I suggested yesterday that readers take the statements by the lawyer for the alleged victim about injuries to the alleged victim, etc., with a grain of salt.
I had confidence that the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office would not be proceeding as it is unless the DA’s office had information in a detail and of a nature not yet revealed in the disclosure letter the DA sent to Strauss-Kahn’s lawyer. That letter was intended to meet the legal minimum in disclosing potentially exculpatory material regarding the statements by the alleged victim to the police and investigators.
Given this report by The NY Post that the alleged victim worked as a prostitute with hotel guests, it is not hard to see where this is going and why the DA is taking a fresh look at the case:

The Sofitel housekeeper who claims the former IMF boss sexually assaulted her in his room was doing double duty as a prostitute, collecting cash on the side from male guests, The Post has learned.
“There is information . . . of her getting extraordinary tips, if you know what I mean. And it’s not for bringing extra f–king towels,” a source close to the defense investigation said yesterday….
Allegations that she worked as a hotel hooker may explain why Strauss-Kahn insists their encounter was consensual. His defense attorneys refused yesterday to comment on the damning evidence — or say whether he paid her for sex.
Sources also told The Post Strauss-Kahn’s probers uncovered evidence that she was part of a pyramid scheme that targeted immigrants from her native Guinea.
“We have people who have been victimized, who have claimed she ripped them off. Nice working people from her neighborhood,” a source said….
Twenty-eight hours after the alleged sexual assault, the woman talked to her boyfriend in an immigration jail in Arizona — saying “words to the effect of, ‘Don’t worry, this guy has a lot of money. I know what I’m doing,’ ” The New York Times quoted an official saying.
The Manhattan DA is under intense criticism for backing away from the house arrest for Strauss-Kahn, and the alleged victim’s lawyer is trying to inflame public opinion against the DA.
But if the DA has doubts about the case and the alleged victim’s story, then he is doing absolutely the right thing is reevaluating whether to move forward with a prosecution.
It may be that at the end of the day the Manhattan DA’s office does prosecute Strauss-Kahn, because rape should be prosecuted even when the victim is a hooker and scamster.
By taking a step back and reevaluating, the Manhattan DA is doing what Mike Nifong in the Duke Lacrosse case never did, caring about the facts. For that courage the Manhattan DA will come out of this case looking pretty good.

I’m surprised DS-K’s lawyer hasn’t said (even though there was blood on the bedsheets), that the maid wasn’t a virgin. So what was she complaining about?
Isn’t a woman suppose to lay back and enjoy sex?
When I was young married women, basically stayed home. My dad explained to me that IF a woman went to work, then the boss would use her for his own sexual pleasure.
I actually took what my dad said as gospel.
Then, when I went to work I discovered that it wasn’t uncommon to be approached for sex. And,not “take a letter.” If it was thought that “sex” went too far … the boss was allowed to stick his hand inside your blouse. Sometimes inside your bra.
This works because everything leads to sex.
Even when you’re a hotel maid … and a guest asks you for extra towels.
You know, being forced to suck a naked man’s cock should be something that gets defined as a crime.
Yet, here, the victim also had her IRS taxes stuck under the microscope. Why? Because our legal system doesn’t stop even at the hymen.
That’s the problem with facts. They, as with the rain, fall on the just and unjust alike. I don’t think this is close to being over, nor do I see a conspiracy behind every lamppost. DA was right to not do an “O.J.” on the prosecution of this.
Don’t you think Gil Garcetti has kicked himself a million times for rushing his case to trial before knowing all the facts?
Gil Garcetti did not rush to prosecute OJ. OJ’s legal team asked for a speedy trial which is guaranteed by the constitution – probably because they did not want to give the prosecution more time.

I dunno, is Mike Nifong really the bar we should be testing DAs against? Pretty low standard.
Up until two days ago, I would have thought that the Manhattan DA and NYPD detectives would have taken apart any false allegations in short order — making the denial of bail and later high bail combined with virtual house arrest seem appropriate.
Now we find that nearly everything about this woman is a tissue of lies. If this latest — that she hooked for hotel guests — is true, that is something detectives ought to have found out in 24 hours, not the Post weeks later.
I cannot help but think that forner long-time DA Bob Morgenthau and his team would never have made this series of blunders. Cy Vance Jr. may not be a Nifong but he has a long way to go to fill the shoes of Morgenthau and his predecessor, Frank Hogan.

