Former Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid died on Tuesday. He was 82 years old.
Reid served in Congress from 1983 to 2017.
Reid announced he had pancreatic cancer in 2018, but it went into remission in 2019.
While Reid was in Congress for a long time he will forever be known for using the “nuclear option” in 2013.
The change ended “the filibuster on executive branch nominees and judicial nominees other than to the Supreme Court.”
The move helped a lot during President Donald Trump’s administration. Then-Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell was able to confirm a lot of judges.

“Former Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid Died”
And…?
And ….. We have Harry Reid and his nuclear option to thank for Trump’s three Supreme Court justices. Remember, it was Reid who pressed the Nuclear Option button to eliminate the filibuster on judicial appointees. He didn’t include the Supreme Court, but the implication was clear.
So, when the Republicans became the majority, they exercised the Reid Nuclear Option.
Well Bye !
A few questions about Harry:
1. How did the “poor kid from Searchlight” get so wealthy in public service?
2. Who beat the crap out of Harry a few years back?
3. Are the answers to 1 and 2 related?
How did the “poor kid from Searchlight” get so wealthy in public service?
I dunno, but he didn’t take any of it with him.
But for his family, I doubt many will shed a tear.
Not sure his family will be shedding any tears. As I recall he wasn’t on good terms with at least his brother.
John Madden’s passing will get much more attention.
A night-and-day comparison. Madden earned his stripes. Dingy Harry was a career Democrat pol, having lived off the sweat of others aka the public his entire life.
I can only hope. I am not a Football person, but I enjoyed the energy you brought to a game you loved.
RIP, Mr. Madden.
Am I a bad person? Perhaps.
This was vermin.
Is it unreasonable to think about Polosi and Hillary followingReid?
President Vegetable first.
Harry “Defender of The Second Amendment” Reid?
Yawn.
A lesson to be learned from this: if the port authority in your area suddenly names an airport after you, settle your affairs.
It should have been named “Sinatra International”.
And change the designator from LAS to RAT to commemorate the ratpack.
OOPS. Can’t. already taken. DOO for doo-be-doo-be-doo is also taken.
GRR. (also taken)
I was thinking RAT would also be a good designation for the Harry Reid Airport.
Nope: both RAT and DOO are available. In continental USA, you put the letter K in front of the airport designator. Examples: for New Orleans Monsanto Airport (now called Louis Armstrong IA), it’s KMSY. For Birmingham, it’s KBHM.
Now search for KRAT and KDOO and you find…exact.y nothing. So, up for grabs.
I know we’re going to stay sane and classy and not wish he burns in hell. Dems get excited and celebrate when their opponents die. We on the other hand….. we pause for a moment, remember we are all mortal and then get back to work fighting to save what we believe in. Got no time to belittle the dead. They knew we thought he was a PIS while alive, RIP doesn’t change the landscape.
I applaud you for your measured response.
However, I believe we are at war for the soul of this country. A man who told a bold-faced lie on the floor of the Senate against Romney, and then floated because he lied – but achieved his goal. I am not a Romney fan and never voted for him. But Reid’s lie was beyond the pale.
People like him can’t die fast enough – although by natural causes. I won’t ever wish for illegal means.
May he rot in hell. Now…. Who’s next?
“I know we’re going to stay sane and classy and not wish he burns in hell.”
Of course not. I hope he finds the accommodations very comfortable there.
It worked, didn’t it?
Thank you, God! Finally, this Uber corrupt miserable scumbag eats dirt.
The news sure gave me a Lyft… /ducking
Smoking too much bearijuana?
I wonder if he died of pancreatic cancer, or if his home gym got another crack at him . . . 🤔
‘Home gym.’ I wonder how many more years will pass before we finally learn what really happened to him that day.
It was a specialty gym provided by the Clinton Foundation.
He’s also known for making up, out of whole cloth, an allegation that Mitt Romney had paid no income tax for the previous ten years. After the election he bragged about the lie having “worked”.
Wanna bet that Romney gives a tearful eulogy?
Pierre Delecto will probably still attend his funeral in respect for his ‘esteemed colleague from across the aisle’.
I’d be fine with throwing Pierre in the hole on top (or under) Reid’s casket.
Everything is okay now. Romney had a talk with with him later and Harry apologized. He said. “I’m sorry Mitt I took you for a conservative.”
The reason Nuclear Power is on the backslide in our country. (His other Nuclear failing).
Don’t keep the Devil waiting, old friend.
As we look back on Harry Reid’s life, I feel as if I should say something compassionate.
We’ll miss you, John Madden.
There.
Here Lies Harry
“He can’t even stop lying now “
Not many will miss him, way more wish he was never born
I’m not a big fan of Nevada, but now I see a trip in my future, to piss on this vile, corrupt, lying motherfucker’s grave.
Come to think of it, I might just stop and get me a big ol’ steaming plate of greasy enchiladas on the way over there.
Finally, Harry Reid can spend some quality time around the fire with his Comrades, Ted Kennedy and Joe Stalin.
I was hoping he might repent.
fk him.
nuff said.
Nobody has yet mentioned the good-old-fashioned corruption, particularly in the matter of real estate transactions, that earned him the nickname “Dingy Harry” in the first place. So I thought I would.
Well, there is very little difference between good-old-fashioned corruption and the place he is residing now
Harry did not “earn” that name, at least to my recollection. Of course I could be wrong but I thought that it was conferred upon him by Rush.
On the uptick, I don’t believe that Dingy Harry and El RushBo will ever be crossing paths, again.
Rush didn’t come up with it out of nowhere. It was a reference to his corrupt real estate dealings.
It will be interesting to see who steps forth to speak at his funeral to testify to the wonderful person he was and to his number of contributions he made to our country. Lest we forget the humility he showed toward his fellow Americans and the innate ability to legislate on their behalf. Personally I believe Nancy Pelosi or Chuck Schumer have the best track record for trying to make Horses**t smell like roses.
” I have never wished anyone dead, but I have read some obituaries with great pleasure.” Mark Twain
Reid was a vile, corrupt turd. No loss for society.
One of my favorite headlines, that.
Harry Reid courageously fought the mob, was instrumental in sending mobsters to jail, was targeted for assassination, and was known to be Mr. Clean, even by the mob.

He also strongly advocated ending prostitution in Nevada, but the state legislature wouldn’t hear of it.

“Mr. Clean” LOL
“even by the mob” Who better to determine cleanliness than the “mob”.
Thanks for the laugh. Like all such, he was corrupt to the very core. Bastards like him make me wish there is a hell.
You’re a joke.
