Trump Tells Congress to Eat COVID-19 Bill, Wants Amount Increased to $2,000
Pelosi conveniently forgets that Trump said back in October he wanted to send out at least $1,200 to people.
President Donald Trump announced he wants Congress to amend the COVID-19 relief bill to give Americans $2,000 instead of $600.
The best part? Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi “forgetting” that Republicans and Trump never once told her the amount they wanted to give people.
Oh, she also said one day ago that $600 is a significant sum.

“I am asking Congress to amend this bill and increase the ridiculously low $600 to $2,000, or $4,000 for a couple,” Trump said in a video posted to Twitter.
Trump argued that the relief bill in its current form, which is included with $1.4 trillion in omnibus spending, has “almost nothing to do with COVID.”
“Congress found plenty of money for foreign countries, lobbyists and special interests while sending the bare minimum to the American people who need it,” Trump said.
He noted that small businesses, particularly restaurants, have not been given enough money after their owners have “suffered so grievously.”
“They were only given a deduction for others to use in business, their restaurant, for two years,” Trump added. “This two year period must be withdrawn, which will allow the owners to obtain financing and get their restaurants back in condition. Congress can terminate it at a much later date, but two years is not acceptable it’s not enough.”
Trump seems to think the COVID-19 bill and spending bill are one and the same.
Trump said that if Congress does not remove the “wasteful and unnecessary items” in the bills then “the next administration will have to deliver” relief to the American people.
Of course, Trump had to sneak in a cheating dig by saying, “Maybe that administration will be me.”
Technically, the COVID-19 relief and spending bills are separate. But come on. We know how D.C. works. You know they only separated them for show.
Either way, it shows that D.C. is willing to send hundreds of millions of dollars to countries overseas while giving us a coin or two of our own tax money. In a time when they should be cutting spending, they choose not to and treat us like dirt.
But Pelosi made me laugh because she used it as a way to smack Republicans. She also forgot that she said on Monday that $600 is a “significant” sum.

Why would a bill to fund people as the get past the government mandated shut down require 5K pages if you weren’t hiding something? How many congresscritters actually read even a part of it?

Tennessee doesn’t register by party. When I have lived in states that did, I stopped registering Democrat by the time I was 25, and I am 71 now.

I like those portable crane rigs, like the utility companies use as bucket lifts. Alternately, a lowboy trailers or even a flat bed trailer could readily be configured as transportable scaffolds, kind of like porta-jons.
OTOH, a backhoe is even more practical since it comes with a trenching tool that is ideal for shovel ready projects! The front loader part can easily handle a dozen derelict congressman or nasty she-bitches as the opportunity presents.
I’ve been a fan of “Rope, tree, politician/journalist.” for a fair few years now.

Can we just for once have a bill that is written so a Middle School student can 1) read the language in it, 2) understand what it says, and 3) recognize the BS for what is written therein? The reason for the massive use of words is the massive cover-up of what it says! It is time to curtail the number of words in Congressional bills (5 page maximum for any bill, written in 12 point Times New Roman font, 1 inch margins of letter sized paper, single sided, single spaced) and must include the name of every member/all members who inserted the item into the budget.
In this time of crisis, mainly propagated by government agencies at the state and federal level, we do not need to be funding foreign countries, we do not need to be spending money on the arts when those museums, galleries, houses are not even open to the public, we do not need to be funding little pet projects of Congress-mutants, we need to be supporting the average working class American citizen who has been crippled by this pandemic and it’s associated lockdowns>. Why are we giving illegals the same amount as American citizens much less giving them an additional check just because they are here illegally? I would rather have seen an item in the budget for Congress for dictionaries so they could each look up the word travesty and have it on their desk to peruse daily!

Look, this is DC. It has been this way for the last 100 years. The only thing which held it in any kind of check, was the desire to appease the voters so that the elected officials could maintain their places at the trough and suck up their kickbacks and pay-offs. Well, as we have seen in the 2020 elections, elected officials no longer need voters. Their political masters can simply manufacture the votes necessary to return them to office. And, those masters have to be kept happy. So, pork barrel politics is back in force. The most disturbing thing about this is that the elected politicians see no reason to hide this from the populace, any longer.

Apparently Trump doesn’t understand inflation. And this money is barely a month or two of cash, assuming you meet its needs test, which at $75k isn’t exactly rich man’s territory. The country doesn’t need cash it needs Congress to slap down mask and business mandates nationally. This cash is like putting a bandage on a bleeding wound you keep stabbing. The bandage is ineffective and pointless, and in fact will make things worse in the long run.

It took months of negotiation to reach a deal, a negotiation which the president was notably absent. The Democrats fought for a cash payout, which was resisted by Republicans. Renegotiating the entire bill would take months, but a simple change to increase the cash payout could be accomplished if the Republicans would agree.
