the greater than 1/3 minority to go on record as “supporting” this disgusting creature.
PS: Of course, even if she were expelled from the House, and even if she were convicted of an actual crime and went to prison, she still could never be expelled from the USA because she’s a US citizen just like anyone else. It’s her country as much as it is ours.
She plays an excellent victim, tears and all, when she is not tossing insults and hating on others.
Canary Mission alleges she has direct ties to Hamas. She should be expelled.

Direct ties are not a crime. So long as she hasn’t given them material support, and nobody is even alleging that she has, there is nothing that would justify expulsion.
That would not surprise me in the least. She HATES Israel, and would not hesitate to hurt them in any way.
OK, to be honest, this means nothing. The only mandatory sequel to the vote is to have the one censured have to stand in the well of the House while the Speaker reads out that they have been censured. No penalty, no downside for any Leftist.
She is a Leftist Muslim, who represents a Leftist Muslim district, that agrees with everything she said. I expect it will turn up in her campaign ads for as long as we have elections and she runs.
