The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports:
Cost savings from worker contributions to health care and retirement, taking effect today as part of the new collective bargaining laws, will swing the Kaukauna School District from a $400,000 budget deficit to an estimated $1.5 million surplus…. The district… plans to hire teachers and reduce class size.Let’s stop and think of all the protesters who carried signs asserting that their opposition to Scott Walker was for the children.
Preposterous! Surely she cannot mean that lower labor costs per worker might free up money to hire more! What next, claims that increasing the minimum wage kills jobs? That much of the money lost to unionization is eventually recouped at the expense of consumers?

Funny, but what Sarah Palin said in Wisconsin, when she made her speech, is what actually came to pass once the law was allowed to go into effect. Saved jobs. Allowed the budget to be balanced. Reduced the state’s debt/deficit problem. Even created new teacher jobs. And surplus funds for education.
So…..who was it who lied, boys and girls? Can you say, “UNIONS”?
Sure, I thought you could.
I was in WI over the weekend, and read the Sunday front-page above-the-fold story of how the new law would go into effect. The increased payroll deductions to cover pension and health-care contributions was in paragraph #2. The fact that union dues would no longer be deducted from the paycheck was buried on page #7. The benefits of the new law are ignored, because it doesn’t fit the “Walker-as-dictator” narrative.

How about giving the money back to the taxpayers? Decades of studies show that there is no correlation between class size and results. So why reduce them?
