Court declines at this time to rule on Trump’s claim that he can’t get a fair trial prior to the 2024 election.
Judge Aileen Cannon split the baby, picking a trial date later than that prosecution wanted (December 11, 2023) but not as far out as Donald Trump wanted (after election day in November 2024): May 20, 2024.

Barring any future delays, it is conceivable that Trump—the top opposition candidate to the current Regime—could be tried, convicted, and in prison before Election Day.

The May 2024 trial date for Trump effectively disenfranchises Republican voters (who have already been somewhat disenfranchised by the prosecution) because if Trump is convicted it will be after the primaries, so it will be too late for Republican voters to choose an alternative.

Until I see evidence to the contrary, I assume Aileen Cannon will stack the Trump jury with MAGA diehards who think Biden put fluoride in the water to turn their grandkids trans. So a May trial date is smart if Cannon’s goal is to give Trump’s campaign a boost going into the RNC.

I'm hearing a lot of Trump supporters panicking over Judge Cannon scheduling the trial in May. I think she made a smart move. Here's why:
1) Agreeing to delay the case til after the election right now could've gotten her removed from the case.

The DOJ did not indict the fake electors the state of Michigan did.

Conviction or not, I don’t think that precludes DJT from running in the general election. Eugene Debs was tried and convicted of Sedition and sentenced to 10 years Sept 1918, started prison April 1919 and ran for President from the Atlanta Federal Prison in 2020.

Actually, Trump might be in a DC jail without bond in the J6 indictment that will come in the next week or so, so the effect of a conviction or acquittal in the Docs case could be irrelevant to the election.

A compromise date was probably the best we could hope for initially. Trump and his lawyers may still be able to delay it further but it looks unlikely he’ll push it past the election. I hope his team is ready to go come May.
Or, maybe the prosecution will get Phizered – you know – the finger of God casts a one of a kind vote.
The Democrat media is going to have a field day come May next year. It will be wall to wall, 24/7 coverage of the prosecutions case and sweet fuck all from the defence.

Oh that’s all but a certainty, it’s one reason why sites like this matter: so that we have at least some sane coverage of the trial proceedings. I’m hoping someone from the LI team or someone they trust will be able to be there in Florida to provide coverage for them.
I read that this is common practice with a lot of courts. Choose a date on the court’s calendar that works and if it gets pushed back that wouldn’t be unusual.

As we know from the biblical story, Solomon did not actually split the baby, only threatened to do so. Probably never would have done it.
Here splitting the baby is the worst for the Republican party. Republican party operatives and primary voters need to know if Trump is convicted in this trial. Or else, that it won’t matter in the election. As Judge Cannon ruled, they won’t know during the primary, but the result will probably be known in the general election. The Republican party is thus flying blind.
