Rep. Massie Confronts Rep. Bowman After He Called the GOP ‘Cowards’ Over Gun Control
Massie wants to re-introduce a bill to repeal the Gun-Free Schools Act.
Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) went off on a rant about the GOP being cowards over gun control without using facts, only emotions.
Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) tried to have a constructive conversation but we all know how that goes.

“They’re cowards! They’re all cowards!” Bowman, a former Bronx middle school principal, shouted near reporters, referring to the Republican members walking through the hallway.
“They won’t do anything to save the lives of our children at all. Cowards!” Bowman continued. “Pressure them. Force them to respond to the question, ‘Why the hell don’t you do anything to save America’s children?’ And let them explain that all the way up to Election Day in 2024.”
“They’re freaking cowards. They’re gutless,” Bowman screamed.
The tirade caught the attention of Massie, a gun owner and co-chairman of the House Second Amendment Caucus, who asked Bowman what he was raging about.
“I’m talking about gun violence,” Bowman replied.
Massie proceeded to try and explain to Bowman that arming teachers may be a way of countering school shootings, but Bowman wasn’t having it.
“You know, there’s never been a school shooting in a school that allows teachers to carry,” Massie said.
Bowman continued to chastise Massie, who did his best to remain calm:
Bowman accused Massie of “carrying the water for the gun lobby” as the Kentucky Republican continued to try and make his point about arming teachers, telling Bowman at one point to “calm down.”
“Calm down? Children are dying,” Bowman shouted.
Massie walked away from Bowman and went over to talk with reporters after the representative of New York’s 16th District began to repeatedly ask, “Have you ever worked in a school?”
“You’re just screaming at me,” Massie said, as he went over to tell reporters, “We have guns here to protect us, and he doesn’t believe that kids should have somebody to protect them.”

Bowman is like any other Democrat. It is about control. Guns are a means.
How are they going to take the guns? Break down the door of every house in the nation? War on the citizens? The probability of “cartel” type gun battles to obtain their goal should scare them.
The continued emotional appeal about guns is designed to cause weak Republicans to break ranks, I mean R politicians and voters. Why would running gun battles ‘cartel’ type scare them? Democrats want what they want by any means necessary and consequences be damned. What Dems governors, mayors and DAs are doing to their citizens is evidence of this. We on the right are not up against normal healthy people in this ideological war. This war is about them dominating and then ‘us’ being ideologically eliminated from the public square.
The Democrat is designed for this kind of war. We on the right are slow learners.

It’s bad when it happens in Nashville, but not so much in Chicago. Gun crime and crime in general expose the major defect of a certain minority subcukture. When someone representing that sub-culture lectures others about cowardice… tell them to address their sub-culture first. Guns don’t get up, plan and execiute school shootings-only individuals who are mentally do engage in such actions-if schools allowed teachers to carry, or permitted a police presence in school-we would see a lot less such incidents
Yelling and sky screaming when confronted with facts. Then Rep Bowman tried to pull a credential card about working in K-12. As if only the school employees can form or hold a valid position or informed opinion about what goes on inside our public schools.
The same folks who refuse LEO in schools, do not want to expel disruptive and/or criminally violent students or allow teachers and staff to arm themselves to protect students are also the folks who believe Parents are terrorists for questioning policies and want to hide information about their children from these Parents.
I don’t ask the state to arm me, but I very much would like to have a gun safe in my closet with a rifle and a vest and not go to federal prison over it.
It is the “guidance councilors” and school administrators who allow the problem kids to remain in schools instead of expelling them. The bad kids cause 90% of the problems, and they teachers are by and large helpless. Effective discipline is impossible because corporal punishment is no longer allowed. People can say what they want, but a bit of fear of an adult figure is an excellent motivator for children.

Not all guns, the ones in the hands of agents of the State are just fine according to the totalitarians. They want to ensure the State achieves a monopoly on firearm possession. “Assault weapons” which are “weapons of war” were carried by the cops when they enterred the school. It’s considered a “patrol” rifle to them but the Left says it’s only designed to kill many people. So… why do the police have weapons of war designed to kill many people? Either it’s a false narrative or law enforcement has been intentionally given the means to kill plenty of people. By the way, the lead officer in Nashville was duly trained for CQB by the Marine Corps. Semper Fi.

