Here are the races Republicans could win:
- CA-03: Republican Kevin Kiley leads Democrat Kermit Jones.
- CA-13: Republican John Duarte leads Democrat Adam Grey by almost 800 votes.
- CA-22: Incumbent Republican Rep. David Valado leads Democrat Rudy Salas
- CA-27: Incumbent Republican Rep. Mike Garcia leads Democrat Christy Smith.
- CO-03: Incumbent Republican Rep. Lauren Boebert leads Democrat Adam Frisch.
- CO-08: Democrat Yadira Caraveo barely leads Republican Barbara Kirkmeyer
Some Republicans want to delay leadership votes since Congress still has uncalled House seats and two uncalled Senate seats, even though no matter what, the Democrats will have the Senate.
It’ll be like in 2018 when the Democrats retook the House, and the Republicans kept the Senate.
People demanded fresh blood in leadership on both sides of the aisle. Yet we ended up with the same old people (literally and figuratively): Nancy Pelosi, Steny Hoyer, Mitch McConnell, John Thune, etc.

Surrendering NY seats we just won that we owe our majority to is surrendering to Joe Biden.
Helping Biden win 2024 because we are too busy fighting 2020 is surrendering to Joe Biden. Tearing down a billionaire who is literally funding a nationwide crusade against CRT and contributes to politicians he identifies as anti-CRT is surrendering to Biden. Tearing down a governor who took a blue state by joining a crusade against CRT and Radical Gender Theory and upholding parent rights is surrendering to Joe Biden. Gate Keeping over 60% of Americans out of the Republican Party is surrendering to Joe Biden. Refusing to change candidate preferences to people who could win their states is a surrender to Joe Biden.
We really need some age limitations in the Federal Government if we can’t get term limitations. Some of these people need to be forced into retirement. Yes, we’d lose the occational decent leader, but we’d clear so out a lot of poisonous gasses in the swamp at the same time.
If it can’t limit AOC and/or Ilhan Omar in the foreseeable future, then I’m not for it.
You can’t get age limitations for the exact same reason you can’t get term limitations — you’d need a constitutional amendment, and those are pretty much impossible to pass without broad bipartisan agreement across the country. In today’s environment you’d have trouble getting that on whether the sun is shining, let alone on whether to amend the constitution.
But if you think you can get an amendment through, why go for your fallback preference, age limits, when you could just as easily go for your first preference, term limits? It’s not as if age limits would be more popular than term limits.

There is only one real way to steal these seats. They need to do late ballot harvesting to pick up unused ballots, fill them out, and have their friendly Postal Union supervisor change the date on the postmark machine to make the ballots legal and mail them. CA allows 3 weeks for ballots to arrive if postmarked by election day.
The only reason to allow ballots arriving after election day to be counted is to enable fraud. Even if if that wasn’t so the US Postal Service isn’t yet so inept that it takes 3 weeks to deliver local mail.

So much for all the commenters above on this post, confidently predicting out of their paranoia that the Dems had deliberately allowed a few Reps to win just so they could have a narrower majority and cause themselves problems, but would not give up the majority. Either the Dems deliberately lost the majority, or those commenters are full of shit.
Also, so much for all those on the other post claiming that Republicans never win close contests that take a week to count, or that it hasn’t happened recently. It just happened today, at least six times. So those claims are comprehensively proven false.
Still… the Senate in some respects is more important to hold…. Also, fewer races to fund and control. As for those Repubs that want to reach across the isle … beware. Some things are worth advancing but some definitely need shelving. I think Kelly saying that no party has all the answers and that Repub senator should join on issues was flying against Biden pre-election and probably a tip off of the realization that the Dems weren’t going to get everything…. then again…. You have to understand that the voting and counting process is neither transparent nor honest. One of the outstanding races, which we have discussed on another thread, is Boebert -v- Frisch in Colo-3. The vote count remaining is in Democrat stronghold Pueblo County. There are only a few thousand votes not counted and the district is 98.61% counted. Boebert is ahead by 1122 votes. OK, one would say it was a close race. That is as of a couple of minutes ago.
Except that those were the same figures reported last Friday afternoon. One could conceivably claim that they did no counting over the weekend. It would not make much sense, but one could claim it. Except it is now Tuesday afternoon. So it seems that they have not counted for two business days. What legitimate reason could there be for that? Or if they have counted, why have they not released the figures?
And if they have not finished the count, what conceivable reason could there be for not being able to do a few thousand votes in at the very least two business days?
Even if she wins, what reason would a rational person have to believe in the integrity of our electoral system or that it can be depended upon to reflect the consent of the governed?

How about because they’re waiting for absentee / military votes to come in, or for disputed and provisional ballots to be adjudicated? Or does CO not have those things?

These are ballots that are physically in the possession of the Pueblo County Clerk’s office. They are NOT votes they are waiting to come in from absentee or the military. In any case, there has to be a cut off date somewhere for counting votes. If they were disputed or provisional ballots, the process of adjudication should have been progressing. To be honest, it should have been in progress through the weekend. But even if it did not start until Monday, they have done NOTHING either Monday or Tuesday. Adjudicating a ballot is not a trial in a court of law. It is done by the County Clerk and the Election Commission, and takes minutes. There should have been at least partial results posted since Friday.

If the R majority is really narrow they will enjoy the fights within the GOP caucus. Also, with a 1 seat R majority, the Dems could get legislation onto the floor by discharge petition. All they will need is one Republican.
It is ALWAYS better to be in the majority always.

Well, the grassy roots flipped 3 or 4 legacy, perma-D seats.
Yet, it’s still a tiny majority. Seems like the party apparatus did it, as in didn’t do it, again.
Well the guy who brought it over the line was Mike Garcia in what’s now California’s 27th District. The “independent” redistricting commission in California shuffled districts like three card monte cards. Garcia first won in California’s 25th Congressional district–replacing Katie Hill who liked to romp around in the nude with her aides. In the shuffle of boundaries and such Garcia is now in the 27th district—where Adam Schiff was first elected.
