Virginia: McAuliffe Concedes to Youngkin After Many Thought He Would Challenge Results
This is a surprising and welcome statement from McAuliffe, who had retained lawyer Marc Elias to lead what many expected to be a long, drawn-out legal challenge to the election results.
The red wave that swept over Virginia last night is now complete: Terry McAuliffe has conceded to Glenn Youngkin.

Interesting
Even the cemeteries couldn’t save McAuliffe.
But it appears they’ll do the trick for Murphy (with emphasis on “trick”).
Challenging the results would only open the door to discovering how much the Ds cheated to keep it as close as it was.
At this point, my guess is any R who wins has to overcome at least 5% of the vote being cheated, which means they need to run +6% to reliably win.
Agree.
McAuliffe and Youngkin both agreed to abide by the vote.
Democrats couldn’t be seen being a existential threat to democracy.
10-15%
Unlimited, kf they want it bad enough.
No acknowledgement that the “values we so deeply believe in” are what lost him the race?
Youngkin’s margin was beyond the Dems’ margin of fraud. And you can be sure they cranked up their fraud machine in this one. The ‘official’ count has him up by 2%. So he really won by 4-5%. A swing of 14-15% from Biden who ‘won’ the state by 10% in 2016.
In New Jersey the Dems thought they had things locked up as tightly as they though Hillary had it locked up in 2016. Like in 2016 they didn’t pull the switch on their fraud machine and were caught by surprise. Now it’s ‘too close too call’ and the Dems are scrambling to manufacture the votes to squeak by. Biden ‘won’ New Jersey by 16%. If Murphy wins by a fraction of a percent that’s a 16 point swing. That tracks closely with what I think was the real swing in Virginia.
There was another 15% flip to the R’s in Texas. State HD118 is 73% Hispanic. Biden carried it by 14% in 2020. GOP candidate in 2021 won by at least a point.
Imagine what a real 15% swing to the GOP across the entire country would look like in the 2022 midterms.
The Dems margin of fraud is only about 1-2%. If they try to do more than that they risk exposure, especially after 2020.
I hope the Marxist Dems keep telling themselves it’s all about white supremacy, white privilege, systemic racist, and transphobia. While continuing to try to destroy the economy and spend, spend, spend like there’s no tomorrow.
The blowout in the 2022 midterms could be epic.
Which seems too good to be true.
There has to be changes in early voting, The “pause” in Fairfax was the Dimocrats trying to see if they could manufacture enough votes. Election Day is supposed to be Election Day, not Election months
Seriously, early voting started on September 17.
Youngkin won by two points, well outside the margin for an automatic machine recount and a hand recount has not changed the outcome in any Virginia race in my memory.
I doubt the true-believer lefties will do the cold-blooded post-mortem that every campaign needs to undertake to understand what went right, what went wrong, and how to up the game the next time. Don’t rule out the insiders who have won and lost elections and know it must be done. They are already thinking ahead to the next election and the Republicans should as well.
The proggies will just screech RAYCISS!! and double down on their insane policies.
He didn’t hold enough counties to rig it.
Not a matter of “If it isn’t close they can’t cheat”, but more a matter of “we couldn’t get it close enough even after all our cheating”.
I find it noteworthy that it was a statement released just after 9 a.m., when both CBS and ABC’s national morning shows had signed off on the east coast. Makes McAuliffe look like a sore loser. Personally, I think he was running for governor again with hopes of using it to make a presidential run.
His campaign people obviously crunched the numbers of provisional and mail-in ballots left to be counted and realized it was a lost cause, even though mail-ins are accepted until Friday. Those may make a difference in some House of Delagates races.
I’ll add that early voting in parts of Northern VA, including Fairfax County, ran lower than usual, which I’m sure alarmed the Ds. As well, unlike last year, mail-in ballots required a witness signature. The Ds tried to get that reversed and were told no.
Van Jones said on CNN that Glenn Youngkin is “the delta variant of Trumpism.”
That’s very dysenterious coming from the “e-coli” of Obamaism.
Several reasons for this:
1. I don’t think the Dems want too many legal challenges
-Might turn up stuff they don’t want to see
-Goes against branding that elections are free and fair the less we litigate or regulate them…they’ll get scorched if they go this route after the fit they threw in 2020
2. Rumor is that McAuliffe was trying to get a hold of Brandon admin late last night and early this morning and they won’t take his calls. Think he wanted to know if he’d have national Dem support for challenging the results. He’s not getting it and they’ve hung him out to dry. Good riddance.
Good win for Youngkin. Now start working laws to make sure all future Virginia elections are transparent and fair.