You get the distinct feeling that if the sexual assault charge falls apart that the DA can charge Strauss-Kahn with “theft of services”
@ retire05. There are those among who don’t believe they can play with adults unless they shock them. That, too, shall pass with maturity.
This is the classic ‘blame the victim’ sexist/misogynistic tactic on steroids (or should I say Viagra?). Why should we care how the Manhattan DA comes out looking in this case? Perhaps I’m old-fashioned and naive, but I continue to believe the most important concern is to see justice done and follow the rule of law. The information I read yesterday seemed to indicate that DSK’s bribe money (or his wealthy friends’ bribe money) to ‘make the case go away’ likely wound up in the maid’s relatives’ accounts (possibly in various locations here and in Guinea). Also, the information indicated that she had asked her supervisor if hotel employees were supposed to do everything that guests asked of them. I read also that DSK’s friends were in the habit of sending him prostitutes to his hotel rooms, sort of like some normal folks send flowers or fruit baskets. Perhaps DSK mistook the maid as one of these ‘gifts’ from his twisted friends. Regardless, I continue to believe DSK forcibly sexually assaulted and injured this woman. Calling the victim a wh-re is the last desperate act of a justice system being forcibly assaulted and injured by political considerations.
I find it odd in this day and time that we automatically believe a woman’s story. Some things are missing in this situation, like a scream or evidence that the woman put up a fight. But think of the wrong that has been committed if this woman was trying to shake down the man. He was thrown in a hell hole and has been treated with contempt, reputation ruined, etc. So if he is innocent, the system has done significant harm. Just like with the Duke people.
Maybe a few lessions could be taken away, first, what is wrong with seeing prostitues? I have never understood this concept. Prostitution was accepted up until about 1920, seen as a need for men. Our current laws on the subject are wrong and increase the violence against these women and the spread of disease. Legalization would seem to be appropriate. Then, men should understand that if a woman enters there room, they should leave, I do this routinely and I am still concerned that the woman could accuse me of something.
You know, in the past, if you wanted to beat a woman up, you had to be married to her.
These days, we’re touting all you need to do is “hire a whore.” And, “whores are chambermaids.”

And, supposedly she figures out she can go to the police.
Except? It didn’t really flush out that way.
But the New Yoke Times isn’t read by blacks. It’s read by people with real political connections. Such connections, even the New York police wouldn’t touch with a ten foot pole.

And, all the political connections went to work.
They’re claiming this maid “ain’t no better than Crystal Mangum.” Ah. But Cystal Mangum had so many different sperm in her vagina … the DNA test didn’t play out in Mike Nifong’s favor.
Alas, the professors at Duke climbed on board against the students from their own school.

And, I don’t think the african lady is a scam artist! I think, though, that journalists (using the term very loosely), who produce garbage for the New Yoke Times … could dump such a story on a slow news weekend.
Because the “upper staff” is away. And, there’s only a skeleton crew on duty.
At first, no one thought it was possible that DSK would even employ a black 32 year old maid … for a blow job.
Now, we know her hair needed braiding. And, so why not say she didn’t earn enough for this? Half of harlem walks around with braided hair. Somehow, this can be afforded. Just like cell phones for teenagers. When the single moms are on welfare.
Next, they’ll say she wore $125 a pair Nike’s to work. Another proof that the New York City police have no sophistication about scams and whoring.
How did the maid know DSK was violent? That as soon as the story got reported, French women came out of the woodwork to talk about DSK’s violent approach?
Why, if she was going to shake him down, didn’t she get him to make a cash offer?
Why the arrest?
Why the corroboration?
What’s this with “it took all this time to get a translator to translate a phone call this lady made to a convict in Arizona?) This is a her boyfriend. How did he get to Arizona?
How does a scam, at first, pass the smell test?
Everybody did learn Mike Nifong was running for re-election. And, he needed black votes.
Show me, here, were black votes are involved?
If the maid was a “scam artist” … wouldn’t other hotel guests have complained to management? Why would management keep her employed … if she was enhancing her poor pay … by shaking down guests?
Are journalists just free to lie? Does the New Yoke Times have a cat in this fight?
I want all the info to come out before I stick my oar in again. Really. I’m here wondering if the prosecution investigated DSK as hard as it did the woman; did she decide to hit his pocket after the alleged attack in the hotel room (isn’t that the right of the victim to sue the attacker?) or…. Anyway, I have more questions than I’m seeing answers for. So, I’ll sit down, shut up, and read.

DSK was arrested on a plane leaving for France. The DA didn’t have the luxury of time. With the evidence he had and despite the need for further investigation, he needed to stop DSK from leaving the country. So he arrested him and locked him up based on the best information he had at the time.
Upon further investigation, the prosecution, not the defense, came up with additional information about the accuser that throws the case into doubt. What else could he do?

Know how the DA can come out of this not only looking good but great? By investigating whether or not the union is aiding, abetting, and possibly profiting from a prostitution ring, as seems to be alleged in some of the articles I’ve read on this.
I was puzzled by this sordid affair. Nothing seems to jive. Why now? Why this strange maid? After pondering the details, I came to completely different conclusion. Notice the timing. It was way too perfect. Choreographed. The whole affair blew up just as the appointment of the new IMF head was about to get underway. Suddenly DSK was ingloriously snatched from the running. Then, just as the IMF head was appointed, the case was turned on its head.
Hmmmmm. This is a thuggish tactic of the Obama regime. An Alinsky tactic. Of the Chicago mob. Obama used it before to snatch his Senate seat, for Rahmbo to grab the title of mayor of Chicago. Find a weak point of your rival and use it to foment a crisis. So who was installed as IMF head? Why a member of the Chicago thug machine! Now the Jew DSK was tossed into the trash.
