Democrats are Desperately Looking for an Alternative to Biden in 2024

As we recently noted, many top Democrats are already trying to position themselves to step in in 2024. They have good reasons for doing this. At Biden’s advanced age, anything could happen.
When it comes to polls, Harris fares worse than Biden, making this problem even worse for Democrats.
Over at New York Magazine, Gabriel Debenedetti describes the desperate talk that’s happening in hushed tones:

On a Tuesday evening in April, nearly half a century after Joe Biden first publicly mused about running for president, an unsettled cross section of the Democratic Establishment assembled at Pinehurst, a golf resort in North Carolina. Inflation was at a 40-year high, Biden’s disapproval rating sat at 56 percent, and editors at the New York Times were readying a front-page report about how his signature achievement — $1.9 trillion in coronavirus-relief spending — has “barely registered with voters.” The lobbyists, donors, staffers, and elected officials were gathering for the spring policy meeting of the Democratic Governors Association, and the scheduled sessions concerned such topics as health care and diversity in governance. But between panel discussions, in the hallways and at the cocktail reception on the lawn, conversation shifted from grim — the midterms — to grimmer: the state of the party’s planning for 2024, when Biden will stand for reelection on the eve of his 82nd birthday.
Biden hasn’t formally announced his campaign for a second term, but in his mind there’s no question he’s running. “That’s my expectation,” he said early in his tenure. “Yes!” he told an interviewer nine months later, sighing a little performatively at having to keep repeating it. “It’s been his life,” says one of his longtime advisers. “It’s like a shark that keeps swimming. It’s how he stays alive.” Or as another top Democrat puts it, “He was told in ’16 he couldn’t cut it. He runs in ’20 and everybody rolls their eyes, and he still wins. So why in the world now would he be like, ‘You guys are right. I am old’?” And yet many of the plugged-in Democrats wandered Pinehurst not entirely persuaded, calculating contingencies: If Biden’s health turned, or if his polling truly collapsed, which of the party’s governors might step up and save them from electoral ruin — and the nightmare of a Trump comeback?…

The most recent analysis from the Los Angeles Times has her net approval rating at negative 11. The result is a bizarre disconnect within the Democratic Party, with two factions talking past each other. One group consists of Biden and his loyalists, who are convinced that while the ticket’s numbers are undeniably bleak, they’re historically unsurprising for a president and VP facing their first midterm and will surely bounce back. The second group comprises a broad swath of the Democratic elite and rank and file alike, who suspect that vectors of age, succession, and strategy have created a dynamic with no obvious parallel in recent history.
The biggest problem for Democrats is figuring out how they are going to get rid of Biden and Harris if they think they must. What if Biden insists on running? If Biden doesn’t run, isn’t Harris going to just naturally expect the baton to be handed to her?
Commenting on the same article, Bonchie of RedState notes that Democrats have painted themselves into a corner:
It’s a conundrum and one that isn’t easily solved. Harris is popular within the base of the party, and she will also carry the black vote in any Democrat primary. As the article notes, that makes her almost a shoo-in should Biden step aside. Yet, party insiders do not think she can win the general election, and I think they are correct in that judgment.
So where do Democrats go from here? Nowhere good is the answer. They are stuck in a kind of political purgatory where the incumbent president is a clearly declining, incapable old man who will be almost 82-years-old by the time of the next presidential election. Yet, the alternative of Kamala Harris is hardly preferable, and machinations to try to place a more “moderate” figure such as Roy Cooper at the top of the ticket are sure to fail and further destroy the party.
These are the fruits of putting Biden in office in the first place when it was clear he was not up for the job.

I checked and AOC was born October 13, 1989, so she would be just old enough to run. I don’t think she’d do it, but she’s one of the few that could easily knock Harris out of the race.

All of those ( and a few others) could not be nationally elected. (one of the key metrics they look at)
The only one on your list who “might” would be AOC and she simply isn’t ready yet. ( you can bet she is on the “list”)
That’s why people can also forget Oprah, Michelle/Michael and that group- they would get the celebrity and Michael Moore Cheeseburger vote but could not carry a national vote.

If it isn’t Harris, the identity politics people, fem, non gender specific crowd will have a fit. She is VP.
That is an issue. Anyone else as VP and they can ease out Harris into a role as Ambassador to India for two years followed by cushy board seats. She can have a chance to reinvent herself and try for Gov or stay on the very profitable sideline.
Maybe shove Feinstein out, get Newsome on board as incoming VP, he appoints Harris to Senate before he leaves, they push Biden out so Newsome has a couple years as POTUS and incumbency in 2024? Replace him as VP with whoever the loudest screeching in d/prog base demands?
This is why the planned 25th amendment replacement of Joe on Jan 21, 2023 may not happen. If they let her rise to the presidency they will be stuck with her for 2024 and they recently recognized that she is as unlikeable as Hillary with less name recognition.

