Sen. Dianne Feinstein has Died at the Age of 90
Feinstein was the oldest member of the Senate.
California Sen. Dianne Feinstein, 90, passed away. She planned to retire at the end of her term after serving for 30 years.
Feinstein had a long career in politics, becoming the “first woman” in many roles:
She was the first woman president of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, the first woman mayor of San Francisco, and one of two of the first women elected to the U.S. Senate from California.
“Dianne Feinstein, right from the start, was an icon for women in politics,” said former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
Senator Chuck Schumer adds, “She’s a legend. A legend in California as the first woman senator. A legend in the Senate. She was the leader on so many different issues.”
Feinstein has had many health scares recently. A long bout with the shingles kept her away from DC for months:
Her condition had grown more acute over the past several months, after a bout with shingles that caused serious complications, including a case of encephalitis, and prompted her to begin using a wheelchair in the halls of the Capitol.
Ms. Feinstein’s long and very public decline shone a spotlight on the advanced age of members of Congress and particularly the Senate, where many continue to serve long after retirement age.

How will she vote democrat now?
The same way all those other dead people do.
RIP
I hope she is in a better place.
That is the nicest thing I can say.
I am sure that she went on to serve in Hell, and will enjoy doing so.
You’re a truly pathetic human being.
The Legal Insurrection hall monitor has spoken.
I learned pretty early in life that whos dislikes someone is often a better sign of their worth than those who like them 🙂
I may not have learned much from my mother..but I remember her saying that it is not our place to judge. Sometimes you have to read in between the lines. That may be difficult for some people.
All I can say is God bless her.
I think every place is better than DC or California.
I wouldn’t count on it
It must be killing her (again) not to have seniority in hell.
From her record, I would be more on very hot and dry…
She was an arrogant hag, I met her many times. Then I had to play nice and kiss her ass.
Finally. It will be interesting to see who is appointed to serve out her term.
They will be female, black.. and radical
Maybe Latino
That narrows the field considerably, even in California. But, you are right. Philosophy, melanin count., and indoor plumbing will be deciding factors.
Wasn’t Meghan Markle angling for that (or a similar) position? Lol.
To LG: One way for Harry to be rid of her.
I will take female, black and radical over Adam Schiff, who state Democrats were intending to promote for the seat in the next election. This development complicates matters.
Given that Porter and Lee are apparently the leading two female options it’s terribly difficult to to take heart in “at least it isn’t Schiff”.
I will take my comfort where I can.
“I will take female, black and radical over Adam Schiff . . .”
How does that song go? Oh, yeah! “Two out of three ain’t bad!”
Black, lesbian, female totally unqualified for the job they are given.
And queer.
They will identify as a female black latinx.
Maybe Willie Brown as a placeholder.
My bet is a placeholder. Someone too old to run for the seat. That way Newsom doesn’t get any blowback from the three main contenders.
Her X account sent out a post 15 hours ago…the comments are interesting because she was doing social media posts on her death bed. Or not. Probably not.
Did they say, “Reports of my life are greatly exaggerated?”
How much political damage did she do in all her years in the Senate………..
Arkanside
Oh! Absolutely! She was only 90 and sick as a dog for years.
Humor is lost around here. Life is to Important to take Seriously.
Absolutley…
That just means you don’t have to hold the pillow down as firmly.
(Yes, that’s dark humor.)
If at all. Just let it lay there. Wrap it in a dry-cleaning bag just like it says not to do because it is a choking hazard.
Karma
Sen Feinstein, despite her political ideology, had a successful political career that IMO she should have decided to walk away from while still on top and spent her last one or two decades with her children and grandchildren. Unfortunately her own hubris and the intramural d/prog diversity olympics worked to prevent it.
Gov Newsom has already made two pledges as to appointment of her replacement. First that it would be a ‘black woman’ and second that it would be someone who would serve until the next election with the Senate appointment as a temporary duty. This has PO Rep Barbara Lee who meets the first but not second criteria as she is running in ’24. Add in Schiff and Katie Porter on the d/prog side for more sectarian elbows as the various power blocs in CA d/prog circles jockey for position and it will be an amusing spectacle for those outside CA.
” those outside CA”. It will also be amusing for Californians with a gallows humor sensibility….like myself.
Well… at least you kept a sense of humor about the fix CA is in. There are limits to resilience in the face of repeated tragedy though and CA leaders are creating a stunningly foolish and entirely avoidable set of dire consequences for the stupid policies they have chosen.
Newsom should publicly offer the seat to Harris. That would solve some problems in getting rid of Biden, which would open the door for Newsom. If Harris thought they would lose next year it might be worth considering.
