Trump Tells Congress to Eat COVID-19 Bill, Wants Amount Increased to $2,000

Pelosi conveniently forgets that Trump said back in October he wanted to send out at least $1,200 to people.

https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/1341537886315950080?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1341537886315950080%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.foxnews.com%2Fpolitics%2Ftrump-threatens-to-veto-massive-covid-bill

President Donald Trump announced he wants Congress to amend the COVID-19 relief bill to give Americans $2,000 instead of $600.

The best part? Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi “forgetting” that Republicans and Trump never once told her the amount they wanted to give people.

Oh, she also said one day ago that $600 is a significant sum.

https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/1341537886315950080?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1341537886315950080%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.foxnews.com%2Fpolitics%2Ftrump-threatens-to-veto-massive-covid-bill

From Fox News:

“I am asking Congress to amend this bill and increase the ridiculously low $600 to $2,000, or $4,000 for a couple,” Trump said in a video posted to Twitter.

Trump argued that the relief bill in its current form, which is included with $1.4 trillion in omnibus spending, has “almost nothing to do with COVID.”

“Congress found plenty of money for foreign countries, lobbyists and special interests while sending the bare minimum to the American people who need it,” Trump said.

He noted that small businesses, particularly restaurants, have not been given enough money after their owners have “suffered so grievously.”

“They were only given a deduction for others to use in business, their restaurant, for two years,” Trump added. “This two year period must be withdrawn, which will allow the owners to obtain financing and get their restaurants back in condition. Congress can terminate it at a much later date, but two years is not acceptable it’s not enough.”

Trump seems to think the COVID-19 bill and spending bill are one and the same.

Trump said that if Congress does not remove the “wasteful and unnecessary items” in the bills then “the next administration will have to deliver” relief to the American people.

Of course, Trump had to sneak in a cheating dig by saying, “Maybe that administration will be me.”

Technically, the COVID-19 relief and spending bills are separate. But come on. We know how D.C. works. You know they only separated them for show.

Either way, it shows that D.C. is willing to send hundreds of millions of dollars to countries overseas while giving us a coin or two of our own tax money. In a time when they should be cutting spending, they choose not to and treat us like dirt.

But Pelosi made me laugh because she used it as a way to smack Republicans. She also forgot that she said on Monday that $600 is a “significant” sum.

She failed MISERABLY.

This gargantuan garbage bill needs to be withdrawn and replaced with a clean bill offering direct payments to small businesses and individuals.

Trump needs to veto.
If they want to override his veto, then go ahead and do it, but Trump has to veto it.

He should, and then the RINOs are going to vote it down.

They literally couldn’t wait for Trump to be gone before they went hog-wild with pork again.

And yet they think they’re ENTITLED to keep the Senate.

The RINOs are a fucking disgrace.

Trump wants it – So every Dem will vote against him.
Half the Republican in the legislature secretly hate him, and want to put a knife in him on his way out the door – So they’ll vote against him.

My best guess: Veto overridden, with the Swamp creatures marked for future identification and primarying.

Yes, but WE are the bigger disgrace: we tolerate them!

Good luck selling that concept around here. We are expected to circle our wagons around the RINOs as they circle their wagons around the Democrats. That’s how it works. That’s why I am an unaffiliated independent. I’m still trying to get the stink off of me.

Congress thinks that with Trump out the way, they can return to business as usual. In four years they haven’t learned a single lesson from Trump’s election. Now that they can steal the election any time they want, why worry about those who need the most help. They satisfy their donors first. Bring back tar and feathers.

Bring back tar and feathers the guillotine.

The best comment I’ve seen on this so-called stimulus bill is one saying there’s been a spike in Internet searches for “How to build a guillotine with $600”.

(I forget where I saw that. Perhaps it was here?)

I like those portable crane rigs, like the utility companies use as bucket lifts. Alternately, a lowboy trailers or even a flat bed trailer could readily be configured as transportable scaffolds, kind of like porta-jons.

OTOH, a backhoe is even more practical since it comes with a trenching tool that is ideal for shovel ready projects! The front loader part can easily handle a dozen derelict congressman or nasty she-bitches as the opportunity presents.

One can always substitute a lamppost for the tree.

Plain old rope is far cheaper, and lamp posts are plentiful.

We can’t share a nation with people so crooked and/or so willfully stupid.

Screw it. I want $50,000 or it isn’t worth the trouble cashing the check. (/sarc, if anybody’s too thick to figure it out themselves)

Democrats can’t give up a buck without giving their cronies $5. But it’s the foreign giveaway that burns me most.

We are going to pay to build border walls in foreign countries again while Biden takes down Trump’s wall? Apparently we lost a major war along the way and it wasn’t reported.

The Friendly Grizzly in reply to Pasadena Phil. | December 23, 2020 at 6:47 am

We lost control of our borders decades ago. Demnocrats want the votes. Republicans the cheap labor (both fieldworkers and H1Bs), and the Church wants more Catholics to fill in the pews left empty by Americans switching denominations.

