Christian School in Vermont That Forfeited Girls’ Basketball Game Over Trans Player on Other Team Banned From Sports
“The Vermont Principals’ Association, which oversees school athletics, said Monday afternoon that Mid Vermont Christian School in Quechee will no longer be eligible to participate in sports and other sponsored activities.”
A Christian school in Vermont recently chose to forfeit a girls’ basketball game because one of the players on the opposing team was a biological male who now identifies as female.
For making this decision, the school is now banned from all future sports activities in Vermont.

A private Christian school that forfeited a girls’ basketball game rather than play against a team with a transgender player has been banned from Vermont school sporting events.
The Vermont Principals’ Association, which oversees school athletics, said Monday afternoon that Mid Vermont Christian School in Quechee will no longer be eligible to participate in sports and other sponsored activities.
The decision was announced after a Monday morning meeting of the Vermont Principals’ Association executive committee, during which members decided “that policies have been violated at the school level and thus there is an immediate determination of ineligibility for Mid-Vermont Christian in VPA sanctioned activities and tournaments going forward.”
Specifically, Mid Vermont violated the organization’s anti-discrimination and gender identity policies, the organization told the school in a letter of ineligibility. Those policies allow athletes to play on the team that is “consistent with their gender identity” and prohibit discrimination “based on a student’s actual or perceived sex and gender.”

Townhall covered March 3 how MVCS was scheduled to compete against Long Trail School on Feb. 21, but pulled out once it learned that the opposing team included a male-bodied athlete.
“We withdrew from the tournament because we believe playing against an opponent with a biological male jeopardizes the fairness of the game and the safety of our players,” Vicky Fogg, the head of MVCS, said in a statement at the time.
“Allowing biological males to participate in women’s sports sets a bad precedent for the future of women’s sports in general,” Fogg added.

The ugliness in this debate is running deeper and deeper as time goes along. The fact that this is a Christian school we’re talking about only adds another layer to a very nasty cake. This dispute probably shouldn’t be handled as a First Amendment issue, though. MVCS never claimed that their religious liberties were being violated by being forced to play against the team with a transgender starter. They simply said they refused to tolerate the unfairness of putting their female players up against a boy with obvious, inherent physical advantages.
Another serious inconsistency with this decision is found in the VPA’s own policies. They cite a rule banning discrimination against anyone based on their supposed “gender identity.” But who was “discriminated” against in this instance? If MVCS had refused to allow the Long Trail team into their gym or tried to ban the individual trans player from taking the court, that would be one thing. But they chose to forfeit the match, take the loss, and hand the win to the team with the trans player. If anything, MVCS discriminated against themselves.
I have a very simple solution to this problem. Don’t allow people under the age of 18 to transition. We don’t allow them to get tattoos. Why do we allow them to change genders?
Even Camille Paglia, hardly a conservative, is against the transitioning of children.

The Christian school made the right decision and now must stand its ground against Democrat party political perversion.

Standing their ground will required legal resources that are not cheap. I hope they get some pro bono support to fight this nonsense.

On what grounds could they fight it? If the Vermont Principals Association doesn’t want them in the competition, on what grounds could it be forced to admit them?
My take-away from this incident from the VPA’s perspective is that a coach or a VPA member school has no right to be concerned about the safety of their players, Wow, that policy gratuitously puts coaches and schools in a dangerous position concerning liability.
“So, Coach, please tell the court why you decided to play the game and not forfeit the game even though you believed your team’s opponent had a player who is demonstrable male, much larger, stronger, and faster than your players and is capable of critically injuring your players, which, by the way, happened during the game.”
Extreme response, no?
They are doing the right thing, hope they continue to stay their course. There seems no stopping the madness letting boys play against girls.

That is because a Christian school is used to taking a stand on important matters, instead of going along to get along. The Christians who stand up stand up everywhere, on big things and little to defend their faith and their choices. Christians have courage to say no to the world.

