Firing warning shots would not have stopped the attack which was seconds away from completion, and would have endangered bystanders, neighboring houses, and others in the area. That is why police departments prohibit warning shots.

“So wait, wait, wait. You would shoot the gun in the air like a warning shot?” Watters pushed back.
“Ah, well, hopefully to distract her and tried to stall or something so I could get — or my partner could get the knife away,” Williams continued. “Policing is tough work. But all I’m saying is, you know, I think that that woman with a knife is a danger to society and certainly a danger to the other person and we want her to stop and be disarmed. I just also think killing a human is pretty radical. I don’t think that’s a good thing.”

The shooting of Ma’Khia Bryant will act as a warning to everybody that wielding a knife in an offensive manner in front of a policeman, will get you shot dead.
Ma’Khia Bryant is an example of evolution in action, society is better off without her, and also others with similar traits.

I’m not very old – but in the last 22 years I have seen huge decline in educational standards, moral standards, public behavior, tribalism and a degradation of culture that sets this country back by decades.
It’s because people in power have done everything they can to beat down the middle class and to remove cultural ties that binds us as Americans. They focus on what divides us. Part of this includes 30+ million illegal immigrants – almost all from just a handful of countries and all of whom have different culture and language. Allowing that many immigrants from ONE RACE is RACIST. Imagine if someone proposed that American allow only whites from Poland and Lativa to “jump the line” and come to America. 30+ million of them. There would be an uproar. BLM would burn cities down. But the Dems have actually done such a thing AND would allow another 30+ million into the USA if the can. Damn, if they could make the USA 51% Mexican they would be happy to do it. They are at war with America as it existed pre-2020..
I hope it’s not too late – but it feels like getting America back is now nearly impossible.

From someone who is older, trust me, it goes further back than that. I’d put it at at least 40 years.
Not merely in an “offensive manner”, which would present alternative choices to mitigate progress. The assailant did not present a probable, or even an imminent, but an immediate, affirmative threat to the life of the unarmed girl. The officer only had one chance to mitigate her progress and save the life of her intended victim. Separately, there was the man helping the other girl to take a knee, and while that was vicious assault, it was unlikely to threaten her viability.
If IQ was converted to money, those two could not buy a stick of gum between them. Fake news CBS just had a police “de-escalation” trainer on the “news”. i’d love to ask them how to “de-escalate” the situation of that girl about to stab the other 2.
The basic message I keep hearing coming from the Left: Let black kids kill one another. It’s none of your business.
This problem is not just about bad parenting, it is also about all the problems which go with low IQ. Low IQ parents may well lack the capacity to properly raise a child.
This may be the reason that the left doesn’t give a rat’s ass about all the gang-related violence in Chicago, Baltimore, St. Louis, etc.. It’s just Black kids killing other Black kids plus some occasional, but acceptable, collateral damage like a 6 year old sleeping in her bed.

Yes, I read he earned an expert marksmanship badge with the M4 Carbine while in the military. So, of course that would be well within his capability, I mean, at least with an M4, which he should have been carrying to whip out a hip shot to harmlessly disarm the deranged knife wielding attacker.

Anyone who’s seen old 1950’s cop or western movies/series knows that the Good Guy never, ever (well, mostly!) actually shoots the Bad Guy.
Usually the Good Guy can just whip out his trusty six-shooter (Hollywood-variety; cylinder only holds 6 bullets, but you can usually shoot at least a dozen times before stopping to put in one fresh cartridge and then firing off another 4 or 5 shots) and shoot-from the hip…..and hit the Bad Guy’s gun, knocking it out of his hand. Every. Single. Time.

In this case, I think all of the “warning shots” were on-target.
It’s not just the academies who teach that. In the tactical hand gun course I took we were told that if we pull our guns out, it’s because there is an immediate danger. Don’t wave the gun nor fire a warning shot. That may be the only shot you get off.

I don’t own any firearms so I am by no means an expert. I have however grasped the concept of bullets being a rather solid projectile that can cause grave damage to a human being. So I am sure those advocating for gun control most be thrilled to learn of a bullet that disintegrates when shot in a vertical direction. No doubt the developers took advantage of the technology first used in creating early air guitars.

Whatever. When this officer arrived and saw that it was simply a group of blacks having a social get together he should have turned around and left them to their own devices. He wouldn’t be any worse off and might be in a better situation at this point if he did. No use in taking the risk of being the lone white officer dealing with a group of blacks. Of course, when the black woman was stabbed and killed the howls of outrage from the usual suspects would have been deafening. But then you can’t win them all.
Why white law enforcement officers continue to deal with blacks and their criminal behavior is beyond me. It never seems to end well for the officers these days.

Warning shots: Hey Juan, how far does a bullet fired from a standard police issue firearm (usually a 9mm) have to travel before it loses enough momentum and energy to no longer deliver a fatal injury? What is the statistical likelihood of said bullet actually traveling that far if fired in an urban or suburban area without hitting either a person or object? If an officer fires their gun and misses their intended target should said officer be held liable for any collateral damage their shots cause? What if the person/persons an officer is trying to dissuade from bad actions with a warning shot is either deaf or somehow incapable of hearing the shots?
Juan should volunteer to have all warning shots pointed in his direction.

Hey Joy, instead of wondering about the conduct of the police, how about wondering why is a 16 child attempting to murder other people with a knife? It’s illegal to fire into the air within city limits. Every year, at least in Los Angeles, officers are on the lookout for people firing into the air on New Year’s Eve.

If it were Texas, he could have lassoed the knife from a safe distance. But he had to shoot the crazy girl to save a life.
I don’t own a gun, but I did take a gun safety & target shooting class last summer. I learned several things relevant to this situation. One, you don’t do warning shots; you shoot to STOP the assailant. Two, you aim for the body mass because you have the greatest chance of hitting it (legs and arms are in motion and are small targets, plus you have a good chance of missing and, in this case, hitting the person whose life you are trying to save). Three, you keep firing until the target is DOWN and no longer a threat.
I think that Joy Behar and Juan Williams need to spend a few nights in a high-crime area without their security guards and experience the real world and then come back and opine about how the police ought to do their jobs. Oh, and take a gun safety course and see how difficult it is to hit a target when you/it are moving. .

About 20 years ago an NYC cop shot a gun out of a person’s hand with mini-14. For those who know the weapon, the joke which circulated afterwards was that he was aiming at the head.
A friend said that he he couldn’t get any ht/bodyweight stats on Makhia. I thought at the time she was pushing 200 lbs. That is freight train inertia.
