Biden Naming President of U. Penn as U.S. Ambassador to Germany

“$911,000. That’s how much Biden made as a Penn professor between 2017 and 2019, according to financial disclosures he filed during the presidential campaign.”

This is raising a few eyebrows because Biden worked for the school after leaving the Obama administration and made a lot of money in the process.

Forbes reports:

Biden Taps College President – His Former Employer – As German Ambassador

President Joe Biden on Friday nominated Amy Gutmann, the president of the University of Pennsylvania and Biden’s erstwhile boss, to serve as the U.S. ambassador to Germany, the White House told Forbes.

BIG NUMBER

$911,000. That’s how much Biden made as a Penn professor between 2017 and 2019, according to financial disclosures he filed during the presidential campaign.

KEY BACKGROUND

Biden’s role at Penn became fodder for Republicans and right-wing media outlets during the 2020 presidential campaign. “The former VP’s financial disclosures reveal that his annual salary was nearly double that of the average Penn prof — and he didn’t even have to teach,” tweeted Trump campaign aide Jason Miller last October, quoting a Philadelphia Magazine report.

Comments

Sure looks like quid pro quo to me. Biden gets paid almost a million dollars for a no-show job and in return offers a high position in government. Even better, the person offering the bribe paid it with taxpayer money.

Will the replacement as Penn President be an improvement?

Word in February 2019 (pre-lockdown and pre-election—and one year after she gave him the Penn Biden Center through which China funneled millions) was that Biden was going to give her the Secretary of Education position.

Maybe she decided she needed something more cushy.