Why would she want to go back there when she got a real chance of becoming President?
I know Halloween is around the corner, but you really shouldn’t scare people like that!
If that were to happen she could sit in the Oval Office all day playing President but there would never be anything in her ‘In’ box. Nothing to sign, nothing to do, because the entity which actually controls the current WH knows better than to let her touch anything more complex than a soup spoon.
Think of it as cretin-proofing the office.
Then democrats lose their tie breaker in the Senate. Good luck getting the Senate to confirm a new vice president (though knowing Republicans they probably would confirm anyone democrats wanted).
What tiebreaker? There is no tie in the senate. The Dems had a 51-49 majority. Now their majority is 50-49, which is enough to consent to a new VP. With Harris they’d be back to 51-49.
In this wacko cultural climate Newsom can self-identify as a black woman and give himself the seat, thus maintaining the “appointment” promise. Who he appoints will be the ‘tell,.
(This is the low-grade commentary we have been reduced to thinking at the hands of the demented running things off the cliff.)
And give herself the seat. 😉
California Senator Dianne Feinstein is STILL DEAD.
It’s 10 AM here, but I am mixing myself a celebratory margarita.
Both Feinstein and Ruth Bader Ginsberg were major shaping forces within the Democrat Party and Feminist Agenda. San Francisco has been the launch point for much of what California has become …. that is not a compliment and San Fran is leading again in the direction of the country because of Feinstein and her ilk. Credit where credit is due….. she was a major success politically.
Feet first – the Democrat way. F__king us over right to the end.
I thought for a bit that saying that it was the Democrat way was hyperbole since Republicans are know to do it as well But Since WWII 46 Democrat senator have died in office while only 22 Republicans. So Democrat way it is.
Senator Feinstein gave us an example of the present term limit policy for both Democrats and Republicans.
A very simple fix is to amend the Constitution to prevent anyone becoming a candidate for office where the candidate would exceed the age of average life expectancy during the term. This might get more support than a set age maximum for candidates. Personally I would prefer both a basic set of physical tests and a simple cognitive test as requirements for those who qualify to draw Social Security by either age or disability but we could easily make it applicable to all Federal offices in the amendment.
Use the old Army APFT, sit ups, push ups and a timed 2 mile run or alternatively the 2.5 mile walk or the 1000 meter swim to evaluate physical performance. Use the basic TBI testing for a measure of cognitive function. Everything filmed, scored and put on the internet for the public to come to their own conclusions about the ability and fitness of the candidates to serve.
I would just prefer term limits – on Senate and House, and on total terms in ANY elected national office.
There’s plenty of older folks who can serve well. But there’s almost no one who’s been in office a long time who isn’t corrupted by the Swamp.
(I’m willing to negotiate on the “almost” in that last sentence.)
We already have term limits — it’s called “voting them out.”
We have your version of ‘term limits’ kinda like we have speed limits it’s largely optional not mandatory. Incumbent reelection is 98%+ much of it for the structural advantages that incumbents enjoy; pork for their CD or State, wider name recognition, constituent services, fund raising among other advantages.
My second proposal puts the physical and cognitive abilities of the candidates based on objective criteria into the public debate.
As to the age related proposal I am not convinced that politicians so old they are dying in office or suffering a decline in their physical/cognitive abilities that they can’t perform or are hampered in their ability to perform the duties explicit, implied and customary is good public policy.
How about a comprise of the two? All candidates for federal office must submit to testing as I described with scores and video posted online for public to have a very clear opportunity to decide for themselves?
Do you think you can get support for a Constitutional amendment for either of your proposals?
“Voting them out” isn’t my version of term limits — it’s what it is. If the electorate doesn’t want to exercise its power, they get what they vote for.
We already opened the box with presidential term limits. I think expanding it to all elected federal offices would simply make it comprehensive and would aid in selling it to the people. It also helps to facilitate the citizen-statesman concept the Founders thought they could get the people to enforce.
Honestly, the only way to get us all the way back to the Founders’ intent is to significantly reduce the size and power of the federal gov’t.
But, to your point about “the voters”: yes, we have to evangelize the electorate back into Christian morals and American ideals before we can ever hope to vote our way back to a free constitutional republic. Nothing else will work.
Nah, the whole idea is nonsense now, like still believing that cops wouldn’t unconstitutionally confiscate your guns post Katrina.
There isn’t a person in Pennsylvania who wasn’t painfully aware that Fetterman was the walking dead. But since their gibmes would grind to a halt otherwise, Hail Caesar, he’s our man.
