Another Texas Democrat Bolts From the Party to Join GOP Over the Border Crisis

“There is an unprecedented crisis at our southern border. I believe that the GOP’s policies of law and order protecting safety, and backing the blue best align with my values and the values of the citizens of Kleberg County.”

Kleberg County Attorney Kira Talip Sanchez, located in Texas, announced on Saturday that she is leaving the Democratic Party for the GOP over the disastrous border crisis and policies.

Kleberg County borders the Gulf of Mexico.

Sanchez spoke to the Hispanic Republicans of Texas PAC, confirming her switch at the PAC’s “2024 election season kickoff event.”

From Fox News:

Sanchez cited the “unprecedented” border crisis as a main reason for her switch.

“As County Attorney, I have been proud to work with law enforcement to ensure the safety of the citizens of Kleberg County,” Sanchez said in a statement. “There is an unprecedented crisis at our southern border. I believe that the GOP’s policies of law and order protecting safety, and backing the blue best align with my values and the values of the citizens of Kleberg County.”

“I look forward to working with my colleagues to keep South Texas safe,” Sanchez added.

Sanchez served as Kleberg County Attorney in 2014. Her work involves overseeing Kleberg County’s Specialized Crimes and Narcotics Task Force.

The task force “plays a vital role in intercepting deadly drugs coming through the Southern Border before distribution.”

We all see border patrol tweets and reports with pictures of agents confiscating a ton of drugs (sometimes literally), especially fentanyl.

The once-leaning blue county has been going toward the GOP since 2000 when it voted for President George W. Bush. The county voted for him again in 2004 and President Donald Trump in 2020.

Sanchez told Fox & Friends:

TALIP SANCHEZ: “Well, as you know, my parents came to the United States from Mexico, and they raised me with conservative values. And in recent years, I feel like the former party — my former party has moved further left, and it’s no longer aligned with my values. And, you know, growing up in this community, as a Hispanic where we were told, you know, Hispanics are Democrats, and that is not really the case. I feel like a lot of Hispanic Americans are Republican, and they don’t even know it.”

A county attorney is nice, but not significant in the scheme of things.

Mayor of El Paso is still a Democrat. When that changes, we’ll be on a roll.

An elected Democrat in Texas with power decides to switch parties to the
Republicans, and all you can do is bitch and moan that it is insignificant. Good luck with trying to get other elected Democratic officials to make the switch. Grow up.

Take a tip from an election judge: convince me that this is going to affect the outcome of anything we care about in a significant way. You can’t, because it won’t.
      County attorney. Geez.

Since you repeated your comment from before, I’ll do the same:

“”A county attorney is similar to a DA. In any event, it’s just another indicator that formerly heavily Democrat Texas border counties and districts are turning purple. She wouldn’t be changing pa

Election judge. Geez. At least she’s elected, not appointed.

Part of that quote got cut off. It went something like:

….changing parties unless she’d held up a finger to check the political winds.

Dems do a great job of getting on the wrong side of so many issues, one after another that causes people to leave the party. Once that happens people start reevaluating issues with that in mind. That is Trump’s greatest strength, those people come to admire him. While on that topic, Republican Trump haters had a choice, get behind Trump, or lose, & they chose to win, 2024 will be a repeat of this.

Liberals always bolt when they see power switching. It’s not because they had an epiphany.

Democ-Rat abandoning the ship? Hopefully someone who has finally seen the true nature of her “Party”. Could still drag the Overton window leftward but it’s a start. She may still not recognize that her core beliefs are damaging.

Hmmmm…

Why can’t these dems move their party to America First??!!

Unlimited Hispanic migration could turn the USA into the mess they left. I doubt that the Hispanics already here would love that. It would be more than ironic if voting Hispanics started to resemble the Black vote for Republicans. Given that the Democrats have already largely abandoned the working class, IMO Republicans should campaign vigorously on gaining the Hispanic vote.

This is the second time this has been posted in the past couple of days.

Wow. It would have been easy for her to side with co-ethics on the issue of population replacement.