Arming teachers sounds good and it’s better than nothing but they don’t have the rigorous training of a LEO, we need LEOs in every school in the country, private and public

A modified version of the Federal Flight Deck Officer program might work. Not all cockpits are armed, but some are. So the bad guys have to take that into account.
Flight Deck crewmembers volunteer, apply for it, are screened, sent to training (including annual recurrent training) and viola, another layer of defense.
Why do they need the “rigorous training”* of a LEO? Why not the required training of every other armed person in America?
(* And I couldn’t help but laugh at that statement. The training most LEOs get with firearms is pitiful, and in some places less than is required for a concealed carry permit. Just remember over 100 rounds expended on a large wrong target, and not a single bullet hit the two people.)
When I took LFI-!, my range and classroom time in the use of deadly force was more than many departments .. and … also required passing the same FBI range qualifications. Then there was the NYPD cop that hide his Glock in the oven…. dinner time!
It’s not the initial training that is the problem as most departments use the FBI standard for initial training, which is great. But the retraining and requalifying each year is usually a second thought at best and it is a perishable skill.
I go to many practical shooting competitions and if you want to find the cops, that don’t train in their own time, you just look for the person who is pissed because they didn’t make it past the first round or who looks stunned that a bunch of civilians can outshoot them with an out of the box POS 9mm.
I am sure that you trained and most special response and SWAT guys train like it is a religion, but most just everyday cops don’t.
Now you take someone who asked to be one of the armed staff, who was willing to go through the training, and who wants to protect the kids under their care. They are going to train and meet the standard.
I spend an awful lot of time getting “trained” on stupid nonsense. My most useful trainings have been medical emergency training (what to do before the ambulance gets there) and safe student control training (how to physically control a violent kid without hurting them).
Haven’t needed them much, but I sure was glad I had the. when I did. I wouldn’t mind if some of my nonsense trainings were things like “How to clear an area without getting dead”.

School guards do not need the “rigorous training of a LEO.” A LEO is trained to respond under many conditions in many situations, and to make judgments concerning whether or not a situation requires force, and, if so, to determine if it requires a lethal-force response.
When there’s an aggressive, obviously armed person in a school, possibly already shooting at staff and students, it takes no training to understand lethal force is required to immediately stop the assailant.
The average American armed citizen has a pretty good record of acting appropriately in such situations, and most of them have little to no training (in the law of use of lethal force), and nearly none of have LEO training.
I believe it was David Hogg who questioned the value of arming teachers. He wanted to know how we could expect armed teachers and school administrators to respond appropriately when the Uvalde police responded so poorly. It was a good question, easily answered: the lives of the teachers and administrators are threatened during a school shooting – they will react appropriately if for no other reason to defend their own lives (without even considering the responsibility they naturally feel for the safety of the children in their charge).
Not many people are trained to use a parachute either. But when the engines quit and a parachute is available I bet they do just fine.

The average number of people killed in a mass shooting when stopped by a civilian is 2.33.

I have an archive of similar reports gathered over 30 years. The point not being that officers are incompetent, the point being that if this level of incompetence is “acceptable” in our “highly trained” protectors, no one had better say word one about civilians trained to civilian standards.
I don’t need any more “rigorous training” to defend myself when I have a room full of kids to my back than I do when I don’t. The kids simply benefit from what I was going to do in that case regardless.
And we’re not talking about “arming teachers.” (Will you stop adopting the language of your enemies?) We’re not talking about conscripting Marian the Librarian and issuing her an AR15. We’re talking about repealing the laws that GET IN THE WAY of teachers being armed with their own equipment that they carry with them everywhere else — teachers who WOULD be armed at work as a matter of course by personal preference, if it were not for those rights-destroying laws.

The subset of bad guys who wants to shoot up a school or mall often are looking to get dead – after they’ve committed some portion of mayhem. Bad guys with a goal other than suicide-by-cop don’t want to get dead and will avoid armed “victims”. The ones desiring suicide-by-cop will reach their goal much faster if the citizens upon which they decide to inflict their mayhem are able to shoot back.
Dems have no interest in any non-gun control “solution” to gun violence. As we all know, the purpose of gun control isn’t to prevent gun violence. It would be great if it did (we know it won’t), but that’s not the point. The point is they want the control. Because of this, they aren’t interested in any non-gun control solution for fear it would work. If such a solution worked, their gun control agenda would be dead in the water, and they will not have gained the control they desire.
The Dems need school massacres to propel their agenda of control. A solution to gun violence that does not include control is antithetical to their objective.

exactly–that said, there are folks who are naturally more able to handle stress than others and knowing that, would be prudent to have at least a couple of staff members who are designated “shooters”–one scenario that has lingered in my mind is while am teaching an english class, young trayvon whips a glock out of his backpack and starts waving it around–a moment of pause indeed but only a moment as that may just be the only time there is