“cognitive abilities of the candidates”
Which should apply to all members of Congress, IE., minimum IQ standard. That would fix much of what is wrong with Congress today. Set it at 100, we deserve leaders who are smart enough to at least have a chance of making good decisions. We have the dumbest Congress today than any in the past.
alien,
In the current climate with Sen Feinstein dying, McConnell having buffering/latency issues, Biden falling down and up stairs, off bikes, over sandbags, falling asleep, unable to speak coherently, plus Sen Fetterman plus a bunch more old ass ranking d/prog and a couple GoP members ….yeah the time is as good to make the case with all these current examples doing much of the heavy lifting for us as it will ever be.
Again doesn’t have to be a max age. Just make them take the physical and cognitive tests. Publish the results and the video of the testing while leaving it up to voters to decide if a particular candidate is really up to the job.
I prefer prison terms for them all, but that’s just me.
Life expectancy at birth, of about 77, is not relevant to someone 75 years old, who did not die from all the things that kept others from making it to age 75. Life expectancy at 75 is 11-13 years; at 80, 8-10 years; and 90, 4-5 years.
IMO limiting accumulation of money and power in the deep state is much more important than limiting the age. These leadership jobs should really be public service, not the graft we have recently seen. The fix is term limits – 2 or 3 Senate terms and the equivalent years in the House. (That would naturally fix the age issue.)
Sure it is. The extension of life is one thing but the ability to perform the duties and responsibilities of a full time stressful job are quite another. Unless you are simultaneously arguing that the eligibility age for Social Security should also be raised to account for increased longevity in those hitting 65 or for my age cohort 67?
But there’s the problem. I think you’re setting up to combat the wrong issue. It’s not senility or simply age. And those standards will change and adjust over time.
The real problem isn’t merely age, but longevity in office. Feinstein was in office for 30 years.
(And, yes, eligibility for retirement and SS should be a lot further out into the sunset than it currently is.)
Indirect means of doing it for sure. But since the few remaining Silent Gen members and most Boomers won’t retire and give up political and personal power on their own it seems like a good comprise. Especially so when one realizes that Congress would grandfather themselves and start the clock for term limits on the day it passed. My initial plan would shove these MFers out the door next election.
I understand the CIA enforces term limit, albeit by rather opaque standards.
One less tyrant in the US is a start at least. I remember how her staff gave the left media a cross reference to out CIA officers and contractors who had testified before her committee on enhanced interrogation under false identities. This allowed jihadis to trace their true identities. James E. Mitchell, a psychologist who advised the CIA on SERE techniques was forced to relocate when the FBI found credible threats on his and his families lives. I hope this sort of treachery finds Feinstein rotting in a radically warmer location than CA. She deserves it.
As Mark Steyn puts it…. when Republicans win, they are in office…. when Democrats win… they are in power. Feinstein was a power player. Her major contribution was the “Assault Weapons Ban”… a deceitful piece of abuse that personified her abilities. She is now weighed in the balance beyond the manipulative schemes of the Democrat Party.
TBH, her staff has been carting her corpse around for months and everyone could see it. This is just making her death official.
Hopefully, Congress will take the hint and at least try to pass term limits.
Hopefully, I know.
The Senatorial Hand Truck.
It should have been accompanied by the Senatorial Face Mask.
And this ended reign of puppet masters. now we need the same for Joe Biden and prison for his puppet masters.
It is the goal of every Democrat politician to die in office. Ms Feinstein reached her goal.
Ooh. Their terms are acceptable.
Unlike liberal may she rest in peace now she long longer that threat she was.
After Dan White shot Harvey Milk DiFi got a conceal carry permit. I think it was a police revolver model. The local press found out and hounded her about it. She held a presser, denounced herself, and discontinued carrying. So she said. The press discovered she was still carrying and went on a jihad. She supposedly reformed and stopped carrying.
Mama always said, “If you can’t say something nice…”, so I won’t say anything about her at all. Except the indictment against the electorate in CA who kept electing her – them I’ll harangue all day long.
2010ish. RFK Jr. and DiFi got into a very nasty public spat over Mojave desert solor power contracting patronage. RFK Jr. was the grifter-frontman for a group of Silicon Valley venture capitalists incorporated as BrightSource. RFK Jr. tried to muscle in on DiFi’s turf. DiFi emerged victorious.
DiFi authored a Mojave desert protection act that essentially locked out industry and limited public use to hiking and equestrian traffic. It also expropriated small ranches. RFKJr. destroyed the lives of many small ranching families in the region.

Damn, it’s hot here. — Dianne Feinstein
It is a great day for America. Only 600 or so to go.
Good Riddance.
