Was Pelosi “orchestrating a military coup against a sitting president”?
Democrats, their activist media arm, and their Big Tech doorkeepers are perilously close to pressing their advantage far too far and alienating sympathetic right-leaning and centrist voters with their ongoing attacks on President Trump.
Not only has the sitting President of the United States of America been deplatformed pretty much everywhere on the internet, but House Speaker Nancy Pelosi reportedly spoke to the Joint Chiefs about stripping him of his Constitutional authority with regard to his role as Commander in Chief.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi spoke with the nation’s top military officer on Friday about precautions in place to prevent President Donald Trump from ordering a nuclear strike or conducting other military hostilities as Democrats seek his removal from office.
The stunning revelation came in a letter from the speaker to House Democrats outlining next steps following a violent breach of the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday by Trump supporters. Pelosi said she spoke to Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Mark Milley about guardrails in place that could prevent “an unstable president” from wielding the military or the country’s nuclear arsenal.
“This morning, I spoke to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark Milley to discuss available precautions for preventing an unstable president from initiating military hostilities or accessing the launch codes and ordering a nuclear strike,” Pelosi said in the letter.
“The situation of this unhinged President could not be more dangerous, and we must do everything that we can to protect the American people from his unbalanced assault on our country and our democracy,” she added.
Milley’s spokesperson, Col. Dave Butler, said Pelosi initiated the call with the chairman. “He answered her questions regarding the process of nuclear command authority.”
The sound bite of the day was supposed to be that she is safeguarding America from an “unhinged” president with his finger on some imaginary nuke button. What it was, however, may be considered an attempt to “orchestrate a military coup against a sitting president.”

Pelosi literally held a press conference the other day (and CNN reported it dutifully as “BREAKING NEWS”) that she had spoken with the military to be assured that President Trump would not be able to launch nuclear weapons should he decide to in his final days.

Our founders worried about a standing army. Now we not only have a standing army, but a professional standing army.
The professional army came long after my time in the military, so I can’t offer any personal perspectives, but there have been many generals who have raised red flags recently.
The enlisted ranks and junior officers I don’t know. But the officers O-6 and above absolutely would.
It’s protected speech; and even if it weren’t it would be protected by the speech or debate clause, as currently interpreted.
As we all know, if she actually thought he was “unstable,” she would never publicize her concerns, because that could push an “unstable” man over the edge.

He actually is one of the most stable high profile people I’ve ever observed. All he’s been through in the last 5 years would have wrecked an unstable man. Nancy Pelosi is a vindictive, cruel Italian. I know from first hand experience dealing with some of my own Italian relatives. These people have no conscience, they are ruthless and will carry a grudge to the grave. You’ve probably seen “The Godfather?” That is no exaggeration.

If a few hundred people breaking into a government building is “sedition,” then an attempt to subvert the constitutionally-mandated chain of command and to wrest authority from a duly-elected chief executive officer is certainly seditious.
If Pelosi believes that Trump is too dangerous to have his finger on the button, that’s what the 25th Amendment is for. Evading the amendment is an extra-legal end-run around the Constitution. If what she says is true, it’s an admission that she has violated her oath of office and she should be removed from her seat – and then tried for sedition. (Like that’s going to happen. She could admit to killing babies and, at this point, would be untouchable.)
No, it’s protected both by the first amendment and by the speech or debate clause. And of course she won’t resign, why would she? She has no shame, and she has no reason to care what anyone thinks.

You may not realize this, but LI is not a news site, never has been, likely never will be. We don’t break the news (outside of LIF’s investigative work), we just report on what others have already broken, often with our own “take” on it. Thus it has ever been. I already don’t link to a number of media sites that I, personally, dislike (for my own reasons, not yours), and when I do include them, I also include an archive link so you can see the original material without adding to their clicks. So yeah, I will continue to cite Politico and the Hill and a handful of other “blatantly bigoted” sites because they sometimes get things right. As here.

Why use two words like “military coup” when one word will not only do, but captures Malig-Nancy’s perfidy even better?
In the Navy we have the perfect word for it. Mutiny. The spawn of Satan went to the JCS and tried to pressure them to mutiny against their Commander in Chief.
Since mutiny is only a felony if you’re actually subject to the UCMJ, I suppose sedition will have to do.
The Privilege from Arrest Clause does not and was never intended to shield a member of either house of Congress from arrest and prosecution for a criminal offense. Williamson v. United States, 207 U.S. 425 (1908).
The very words of the clause “…in all Cases, except Treason, Felony, and Breach of the Peace…” illustrate that the privilege did not extend to criminal cases. Some may argue and try to make the case for Treason, but I’m not quite as eager since that is the only crime actually defined in the Constitution (Art. III, Section III). While 18 U.S.C. §2387 may not be a Breach of the Peace, it is certainly a felony to advise, counsel, or urge insubordination, mutiny or refusal of duty to any member of the military or naval forces of the United States.
I don’t think the Speech and Debate Clause would apply in this case because her action was not an integral part of the deliberative process by which legislation is considered and passed. Nor can urging insubordination, mutiny or refusal of duty by any member of the armed forces be considered a matter within the jurisdiction of either House. Gravel v. United States (1982).
