After North Korea’s Taunt, Biden Defense Secretary Says U.S. Forces Ready to ‘Fight Tonight’

Move follows North Korea rejecting Biden’s diplomatic offer for talks.

For some reason, the relationship between the United States and North Korea has chilled over the past two months.

The last time we checked on Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, President Joe Biden forgot his name and the Pentagon. And, as a reminder, Austin took office promising a military stand-down to address “extremism.”

President Donald Trump exchanged letters and in tweet-diplomacy with the North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, hoping that some meaningful improvements in the region in terms of peace and regional stability could come from follow-ups to the Singapore Summit. Biden’s team seems to be opting for a different approach.

First off, the North Korean leadership does not take the current Commander-in-Chief seriously:

The powerful sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un sent an eerie message to the United States on Tuesday, as Biden administration officials arrive for high-level talks in Japan and South Korea.

“We take this opportunity to warn the new U.S. administration trying hard to give off [gun] powder smell in our land,” Kim Yo Jong said in a statement referencing joint U.S. and South Korean military exercises in the region.

“If it [the U.S.] wants to sleep in peace for the coming four years, it had better refrain from causing a stink at its first step,” she added, according to an English translation.

Then Biden’s bureaucrats were completely rejected in their attempts at diplomatic outreach.

North Korea said Thursday it will ignore a U.S. offer for talks unless it withdraws its hostile policy on the North, days after Washington said it reached out to Pyongyang through various channels.

The statement by Choe Son Hui, the first foreign minister, came hours before the top diplomats and defense chiefs of the United States and South Korea meet in Seoul in their first joint talks in five years to discuss North Korea’s nuclear program.

“We don’t think there is need to respond to the U.S. delaying-time trick again,” Choe said in a statement carried by state media. “We have already declared our stand that no (North Korea)-U.S. contact and dialogue of any kind can be possible unless the U.S. rolls back its hostile policy toward (North Korea). Therefore, we will disregard such an attempt of the U.S. in the future, too.”

It appears Austin is taking some time off from designing pregnancy flight suits and approving more fashionable hairstyles to address North Korea’s verbal belligerence.

Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin on Thursday warned North Korea that U.S. forces are ready to “fight tonight” after the dictatorship condemned military drills taking place in South Korea.

The U.S. and South Korean militaries have resumed springtime drills in South Korea after pausing exercises last February due to coronavirus concerns.

Austin discussed the U.S. military’s commitment to “denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula” and “the importance of maintaining military readiness” during a press conference Wednesday.

“Our force remains ready to ‘fight tonight,’ and we continue to make progress toward the eventual transition of wartime Operational Control to a [Republic of Korea]-commanded, future Combined Forces Command,” the defense secretary said.

Perhaps Austin will start focusing his efforts on true adversaries instead of the social justice enemies that refuse to succumb to the woke agenda? Only then will the current administration have any hope of not being an international laughingstock.

I want to note that the press would have been in absolute hysterics if General James Mattis, Trump’s first Secretary of Defense, had said our forces were “ready to fight tonight” after experiencing the classic North Korean posturing and taunting.

Does he mean against N. Korea or against the loyal opposition at home?

Our troops are ready to fight? I thought they are on a 60 day time out to reflect on white privlege or something. What an idiot.

That’s what I want to know. Whom does Austin believe American forces are ready to fight? Is it Conservatives, Deplorables, Red Staters, White people, or horrid little Yellow people wanting to introduce the world to the joy of socialism? No can’t be the latter – while Atheism and weight loss programs might be PC, ‘horrid little Yellow people’ is most definitely not. And as the Left keep saying – acts against Asians are HATE CRIMES!!!

Guess American forces will have to be restricted to being deployed internally.

Brave Sir Robbin | March 19, 2021 at 10:16 am

Any opposition at home is disloyal, or have you not been paying attention?

Biden is gonna get us back into war(s) super quick! Russia is testing us, China is testing him, Iran is testing him, and North Korea is testing him. Biden will fail at least on of these tests dramatically (bullets will fly) and all of them somewhat, weakening the USA position in the world.

My bet is on wars, plural.

Big Brother will call them ‘kinetic responses’.

