Facebook Wants You to Identify ‘Extremists,’ Warns of Exposure to ‘Harmful Extremist Content’

We know Facebook wants you to report on your non-leftist friends and any non-leftist views you come across on the platform.

Facebook needs your help to tackle extremism!

One notification warns you that someone might have exposed you to “harmful extremist content.”

Another notification asks if you have concerns that “someone you know is becoming an extremist.”

My friends received these notifications. Facebook has not sent any to me. Does that mean I’m an extremist?

Hahaha, you know I am because I’m that crazy ginger libertarian! I love freedom and guns and hate taxes! I believe in the traditional household: wife/mother at home and husband/father at the office.

The Federalist reported that Facebook joined forces with the organization “Life After Hate.” The group “provides support to anyone who wants to leave hate behind and solve problems in nonviolent ways.”

So I guess we can report ANTIFA and violent BLM rioters? From The Federalist:

This, however, is not what “Life After Hate” says on their website, which reads: “‘Life After Hate’ is committed to helping people leave the violent far-right to connect with humanity and lead compassionate lives.” The group asserts that “Today, far-right extremism and white supremacy are the greatest domestic terror threats facing the United States.”

“Life After Hate,” which “partners with [tech companies] to identify and defuse potentially violent extremists online” received a $400,000 federal grant from the Obama administration, but had it rescinded under the Trump administration. Additionally, according to “Life After Hate’s” website, race hustler and former football quarterback Colin Kaepernick donated $50,000 to the organization in 2017.

A Facebook spokesperson instead told The Federalist that the notifications were part of a test running in the US that “is a pilot for a wider, global approach to radicalization prevention,” and is connected to Facebook’s “Redirect Initiative.” Facebook’s website says their “Redirect Initiative” “helps combat violent extremism and dangerous organizations by redirecting hate and violence-related search terms towards resources, education, and outreach groups that can help.”

The new extremism notifications are also connected to the Christchurch Call to Action, an organization that “outlines collective, voluntary commitments from Governments and online service providers intended to address the issue of terrorist and violent extremist content online and to prevent the abuse of the internet…”

I love how Facebook keeps it vague. Facebook, Twitter, the government, and other big entities love to do that so they can get away with targeting a group of people without saying it. That way no one can scream discrimination.

We all know who Facebook wants you to report. Me. You. Those who do not toe the line of the Democrats and the left.

Extremist content? You mean the truth about the Capitol Hill riot? You mean any criticism about Her Royal Highness Kamala Harris? How about a love for guns?

I have not seen screenshots from people who click the yes button or whatever they give you. The Federalist has the details:

Under “You may have been exposed to harmful extremist content recently,” Facebook prompts users to “get support from experts,” which leads to a section asking, “What arguments do violent groups use to gain followers?” Examples of arguments from violent groups include “violence is the only way to achieve change,” and “minorities are destroying the country.” Under each example are bullet points where Facebook debunks each argument.

When asked by The Federalist, a Facebook spokesperson refused to answer how it defines extremism or what it defines as “far-right.”

Another big question is if Facebook is trying to curb “extremism,” why are they partnering with a group that solely focuses on “far-right violence.” The Federalist asked Facebook whether they are also surveilling and combating left-wing extremism. They would not say.

Surely Facebook will target ANTIFA and violent BLM rioters, right? They would not define far-right or far-left extremism so that means Facebook will apply these standards to all extremism, right?

If Facebook will apply the standards equally then cool. But we all know the company will only go after non-leftist and non-leftist views. It’s like stores dropping Dr. Seuss and Andy Ngo’s book and yet still sell books by Hitler and Mao.

People have already started having fun with the notifications.

Why is anyone with any brain cells still on Facebook? I honestly don’t get the willingness to absorb abuse and punishment dished out by Zuckerberg and his online army of Khmer Rouge wannabes.

Because it’s fun to see how many times you can get thrown in FB jail! 😉 It’s a way to show off your conservative bona fides, and it doesn’t take much – just call Kamel Toe a Ho, or point out that mentally deficient Creepy Joe stole the election with his most extensive voter fraud organization in US history.

Personally, I haven’t been kicked off FB (yet), but I got an honorable mention in the deplorables department for getting kicked off of LI for mentioning inconvenient facts regarding Kary Mullis, PCR tests, and “covid” in general.

Because some organizations dstribute their news and calendars on Facebook. Some use it strictly for that, my brother being one of them. He doesn’t “friend” people or any of that crap.

I won’t even go that far. There is a local ham radio club that – without my being a Facebooker – can’t get their meeting schedule or calendar of events. That’s fine; I can do without.

I subscribe to at least one right-side gun politics site that occasionally links to videos and similar materials on (other people’s) FB accounts to illustrate some issue. About 80% of them I can access, but the rest of the time I get “you have to log into Facebook to see this content.” The gunblogger realizes that many of his regulars refuse to use FB, but responds, “for those of you who make a point of telling everyone you never use “social media,” well, just so you realize you are ceding an effective ideological battlespace to the enemy. Until such time as it’s no longer worth my while, I’ll continue using it as ADVOCACY media.” I don’t see the value in a medium where they strangle you every time you attempt to advocate, but that’s what makes horse races.

The last couple nights (and again tonight) the National Park Service has been facebook-streaming educational events from and about Gettysburg. Very interesting stuff!

Until Facebook decides it promotes “white supremacy” and bans it.

Can’t wait for the little stormtroopers at Facebook to finally hear MLK’s “I Have A Dream” speech. The part about being judged by the content of your character instead of the color of your skin will cause some major triggering among our self-anointed moral and intellectual betters.

