Democrats Want Tech Companies to Implement ‘Racial Equity Audits’

Democrats want big tech companies to start doing racial equity audits, supposedly to promote racial justice in hiring and employment practices.
The truth is that this is all about power and making sure these companies are stacked with social justice warriors.

Democrats Push ‘Racial Equity Audits’ To Cement Control of Tech Companies
Democrats want to subject tech companies to mandatory “racial equity audits” conducted by their political allies, a move which could cement the party’s control of Silicon Valley.
A small group of organizations with close ties to Democratic politicians and progressive donors conducts the majority of these audits, which advocates say are needed to promote racial justice. But in practice, equity auditors often push companies to hire more left-wing activists and former Democratic party officials, often from the auditing organizations themselves. The audits also call for the abolition of standards of “merit” and the ability for a special executive to veto any company project.
Racial equity audits are the chief service offered by “diversity, equity, and inclusion” consultants, a cottage industry connected by a revolving door of Democratic staffers and funded by liberal donors. Equity auditors have made a killing from school districts that pay handsomely for consultants to revamp curricula, the Washington Free Beacon has reported. Now, racial equity auditors are setting their sights on corporate America.
The intent behind this is purely political, as Ruiz points out:
Color of Change has already succeeded in using racial equity audits to shape big tech policy. In 2018, it successfully pushed Facebook into completing an audit that called for more restrictions on Trump’s posts. Color of Change itself pushed for Trump to be permanently banned from the platform. After the audit was released, Facebook hired an Obama administration Justice Department official to lead the company’s civil rights strategy.
As I have been saying for a few years now, if you want to know what Democrats in Washington will do tomorrow, just look at what the campus left is doing today. The Democratic party increasingly bases policy ideas on the lunacy we see on college campuses every day.

Racial Equity Audits: A New ESG Initiative
The increasing focus on environmental, social and governance (“ESG”) considerations at public companies, including this year’s highly publicized proxy contest at Exxon Mobil Corporation (“Exxon”), has demonstrated the growing importance of understanding ESG and the implications it can have for investors and companies. Among the many ESG developments bubbling to the forefront of the markets in recent years is the desire of investors to see companies address social justice concerns.
In particular, shareholders have begun to request that companies conduct racial equity audits (“Racial Equity Audits”), which generally seek an independent, objective and holistic analysis of a company’s policies, practices, products, services and efforts to combat systemic racism in order to end discrimination within or exhibited by the company with respect to its customers, suppliers or other stakeholders.
Big tech is actually late to this game. Other industries are already doing this.

This is meant to replace merit-based practices with equity, which places power in the hands of the left.

Maybe start with local, State and Federal govt to see if it’s demographics align to the communities they serve or if some groups are over or under represented? Nah probably not, it’s easier and much more lucrative to attack private employers. Plus this way the d/prog avoid PO core constituents. This is rent seeking at it’s finest It’s a plan to extend the spoils system beyond political officials and govt employees.
Hire “Hispanics” from Spain, Portugal, and some So American countries.
Hire blacksm, ahh, Blacks, from Africa.

Everything is going very well. The place where they took the skin graft from my leg is completely healed. No more bandage there. The hand remains swollen, but I’m wearing a mild compression glove to get that down. I am also going to therapy for various exercises. The place where they attached the skin graft is still growing back, but later today I will find out what the doctor thinks. I still have to wear a trash bag over my arm to keep the bandage from getting wet when I shower. But, I’m back on the piano again, and doing relatively well.

To enforce what were formerly known as racial and gender quotas.
Support for such quotas never polled very well in the formerly ‘United’ States of America. So the Marxists had to come up with some other terms to use for what is essentially the same thing.
Marxism never polled very well in America either. So now they call it something else, too.
Just as they have replaced class with race, gender, and ‘intersectionalism’. Non-whites and women in general are the new oppressed proletariat. And white men are the new bourgeoise oppresors.
And the goal of it all is ‘social justice’.
You know what else was all about social justice? Communism. ‘Social justice’ is at the heart of communism. The end point of Marx’s and Engels’ ‘socially just’ utopia.

Not this shareholder! It would make me question owning the stock and definitely try to avoid being a customer of the company. But “shareholders” means big boys like Blackrock that do have these social agendas. They more or less own the government and corporate governance too.
I don’t expect freedom anytime soon. They’re too big and going for the win.
Whenever I get a shareholder ballot in the mail with one of the issues being, “such and such a band of woke assholes has submitted a woker-than-daffy-duck shareholder proposal that the board recommends you decline,” I first review how offensively woke the company itself has acted, then vote accordingly. For example, the board of Coca Cola can ask me to decline all the shareholder proposals they want, I’m going to vote for every one of them.

I can’t see how they can argue otherwise without racially discriminating. But I’m being silly here, we know exactly what they’ll do.
Forty years ago back when I was taking classes for my Computer Science degree the students taking the classes were usually causation male and asian male. There were a couple people of color and a few females but the math requirements usually weeded them out.
What has also changed is the educational requirements for IT. A business management of info systems hardest math class was accounting and in the late 80’s those degrees were taking some of the jobs that Computer Science guys were doing. Fast forward another 10 years and its high school grads with 2 week boot camp certs that are getting the jobs. It has progressed to where the HS diploma is no longer required and H1B visa workers are brought in to keep the wages to IT workers down.