The BlueAnon media conduits of newspeak will deny they are wars. Calling them wars will be declared misinformation or disinformation. Anyone calling them wars will be labelled a ‘conspiracy theorist’.

According to the War games we couldn’t with a soap scrimmage against a HS football team

The global rogues’ gallery sees the Dhimmi-crats’ feckless and self-deluding response to the Chinese communist-created Wuhan virus bioweapon; their ridiculous obsession with “trans” narcissism/totalitarianism; their ceaseless racial agitation and tribal Balkanization; their vilification and purges carried out against conservative Americans; their despicable dhimmitude and obeisance to Islamic supremacism and totalitarianism; and, they just laugh. Why shouldn’t they? The rogues know full-well that Chairman Xi-den is a dim-witted, feeble, tottering, emasculated Chinese communist vassal/puppet/dotard/dhimmi who is transparently incapable of defending U.S. and allied interests.

More than that…..with decisions coming from the junta (Central Committee) …any quickly needed response would have to be delayed to prevent Biden from blundering. North takes South, China takes Taiwan, Iran closees Strait simultaneously and Biden will do what? Putin? He already has taken Biden down and Putin deals with EU as he wishes. The “rogues”. can do as they w ish.

I do rather enjoy Nork missives: Quirky, but more intelligible than our “President.”

That said, one wonders whether our current diplomatic corps could have done a bit better than Google translate. I’m fairly certain one would have small difficulty tracking down a bilingual Korean-American but, of course, easily accessed servicemembers from DLI or congregants from the local evangelical church are suspect unto a “clear and present danger” these days, alas, alas.

P.S. Sure would love me some “edit” function.

Latest video news–and, it could happen to anyone–Biden stumbles, recovers, stumbles, recovers, falls the frick down while attempting to mount the steps to Air Force One, recovers. “President” Harris standing by…

Yeah, I’m sure Kim is now shaking in his boots. From uncontrollable laughter.

The Biden admin has signaled weakness to the world. And now, as is the way of the world, the world will put them to the test.

China has already publicly told the Biden admin, directly and explicitly, it is weak and can be ignored.

With all due respect and credit to Country Joe –

Well, come on all of you, big strong men,
Uncle Sam needs your help again.
He’s got himself in a terrible jam
Way down yonder in (Pyongyang)
So put down your books and pick up a gun,
We’re gonna have a whole lotta fun.

And it’s one, two, three,
What are we fighting for ?
Don’t ask me, I don’t give a damn,
Next stop is (Pyongyang);
And it’s five, six, seven,
Open up the pearly gates,
Well there ain’t no time to wonder why,
Whoopee! we’re all gonna die.

Come on Wall Street, don’t be slow,
Why man, this is war au-go-go
There’s plenty good money to be made
By supplying the Army with the tools of its trade,
But just hope and pray that if they drop the bomb,
They drop it on the (Kim Jong Un (and his sister)).

Tinpot dictators like North Korea respect only ONE thing – strength.

And they can see Biden and Austin have none of it. They have absolutely no fear of either of these weak men.

Leftist children run our government. The great fascists of the worlsld might be sick, but they are not children.

America is now personified by its pathetic lwoman’s soccer team..

so under President Trump’s Administration everyone said the world hates us blah blah blah. I think now it’s safe to say they’re laughing their butts off at us

great unknown | March 19, 2021 at 1:11 pm

SecDef Austin is always ready to fight for Truth, Justice, and the LGBT+ way….

    to “great unknown” –

“I mean, you got the first African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy. I mean, that’s a storybook, man,”

A vote for Democrats, is a vote for wars, past, present, and progressive.

TheOldZombie | March 19, 2021 at 1:33 pm

“For some reason, the relationship between the United States and North Korea has chilled over the past two months.”

I think the reason is very obvious. North Korea understands that the Democrats have always been weak. North Korea now sees the Democratic Party is finally going over the cliff with the insanity of progressive politics. That the Democratic Party is about to kill the America as the world knows it. That Biden as POTUS is a joke. His entire administration is a joke. His VP is a joke.