Well, as a last resort, they could always have the person who is behind the scenes running things to step out and admit they’ve been running things. And therefore they are qualified to be president since they have a lot of presidential experience.
Obama can’t run again.
He could serve as POTUS though, in a roundabout manner. Kick Harris to the curb, get the light bringer as VP, kick Biden to the curb and viola.
Of course they would have to get any replacement VP past r because there is a Congressional vote so not likely.

Biden reaffirmed today that the Constitution is not absolute. Which, I guess, means it means anything he wants and why the Left keeps violating it. “Shall not be infringed” sounds pretty absolute to me.
Whether “living” or “dried old paper”, they dearly want to drive a stake through it. Hint dear Prez… your “rule” is not absolute…. not even your puppet masters.
What did Xiden say? Context would help. Old saying: “Don’t bark ’til you know where you’ve been bit.” So where did Xiden bite this time? I need to add it to my SHTF directory.
I found it: Xiden remarked that the second amendment isn’t absolute.
He also included a statement to the effect that in the late 1700s, you couldn’t own a cannon. Who says? If you could afford a cannon, you could own one. What you couldn’t own was a “repeating rifle” for the same reason you couldn’t own a car or a radio or a television or a computer, and all for the same reason: they didn’t exist yet.
But the rest he just pulls out of his ass.
We could just read the 1st amendment the way the left reads the second “Congress shall make no law”. So all federal laws are unconstitutional.
They’ll just refortify the election and install literally anyone as figurehead. So long as they can halt the counting at midnight and deliver boxes of ballots at 3AM, it doesn’t really matter.
Low confidence prediction:
1. The Dems lose 40 in the House and 2 to 4 in the Senate.
2. Joe abdicates but makes sure to do it after January 20, 2023. Why? See the 22nd amendment.
3. The Dems twist themselves in knots trying to figure out what to do about President Kamelatoe. Opposing her will be racist. To whom do they turn?
4. Kamelatoe or not, this fall’s “shellacking” will be felt almost entirely by defeats of their “moderates,” so the Dems will go even further leftward. Their 2024 convention will look a lot like their 1972 convention.
5. The Dem presidential nominee gets crushed. The Senate map for ’24 is highly advantageous for the Republicans, who could come close to a filibuster-proof majority.
6. It takes 30 years for the Dems to get back into power. It wouldn’t need to take that long, as shown by their tack toward the center that got Bill Clinton elected in 1992, after 12 years of Republicans in the White House. Will the “progressives” allow Democratic Leadership Council 2.0? They would if they were smart, but I doubt it.

Big qualifier: The Dems are stuck in a ditch on the left side of the road, and that helps the Repubs, but it’s no guarantee. Two problems: As of yet, no governing agenda. Only anger. They’d better come up with Contract With America 2.0. Second problem: How to keep the fang-dripping nutcases on the far right in line. The Dems are bedeviled by their “progressives,” but the Repubs have similar problems.
For all the media-amplified horseshit, this is a center-right country. The Republicans have a gigantic opportunity, but they’ve blown it before. By the way, they need to shitcan Senator Foghorn Leghorn from Kentucky. Anyone who thinks the deadwood is only on the Democratic side is bullshitting themselves.
If conseratives want to really change things, they’d better start playing the politics of addition. The Democrats have been playing the politics of subtraction, and so did Trump. The Republicans are in the best position they’ve been since Reagan ran in 1980; he managed to stick to his principles while attracting a shitload of people who never would have considered voting Republican.
You don’t win enduring majorities by talking just to yourselves. The Democrats are doing that, and the Republicans are in danger of it. Bottom line is that I’d much rather be in the Republicans’ shoes, but they’d better not repeat the arrogance from a different direction. The American public despises arrogant politicians, and conservatives better understand that their shit stinks too.
They opened the Pandora’s box of leftist crazies (craziers?) and now they have to live with them. Add the racist BLM and the anarchist pantifa, and you have a trifecta of anti Americanism that will hopefully crush the Democrats for a generation.
To elaborate on point #6, I’d point to four other periods.
1. The 1894 off-year election, where one-third of the House turned over and the Republicans romped. It took three elections to reverse that: 1932, 1934, and then the coup de grace of 1936. Thirty years.
2. The 1992 election. The Repubs had convinced themselves that they were in a “realignment,” and then Bill Clinton and the Democratic Leadership Council came along. Twelve years.
3. 1980 and 2008. I mention this mainly because if you look at the other two, there’s a common denominator that binds all four together: economic crisis. It’s going to be THE overriding factor this fall, as it was in 1894 and 1932-34.
The 1894 off-year election is lost in the sands of time to everyone but true politics nerds. That period is fascinating for all kinds of reasons, one being that the economy was in truly deep, deep shit.

Biden was not selected to get rid of Trump. That job was done by crooked politicians, drop boxes and 2000 mules. Biden was selected as a front-puppet for the DSoA socialist party that hijacked the Democrat party, the election and the government of our republic, bringing about the most shameful, embarrassing period in our nation’s history, which we are surviving , as we speak.
“Biden” will run. Notice that “Biden” isn’t going back to his Delaware basement much and taking longer and longer trips abroad. Either his cocktail is really tuned to perfection or that “he” isn’t the original.
