Pittsburgh Public Schools to Instruct Teachers on ‘White Supremacy’ in Math Classes
“will help equip teachers with tools to ‘identify, disrupt and replace’ practices that perpetuate White supremacy”
The city of Pittsburgh has approved a measure to bring in an ‘anti-racist’ workshop that will instruct teachers on white supremacy in math. Every other month, there is a report from some part of the country where students cannot read or do math at grade level.
Maybe this is one of the reasons why. Perhaps we need to stop putting the left’s political indoctrination agenda first and instead focus on the basics.
FOX News reports:
Pittsburgh public schools approve measure to instruct teachers on ‘White supremacy’ in math classes
The Pittsburgh Public Schools Board has voted to hire a consulting group that educates teachers on how to replace “White supremacy culture practices” in math instruction with methods that center on the “wellness of students of color.”
On October 25, the board approved a measure to give Quetzal Education Consulting $50,000 to dismantle racism in math classes.
As reported by The Center Square, the consulting group states that its workshops teach “antiracist math” and will help equip teachers with tools to “identify, disrupt and replace” practices that perpetuate White supremacy.
Ebony Pugh, the Director of Public Relations and Media Content for Pittsburgh Public Schools, confirmed to Fox News Digital that the Board of Directors of the School District of Pittsburgh authorized its offices to enter a contract with Quetzal.
The move will provide the school with “additional foundational knowledge of antiracist math pedagogy and tangible learning experiences that can be implemented with students.”
Dave Huber of the College Fix has taken a closer look at this consulting group:
Quetzal’s homepage is emblazoned with the title “Decolonize. Reclaim. Reimagine” and its stated mission is to “support institutions working to build a legacy of liberatory education with Black and Brown communities through anti-oppression consultation.”
Quetzal offers services such as “antiracist consultation,” “antiracist education,” “disrupting anti-black racism,” and “healing spaces.”
“We’ve been effectively disrupting several forms of oppression in our careers as educators,” Quetzal says on its site. “We have learned how to assess, redistribute and disrupt power dynamics for the purposes of liberation. We remain aware of and connected to our ancestral legacy of genius. Our work honors the ancestral traditions and teachings of Black and Brown freedom fighters who have paved the way for us and future generations.”
Parents in Pittsburgh need to activate and get this garbage out of their schools. Students need to learn basic skills like math and reading and they are being cheated by progressive activists with an agenda.

A Feynman diagram is white supremacy.
Well, that ought to fix the real problems…
Sorry, not meant as a reply to you.
“White Supremacy in Math” is a meaningless phrase. It rivals Steve Martins “Mambo dogface to the banana patch”
Arithmetic was produced by all cultures.
The whole world uses Arabic numerals developed by Arabs and Indians.
Math, Geometry, Calculus, and Trigonometry has been worked out of many centuries by people from many places.
The problem they have with Math is that there is a correct answer and if you don’t do the symbol manipulation correctly you are wrong. There is not sort of correct in Math.
Also, math is kind of like sports in that people either can or they can’t. Turns out, a lot of people can’t.
Especially when you go beyond arithmetic.
Not true, but one hell of a lot of math teachers don’t know how to teach math. The problem really is the teachers and the books.
I agree with the books, but the teachers are products of a poor education themselves. You don’t know what you don’t know.
Good point….. math is “multi-cultural”. Diverse groups have used it, all being inclusive in its use and there is equity in that 2+2=4 across all intersectional groups.
I looked them up. In addition to being unable to do math, they can’t spell.
The hyphen between women and led is not needed grammatically. So failed grammar also.
From their web page:
We are a Black and Brown womxn-led educational consulting firm
There is a lot of that trash in the business of providing “professional development” to teachers.
The only PDs I have ever found useful were either relates to a specific piece of technology or related to de-escalation/safe restraint.
GM Tech center used to hire me to fix their PHD F ups. It seems the skills needed to function well in an academic setting do not align with the workplace.
One time a teacher came to me because she couldn’t get her interactive board to work. It wasn’t plugged in. Not to the wall. Not to her computer.
I once saw a principal use his phone to take a photo of a picture that was emailed to him. So he could save it for later.
I am by no means a technophile, and that made me LOL.
We need to get with the program! Since Whites do better than Blacks in Math, it must be a Racist, White Supremacist subject matter. /s
Guess the next number is the skill worth teaching. It’s used all over in aptitude tests.