North Korea like the rest of the trouble makers around the world are taking advantage of the situation. There is nothing to fear from a Biden administration except blustery words.

In retrospect, perhaps we should not have gone to war with Iraq and certainly not Afghanistan. Still debatable.
However, generals like to fight wars. It is what they are all about. General Stormin Norman Schwartzkopf was, I believe, the last real fighting-man’s general. Many things can and do go wrong but the type of leadership he showed allowed the soldiers, down to the infantryman level, to think and react as needed. Thus – a rapid end to the but-kicking.
I don’t see these generals being the same way. I expect we’ll be in a war somewhere in the next year or so. This is how democrats think they will be able to get the fly-over deplorables to like them. Sort of like Hillary Clinton having to dodge bullets.

My guess is Iran. Iran will provoke over and over simply because Biden is “in charge”. Biden et al will drop a bomb here and there and say “There!!! Take That!!!” There will be some sort of build-up and then the shooting will start. There will be all sorts of ROI which will end up making this another Afghanistan/Vietnam-type war where generals at their mahogany desks in the Pentagon will push little icons around not realizing that one icon represents a thousand or more men and women with families and friends they will never see again. The only ROI should be KATN*.

A better alternative to all of this is to not have Biden as POTUS but…! However, if we’re going to react to a provocation then do it right – targeting their precious nuclear facilities with a MOAB. Wait until the Ayatolla is out and about then blammo. Israel has used their F-35s and flown over Iran with impunity and Iran never even knew they were there.

*Kick a$$ and take names.

The Friendly Grizzly | March 19, 2021 at 1:52 pm

I get a more or less daily briefing email from Military.com. They have a very clever name for it: Daily Brief.

A lot of the stories they are covering are about all of the perceived racism in the various military academies; the new head of the Air Force has given top priority to battling white supremacy; one unit had their patch logo changed because it was considered something about white supremacy, blah blah.

Much discussion has also been about the destruction of unit cohesion because of the ladies getting preggo before deployment dates; the actual consideration of a flight suit for pregnant pilots, etc.

These are the priorities, fellow LI-ers.

Russia and China get copies of those publications. They are laughing their asses off.

BTW, it’s not just “unit cohesion” – it’s “social cohesion”.

We now live in an anti-white country. Must be first time in history that a country turned against the demographic majority but that is what they have socially-engineered.

The Friendly Grizzly in reply to Ben Kent. | March 20, 2021 at 9:45 am

The biggest problem is: the whites are laying down and taking it, quaking in their boots that they might be called raaaaaccciissstttt! We are going down the path of Rhodesia and South Africa.

This will sound very racist of me, but I am – if nothing else – plain-spoken. We lost control of a lot of our peace and order, and a lot of our social contract with the signing of the 1964 Civil Rights Act. Barry Goldwater said it would morph into far more than what it said, and the man was more right than even he could have dreamt possible.

This jackass Austin is just like so many of these ‘Perfumed Pentagon Princes’, elbows deep in the Defense honey bucket. They don’t care how many kids come home in boxes or with arms and legs blown off, as long as they can keep wars going and pad their bank accounts. Despicable bastards.

“First off, the North Korean leadership does not take the current Commander-in-Chief seriously”

Probably be a lot easier to draw up a short list of world leaders who do.
Could file it on my virtual bookshelf, right next to that apocryphal volume of “[Ethnic] War Heroes.”

Meanwhile, word has it that a Korean newspaper in Acworth, GA has a witness who personally heard Lloyd Austin say he was “going to grab that fat little g*k, drag him out behind the high school gym, and beat the hell out of him.”

I never thought I would say this and am reluctant to expose myself. But I’m sure glad my age eligible kids have no interest to enlist in today’s military. The incessant wokeism is nuts.

hate to tell you but they have this little thing called the draft, right now it only affects males, I would suspect soon females will have to registrar for it. the democrats will not hesitate to use it, they did for viet-nam, they even drafted for the marines

JimWoo in reply to ronk. | March 20, 2021 at 10:58 am

Hate to tell you this but right now they arent drafting males and haven’t drafted anyone in fifty years or so. By the time the woke idiots agree to reinstate the draft my kids will be in their thirties.