I hear you but the argument here should have nothing to do with religion. As the school stated, they have two objections:
1. Safety. The boy in question is 6’1″ and based on the video I saw I would estimate at least 180 lbs. He likely is taller than every player their team has faced this year and his combination of height, weight and strength does pose a safety concern for his female opponents. One team commented they they couldn’t get any shots near the hoop because he blocked them all. What a guy!
2. The future of girls’ sports. This is most certainly a legitimate concern. In this case, for example, we have a boy who is starting on a girls’ team. That means a girl on that team is deprived of a starting spot and several girls are deprived of playing time to accommodate this boy’s delusions. Get 2 or 3 boys playing on a girl’s basketball team and it’s over. We had a case here in MA where 2 boys played field hockey as boys because MIAA rules allow both sexes to play a sport if it is only available to one sex. One of the boys was the coach’s son so he had some training. With just 2 boys they dominated field hockey in MA for 2 years. Undefeated state champs. Twice. It was a joke. Those boys either had no fathers or they were emasculated.
I completely agree the safety issue is a major concern and walking off the court is a very legitimate method of protest.
I would like to reiterate that the sport issue and the bathroom issues are quite trivial in relation to the vastly more dangerous issue – which is the delusional belief and embracement of the idea that you can cure a mental illness by permanently destroying a human body. A male human can never function biologically as a female human and a female human can never function biologically as a male human.

Yes and no…. Agree completely with safety risks and need to protect women’s sports. What is “unsaid” is also important but must be “hidden”. There is a Biblical stance that fits in with this. Does one think that the school’s religious position didn’t affect the banning?
I agree the argument should have nothing to do with religion. Their stated concerns are real and valid. And other schools and teams probably have them also, but THEY ARE TOO AFRAID to say anything.

Safety is an obvious issue
The biggest issue is the belief the mutilating the human body can cure a mental illness.
There is absolutely zero biological evidence that transitioning cosmetically to appear to be the opposite gender can cure a mental illness.
But the argument does have to do with religion. The insanity that thinks human will can overcome all of nature simply because we have controlled so much other of it is definitely a religion. And it’s a religion that denies all others any place. Throwing them out is an act of their Inquisition, and therefore legally prohibited religious discrimination.
Join a younger-age boys’ league. That’s what the US women’s soccer team did. They get beaten but not so much that they don’t learn stuff.

They address this in S07E05 of “Letterkenny” where the male team just thrashes the women’s team in a hockey match. No woke “heroism,” just the facts, Ma’am. It was just brutal as one of the male players, right after scoring a goal, would repeatedly slide-skate sideways up to the goalie thus showering her with a mini snow-blizzard of ice crystals. Our guess is that Netflix was asleep at the wheel and thus didn’t get any suits in there to “fix” the script.
The appropriate response to this is for all of the other schools to put 2 or more male players on their team when they play this school. At some point in the escalation, hopefully before all of the woemn’s squads feature 5 male starters, the insanity will be checked and reigned in. But I doubt it.
Why not mock the policy and place all boys on their team and state that their gender that day is female?

It’s the price to pay for going against the secular world’s embrace of dysfunction. It only gets worse from here for anyone that puts their faith into action.

The VPA’s decision to ban the school that forfeited a match because of the safety of its players is in violation of the VPA’s own policies. Seems like a good lawyer could win a lawsuit, assuming a non-hostile judge.

Association League. The Christian School is certainly able to form their own league with other like-minded schools/communities.
True but VT has a tiny population. A quick search yielded less than 10 Christian high schools in the state. There are dozens of small, secular private schools but VT is a crazy leftist state so most of these are likely further left than the publics.
Their options are going to be limited and given their low enrollment this could be a death sentence for the school as students who want to engage in sports are likely to leave.
This is mission accomplished in a state like VT.
It’s a shame that the right of humanity loses out to a sickness of perverse ideology that gender is a suggestion at birth.
The correct action would be to test produce a birth certificate where gender is binary.
Pass the sniff test, pass Go and collect a team jersey of your birth sex.
That will only help if they haven’t officially changed over. People who have officially changed sexes get a new birth certificate. That’s been the case for decades.
And it’s one of the places Progressivism won. The record of your birth is a historical document. And it should not change based on a whim of the person. It might be amended but it should never be changed.

For instance adopted children’s birth certificates are altered to reflect the new parents. (As far as I know the original is not destroyed, but is sealed and it can be a whole production to obtain it if needed for some reason)
This is good news for the young Christian ladies. They may now devote more time to their religious studies and can take up the more appropriate sport of croquet with its more modest and appropriate habiliments.