With Catholics it is much worse than they’ve become Protestant. Much worse. At least if they are Protestant they might still be going to church and teaching their children to love and serve the Lord, the Most High.
        They’ve become ” none”s, believing in “none-of-the-above”.
Or have bought the modern myth of feminism and the woman having a career before being a wife and making a home and having children. Too many priests and parishioners are suffering from poor catchesis.
The world was a better place when more Christians were actively trying to follow their faith.

This does not mean I have no sense of right and wrong; I do. If anything, my sense, and living up to it, is stronger. I cannot go through ritual, or, talk to some guy in a cabinet with a screen in it, and be absolved. I have to live with my wrong-doing, so I don’t do it.

That’s how they get their cut like 10% for the big guy. I have a feeling lots of Senators have opened an account at that “bank”

And McConnell felt a need to point out that this was almost the identical bill Pelosi stonewalled for months. This is the bill he was fighting for? Kabuki theater taken to greater extremes. It’s time to ask McConnell to come clean and tell us exactly what kind of deal he cut with Pelosi years ago. Probably something to do with the phony “constitutionalists” McConnell recommended for SCOTUS. This stinks to high heaven.

“Of course, Trump had to sneak in a cheating dig by saying, “Maybe that administration will be me.”

Drop the fucking snark and just report on the news for fucks sakes ?

If we wanted childish petty snark we’d be watching the fucking Democrat media propaganda on TV. For intelligent, rational discussion on events we come to places like this (and TPG ??).

Can we just for once have a bill that is written so a Middle School student can 1) read the language in it, 2) understand what it says, and 3) recognize the BS for what is written therein? The reason for the massive use of words is the massive cover-up of what it says! It is time to curtail the number of words in Congressional bills (5 page maximum for any bill, written in 12 point Times New Roman font, 1 inch margins of letter sized paper, single sided, single spaced) and must include the name of every member/all members who inserted the item into the budget.
In this time of crisis, mainly propagated by government agencies at the state and federal level, we do not need to be funding foreign countries, we do not need to be spending money on the arts when those museums, galleries, houses are not even open to the public, we do not need to be funding little pet projects of Congress-mutants, we need to be supporting the average working class American citizen who has been crippled by this pandemic and it’s associated lockdowns>. Why are we giving illegals the same amount as American citizens much less giving them an additional check just because they are here illegally? I would rather have seen an item in the budget for Congress for dictionaries so they could each look up the word travesty and have it on their desk to peruse daily!

I loved this short speech. The bill was an unbelievably blatant stick in our eye. I am so thankful that President Trump is still fighting for us.

‘Let’s do it!’: Schumer, Pelosi say they are eager to pass $2,000 stimulus checks that Trump says he supports

I’m not for spending money we don’t have but if you going to do it at least help the people you are currently screwing over.

It’s not a coin or two of our own tax money. They are simply printing billions and doling it out for libby pet projects.

Let us get back to work and veto these pork bills.

President Trump should veto it.
What are the Dems going to do? Impeach him? Threaten to steal another election?

Get ready to see what an unleashed Donald J. Trump can do with the support of 80 million voters.

Am I the only one who doesn’t want this “stimulus” funny money.

Look, this is DC. It has been this way for the last 100 years. The only thing which held it in any kind of check, was the desire to appease the voters so that the elected officials could maintain their places at the trough and suck up their kickbacks and pay-offs. Well, as we have seen in the 2020 elections, elected officials no longer need voters. Their political masters can simply manufacture the votes necessary to return them to office. And, those masters have to be kept happy. So, pork barrel politics is back in force. The most disturbing thing about this is that the elected politicians see no reason to hide this from the populace, any longer.

If Trump has any future plans that require public acceptance, he must veto this bill

Veto proof majority – but he can’t stamp veto.

BUT HE CAN, just leave it on his desk – unsigned (pocket veto) and it expires when the congress expires.

You can’t rename an “Omnibus Spending Bill” – a Covid Relief bill – when it only has 1/2 a page of Covid related spending on it. This is even more horrendous, than ACTUAL C-19 relief bills loaded with extra pork…

Apparently Trump doesn’t understand inflation. And this money is barely a month or two of cash, assuming you meet its needs test, which at $75k isn’t exactly rich man’s territory. The country doesn’t need cash it needs Congress to slap down mask and business mandates nationally. This cash is like putting a bandage on a bleeding wound you keep stabbing. The bandage is ineffective and pointless, and in fact will make things worse in the long run.

AOC has already submitted the amendment to change the amount to $2000.

Yeah, without changing the rest of it. Did she forget Trump also said to get rid of the other junk? She’s going to play the usual stupid games Democrats play.

randian: Yeah, without changing the rest of it.

It took months of negotiation to reach a deal, a negotiation which the president was notably absent. The Democrats fought for a cash payout, which was resisted by Republicans. Renegotiating the entire bill would take months, but a simple change to increase the cash payout could be accomplished if the Republicans would agree.