Darn. That was what I was going to say. Now, when will her family and Senate Staffers be charged with elder abuse?
Schiff can’t be appointed. He’s white, male, not gay or trans, doesn’t have enough pronouns, and has never been seen wearing a wig, flashy garments and/or heavy makeup in public.
Sorry Adam, you don’t possess any of the required qualifications. But I’m sure that you understand.
A Weekend at Bernie’s Senator to the very end.
RIP, but we are all better off for her sudden departure. She has for a long time been incapable of representing her state, and unelected actors made decisions for her. Regardless of whether she would have made the same decisions herself, the Constitution does not permit a proxy (whether staffer or daughter).
If this were a Republican, these comments would be full of “Rot In Hell” comments from the liberals.
When is Biden and Fetterman going to join her?
And whenever that is, Mitch won’t be far behind.
I am careful speaking in terms of the demise of anyone in the government so FBLiars can’t storm my door at 5 am.
I don’t wish death on any of them, accidental or intentional.
Having said that, Biden has reached his shelf life expiration date, and with his mental and physical deficiencies, he is at danger of a life threatening call, another stroke, or some other medical condition that may incapacitate him.
Uncle Fester is a stroke away from being a vegetable, or a drooling idiot, not that his current condition isn’t much different.
Mitch M is another on the verge of some kind of gasket malfunction.
So all three of them with their age and maladies are so close to a physical or mental event that puts them at risk.
Happy to serve. Feinstein was a cancer on American liberty.
But you’ll defend the “rot in hell” comments about her here and call those who point it out “hall monitors.”
For Christopher’s sake. Get a life. Your whole commentary is the race card where none exists. Your one trick pony BS is a hollow act of concern, when you lie through your computer
Not a single comment I made here supports DiFi rotting in hell, nor have I given cheers to anyone who has said she should rot in hell, because no one has.
No one gives a flying fuck about you or your commentary. I have zero respect for you. So anything you type to me has no bearing on whether I sleep well or not. You are nothing to me. I respond to you to show you that I hold you in contempt as a waste of anyone’s time, and I will continue to do so.
You are free to type. I will continue to troll you.
So go back to fondling little boys, doing psychological operations on unsuspecting women in mall parking lots, or whatever you do to get your jollies.
All you care about is licking the ass of liberals so you can get your literal and figurative “brownie” points.
You are a hall monitor. You are also a zit on the ass of nearly every poster on this site who is one step dumber for your inane commentary.
FOAD. You worthless piece of whale shït resting on floor of the ocean.
Lonely women and men need you. I don’t.
“Rot in Hell”
I prefer that she roast in hell, she does deserve it.
Dianne Feinstein has now become the leading Democrat candidate for President.
Now that, is funny!
Well, bless her heart.
That’s the nicest thing I can bring myself to say about her; It goes against my upbringing to say anything worse this soon after her passing.
That won’t be the case in a week or two.
And now she’s finally a good communist.
How long will she continue to vote in the Senate? Asking for a friend…….
Jesus: Let’s have a little chat about what you did to Brett Kavanaugh.
She will be voting Democrat for years to come
If she could have hung on, sure Harris might have been giving the spot
Adam Schiff now claims to identify as a black female
Went to the women’s cut rate dress shop already did he?
My thoughts and prayers go out to her loved ones in their time of grief.
I just announced to the neighborhood I’m putting together a celebratory BBQ (“Feinstein Spirit Roast”) tonight. Our guest of honor is Tammy, a renowned psychic medium from Glendale. With Tammy’s help, each of our guests is going to crank-call Dianne. My phone hasn’t stopped ringing.
I’m thinking of getting some ammuntion from Fenix Ammunition Company for their apt words of goodbye to her.
I don’t know in what place DF is now, only that in her absence, the world is a better place.
As for term/age limits, they are a useless distraction. Do you think a term limited Chuck Schumer, or Dick Durbin, or Diane Feinstein is going to be replaced by a Ronald Reagan, or some noble “citizen legislator”. If so, you are a naive idiot. Don’t lose sight of the real prize.
And the real prize is limited government, and limited taxation.
When you take away their money, the swamp will drain itself.
The point isn’t what they get replaced with.
The point is removing them from power, chopping up their comm and influence networks, emptying their influence peddling piggy banks, burning down their capability to cheat the markets, filling in the chasms of their entrenchment, salting their lands and Rolodex files, and most of all, making them totally irrelevant.
We’ll roll the dice that their replacement won’t be as bad but at worst they will have to start at the bottom of the swamp again.
(But yeah, making Govt a not so lucrative career for anyone would be good for all. Removing the money from it wold help.).