1 2 4 8 16 __? Pass the lowest possible degree polynomial through those points and find that the next number is 31.
It works anywhere.
It’s a good math trick. As a trivia geek though, I’d word it as: “Considered the sequence: 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 31. Is there anything wrong here”?
There is to me, but I was taught math in the 1959s and 1960s in an American school. So, I have no idea what you are doing.
The 1959s?! 🙂
Yes. Embrace the concept of typeaux.
:-{)}}}
You don’t actually need to know about polynomials either. Just form a difference triangle, and continue it one diagonal to the right with 0 at the new bottom.
The geometric sequence is 2^n. But as a polynomial in n (rather than n being an exponent) a + bn + cn^2 + dn^3 + en^4 (should be 4th order to pass thru 5 specified points) it might very well pass near 31 rather than 32; I have no idea what such a high order polynomial would look like offhand.
The truth is that white American culture is superior to the ghetto gangster culture that is dominate among poor in er city blacks. Just look at the results.
Truthist !!!
This is not about math or racism
This is how Philadelphia and Gaza indoctrinates mostly black children in the USA and Pals in Mideast to believe that it makes sense to carry out suicide attacks when they become teens
This is Obama’s transformation of America
And it’s taxpayer-financed
The thing that is really hard for white people to wrap their brains around is how much they are envied by nonwhites
“Parents in Pittsburgh need to activate and get this garbage out of their schools.”
No. Parents in Pittsburgh (and elsewhere) need to activate themselves and get their children out of this garbage.
Cultural Marxism straight up, nothing in life can’t be done with race playing a part to those people. It’s a Cultural Marxist Seminary, and they are telling you it is.
Wouldn’t blacks be happier in their own historically black schools? Then they wouldn’t be able to blame other races for the achievement gap.
50% black males don’t finish high school. Blame white people??
Ordinary average black families seem to think that way. In Raleigh NC, the desegregation plan was very unpopular with black families, because they wanted their kids to attend the neighborhood school with a family atmosphere, etc. They weren’t desperate for their kids to sit next to lots of white kids in a crummy “integrated” atmosphere.
But to the race hustlers, they have to have something to disrupt. This group Pittsburgh hired is all about disruption, they say so themselves. But there is apparently a feeling that if it stops whites from getting ahead, that’s some sort of victory, and so they vote that way very consistently.
This will create a long division.
Can we just stop with this nonsense? Why hasn’t anyone challenged the ridiculous notion that an inanimate object or the study of a science can be ‘racist”? Why do we let them get away with this?
I went to talk to the principal in my youngest son’s public elementary school. He was a transfer student, and had been thriving before, and he had an innate talent for math.
He was failing geometry. I found out in the meeting that all the other kids were failing geometry, too. Then, I met the teacher. She was a mouse with a heavy accent, that could not speak up enough to answer any questions.
When the new superintendent met with parents and the new vice principal, she asked what she could do for us, the vice principal said “Get us competent teachers.”
This happened at a feeder school to one of the allegedly best schools in the country. As backstory, the communists in the district decided to strip the good schools of their teachers, and distribute them to the failing schools, with no thought at all to school management. They wrecked the performance of the few good schools they had.
A lot of places put a lot of pressure on competent teachers to quit. Principals seem to want just the right balance of ability to get acceptable test scores but also have little/no self respect.
Makes perfect sense in a culture that has decided that it’s against policy to hire police officers who are too smart.
I’d argue it was intentional. Just as much as they wanted good teachers for themselves, they wanted you to have worse teachers. They wanted to slow your kids down and punish you and your kids.
Here’s the good news – the majority of kids don’t learn much in math classes so they probably won’t learn their racism message.
No, the racism stuff will be so obvious and unavoidable, even those whose heads resemble blocks of wood will learn that if nothing else.
By “disrupting” I think it means preventing the good math students, who will end up being mostly non-black, from moving ahead and trapping them with the “genius legacy” thinking of those kids who were not handling the normal curriculum. Tracking is absolutely something they want to “disrupt”.
But it seems to me, that if a group of kids has a particular “legacy of genius” so that they should approach math differently, it is a win-win to separate the classes so that each group can be taught in the most appropriate way. That’s tracking. Heck even if those genius-legatees never learn the usual math skills but instead some other skills more suited to their legacy of genius, it’s an even stronger argument for separating the classes so that each group can thrive!
Or don’t tell me, it couldn’t mean that they just want to prevent anyone else from learning what they can’t. It can’t possibly be that can it???
