Students at Two Florida Universities Want to Defund Police and Give Power to Activists
“provide citizens with the power to slash police budgets and manage all police activity and create the Civilian Police Accountability Council”
I’ve said it before but it bears repeating. The left doesn’t want to get rid of police. They want to become the police.
Campus Reform reports:
Students want local government to defund police, transfer power to activists
Student organizations from two public Florida universities are supporting a left-wing community action group’s fight for defunding the local police. “People’s Budget.”
The policy is part of the Tallahassee Community Action Committee’s (TCAC) proposed “People’s Budget.”
Campus Reform obtained photos of Wednesday’s City Commission Budget Workshop in Tallahassee, during which the People’s Budget was discussed.
This budget would provide citizens with the power to slash police budgets and manage all police activity and create the Civilian Police Accountability Council (CPAC).
Both the Florida State University (FSU) and Florida A&M University (FAMU) Students for Democratic Society chapters support the measure, as well as FSU Graduate Assistants United, per the organizations’ tweets.
CPAC would consist of elected civilians who are not associated with law enforcement. Regardless, the elected council would be responsible for investigating all “complaints and allegations of police misconduct” and penalizing officers who are found “guilty of misconduct.” as well as rewriting the department’s hiring standards.
Other responsibilities include “the ability to approve policies and procedures” and the “authority to rewrite” department hiring standards.
The Council would have “subpoena power” and be in charge of approving the yearly police budget.

How many of the petitioners are carrying a course load in real majors?
They are probably all in “studies.”
These children have been protected and coddled all their lives. They’ve learned to live under constant supervision, and they know how to please the adults in the room, while still expressing th need to rebel. On US campuses, playing with the left is acceptable, if not admirable. But dunces who can’t even figure out if their degree will allow them to pay back federal loans are in no position to decide what is best for society. If you hand over serious items to children, don’t be surprised if they break them.
These college students are so smart they think we don’t need police. Damn. That’s borderline genius.
A lot of shop-keepers and passers-by during the George Floyd riots wonder if we need them as well, given they stood there and did nothing…
Don’t forget tomorrow is George Floyd day.
Bring an extra mag.
The cycle of idiocy of the campus pseudo-radical never ever ends.
Reduce police funding until…. They need the police…. Didn’t realize we had so many snow-flakes in Florida!
It takes only two percent of the student body to turn them into a mob. Administrators know this.
Are they also asking for firing squads? Can’t wait to see what’s next.
Ashamed of my alma mater, but these a-holes don’t represent the whole university. They’re a pile of grifter parasites that you find at every school.
These are the same activists you see screaming for the police every time they venture out of their “safe space” and start writing checks with their mouth that someone sick of their crap decides to cash.
