A few years ago, during early coverage of the Arab Spring, I was up late with the TV on tuned to CNN. They had a video clip on a loop of festive youths celebrating, it played over and over, while Anderson Cooper opined about the events.
Suddenly I sat bolt upright: the faces of the festive youths were painted with Swastikas! I kept waiting in shock for the pundits to notice and comment on it, but they never mentioned it, and the clip played over and over.
The clip seems to have disappeared. I guess they finally actually looked at the video, but it didn’t fit the narrative.

I think our reporter friend is mistaking basking in the afterglow of victory as “friendliness.”
But then again, burning buildings and cars counts as peaceful to CNN.
I’ll bet she is one of those Yellowstone tourists who lets her kids out of the car to frolic with the buffalo or walks across a field to offer food to a bear. She’s non-judgmental and always give people and animals the benefit of the doubt.