Because anybody running a small business who doesn’t maintain a Facebook site is at tremendous competitive disadvantage.

Luckily, I’m retired and I don’t need wall-to-wall business, or I’d have a serious moral dilemma.

Didn’t the Nazis in Germany want children to turn on their parents? Sounds like it’s happening again, but in this case it’s facebook and it’s owner.

When Facebook says “extremist content” they mean everything from the Aryan Brotherhood to Ben Shapiro and Prager University.

“What arguments do violent groups use to gain followers?”

1. Speech is violence
2. Working hard to be successful is white supremacy.
3. Joe Biden is a great man who won the election in a landslide
4. Epstein killed himself.

UserP in reply to irv. | July 3, 2021 at 4:28 pm

    5. Kamala Harris is an amazing VP who worked her way to the top.
    6. Jill Biden is doctor

Wasn’t the idea to bring people together?

As someone who recognized from their inception the dangers of these social media platforms being used to monitor, track and classify the speech and associations of the users into ideological subsets I can only say ‘I tried to warn about this’.

Those who willingly submitted to the corporate oligarchs have been repeatedly warned about the potential dangers. Perhaps this instance will shake loose the blinders of those who refused to see.

Oligarchs work hand in hand with the state. They each exercise power within their spheres of monopoly in mutually supporting efforts to reinforce, magnify and retain power and control.

All the while working to suppress and eliminate competitors to their shared political, ideological and financial regimes.

Turning online media into a women’s magazine is where the money is.

Nah, the real money is in data mining. That’s FB’s bread and butter.

If something is “free,” YOU are the “product.”

It’s only a matter of time before Mrs. McG gets notified that someone she knows is NOT ON FACEBOOK!!!omg!! and is therefore almost certainly an extremist.

I give it three weeks.

Or someone failed to display the BLM or rainbow flag on their Facebook page.

Snark aside, that day is definitely coming. Facebook (and other social media, for that matter) will start banning people for NOT posting Communist-approved content.

The problem is the whiplash-inducing sudden change in what content is banned and what is mandatory. Overnight “Defund the Police” went from the only politically acceptable position to a sinister RethugiKKKan plot.

JHogan in reply to McGehee. | July 3, 2021 at 11:01 pm

Big Brother wants to know, why aren’t you on Facebook? What are you afraid of?

What do you suppose would happen if people started reporting violent LEFT-wing extremists like ANTIFA, BLM, and racists like CRT proponents, or reporting the White House Press Secretary for spreading misinformation like Republicans want to defund the police?

I like the idea, but ultimately anyone who did that would get reported and banned themselves. And it wouldn’t be outside the realm of possibilities that the stormtroopers at Facebook would be annoyed enough to file a false complaint of “terrorism” with the FBI against them. It is obvious the FBI is morphing into the American Stasi, so there would be no repercussions for such a false complaint.

Still – throwing a monkey wrench into the gears of the totalitarian nightmare called Facebook (even for a few minutes) would be fun.

    nordic_prince in reply to Idonttweet. | July 3, 2021 at 2:50 pm

That’s an easy one to answer: as soon as you start reporting ads and/or pages espousing pet progressive causes as “offensive,” “repetitious,” or “irrelevant,” FB simply removes the ability to report and/or hide them. You’re then stuck with progressive garbage constantly clogging your feed, with no respite. Ask me how I know….

henrybowman | July 3, 2021 at 12:23 pm

FB: “Dear subscriber: We would like to understand you better. Can you tell us who radicalized you?”

Eerie whisper: “Youuuuuuuu diiiiiiiiid…!”

“Extremism in defense of liberty is no vice. Moderation in pursuit of justice is no virtue.” Barry Goldwater.

I hope that someday my name will be enshrined on the Face Book list.

I may need to join Facebook, just so I can report Mark Zuckerturd as an extremist.

“We care about preventing extremism on facebook.”

Sure they do. What a bunch of crap, What they really care is identifying anybody who is a conservative, a Trump supporter, or anybody who might possibly resist their liberal agenda.

nordic_prince | July 3, 2021 at 2:53 pm

Funny how “concerned” FB is about “extremists,” yet they can’t be bothered dealing with kiddie diddlers.

Mary, aren’t Libertarians more minimalist than extremist? Or at least minimal extremists?!?

henrybowman in reply to MrE. | July 4, 2021 at 4:50 am

Minimalists are extremists now. If you don’t believe HHS should wipe your butt for you every morning (just charge it to an infrastructure bill) you’re an extremist.

This should be the death knell to any conservative still going “government bbbbbaaaaaadddddddd private oligarchy gooooooood”.

CB will direct all concerns to the FBI

If you’re still using Facebook, no matter what the excuse, you deserve whatever they do to you.

I will enjoy watching when the inevitable evolution of this idiotic policy unfolds. When the self appointed Facebook apparatchiks, commissars, hate speech monitors, and assorted snitches turn on each other and start eating their own.

The words “extremist,” “racist” and “white supremacist” have lost all meaning and seriousness, when they are repeatedly and fallaciously invoked by the vile, infantile, deceitful and totalitarian Dhimmi-crats, as nothing more than slanderous insults used to vilify and to denigrate any American citizen who doesn’t march in total lockstep to the Dhimmi-crats’ obnoxious, corrosive and destructive orthodoxies and agenda.

A Punk Named Yunk | July 5, 2021 at 12:08 pm

I’m short on time right now so I have not read all the comments. My apologies to you if you have already voiced this idea.

I don’t think the FB warning mentioned what kind of extremist they want you to report. Hmm.. So complain to FB about any FB post by, say, Corey Bush or AOC or Mad Maxine and their ilk. They’re all extremists, don’t you think?
