Joy Reid Tries to ‘Own’ Trump Over Stimulus Checks, But Makes Libertarian Argument Against Taxes
“Didn’t see Joy Reid, libertarian on the docket for today but here we are….”
I’ve noticed those that suffer from severe Trump Derangement Syndrome will even shred apart their ideology in order to own President Donald Trump.
MSNBC’s Joy Reid is the latest TDS sufferer to do this. She tried so hard to downplay the stimulus checks people will receive but instead admitted taxation is theft.
JOY REID IS A LIBERTARIAN.
BTW you all realize that check Treasury is sending you with Trump’s name scribbled on it is your money, right? It’s your tax dollars that congress appropriated. Trump is basically the guy who “lends” you back your own lawnmower he borrowed and has had at his house for months…

No kidding, ma’am.
This happens every single year on TAX DAY. It’s called tax returns. Libertarians constantly scream taxation is theft.
Thank you for agreeing with us!
She also admits that the government doesn’t give away anything for free. *Someone* is paying for it.
Oh the fun of social media:
?
No kidding. That tax money is mine? Like… my own money??
You don’t say… https://t.co/yKiVrCivjf

If you shine a light in her ear do you get a view master slide show out her eyes?/ That’s a lot of vapid individual.
Mr. 2smart, There are actually only two slides: Orange man bad and her picture in Webster’s under clueless.
We really need a minimum IQ requirement to hold office, I suggest 95. There are dozens currently in office who would not make the grade.
in the MSM, as well
she didn’t even get this right, she phrased it as if it was like the GWB stimulus where we (taxpayers) had to claim that on next years taxes. we don’t on this one.
yeah its our money coming back to us but its not really a loan. until tax rate jumps up to cover this fiscal abortion at least.
The woismeman has an IQ of 85 at best. Which is below average. What do you expect? She can’t help it.
Maybe this is is a ‘road to Damascus’ moment for MS Reid? Let’s see how long she holds to her new found libertarian philosophy.
and…. it’s over.
Duh, taxation is legalized theft.
And they take first fruits. Perhaps, if instead of mandatory withholding (begun in 1942), each person had to write out quarterly checks (the pre-1942 method), there’d be an awakening to the sheer size of fedgov.
Back in the dark ages Ronald Reagan, as governor of California, resisted mightily the state’s efforts to do withholding for state income tax. His argument was just as you stated: People should have to write a check for their tax bill. Only then will they really know what the cost of all this is. Taxes SHOULD hurt.
They finally wore him down, and I don’t what he got in return.
It would not be difficult for everyone’s employer to include an “IRS Notice Due” in the amount of withholding in every pay envelope, instead of as a line item on the payroll stub. People would take that notice, write a check in the amount, and mail it to the IRS every payroll period.
And they’d still have to do their ‘true-up’ on April 15. It’s not Tax Day; it’s True-Up Day.
Once we’ve got this going, then we could give everyone a 6.2% raise and let them pay their own Social Security & Medicare, too.
Take a look at the table of Tax Freedom Days going back to 1900 when it was in January. Today’s it’s in mid-April, and if you’re a producer (and not a grifter such as welfare types, and “working for the government” is part of the grifter class) but live in a high tax state (IL, NY come to mind), it’s even later. In 1789, TFD was in early January.

Perhaps there needs to be a sequel to Idiocracy, where the sane people moved to Africa and did a multiculti Wakanda while leaving the Democrats, #Never Trump, and The View hosts in the old world.
When I was growing up (I’m AARP), I could have a rational discussion with liberals. Today trying to convince a toddler to put down the lollipop and go to bed is often easier and more productive.
Atlas Shrugged needs to be rewritten as Aristotle shrugged where the dumb and dumber keep doing clearly stupid things, not the subtlety (or even not so much) in her book.
Actually she’s wrong. The money that’s being handed out isn’t tax money. It’s phantom money, that didn’t exist until they decided to spend it.
This is worse than mere theft. It’s theft from people who haven’t even been born yet.
Wow, they really have to let her out more often. Government revenue (ie, taxes) hasn’t paid the bills since 1959, the last year federal income exceeded spending. (That was during a Republican adminstration.) Everything since has gone on the credit card.
joy reid couldn’t debate an elderly goldfish missing a side and dorsal fin.
Government is just the name for things we do together.
Sometimes we pool our funds to do something together, less the inevitable “carrying charges” of course. Most of the time we do better each spending our funds individually. Less overhead and graft, more local optimization and oversight.
A widget is made by a worker who pays taxes. The company/corporation producing the widget is taxed. All the machinery, tooling, software used to make the widgets is taxed. The trucking/shipping company hires workers/drivers/pilots who pay income taxes to transport widgets. Trucks, ships, aircraft, trains transporting widgets pay federal/state registration fees (taxes). Maintenance/parts on conveyances for widgets is taxed. Fuel to transport widgets is taxed. Gas stations pay fees to remain within government compliance (taxes). Bandwidth for tracking widgets, either by radio dispatch or GPS tracking is taxed. A widget is taxed from point A to point B hundreds, even thousands of times. Taxes eat up a portion of everythingyou do, whether riding in an Uber, your healthcare copay, or chewing a piece of gum. Government gets a cut, and it is all passed on to the consumer (you).
The only one who pays tax is the end-user. Whatever taxes are accrued up to delivering the product are burdened into the cost of the product.
Leftists have this idea that companies pay taxes out of their own pockets.
You, me and about three other people “get” that. A corollary is that high income people, with the very significant exception of Government corruption, are high income because they have pricing power. They pass along income taxes.
Raise income tax and your cardiologist still drives a Mercedes.
Off topic rant
When you make an unreadable post by cut and paste of twitter threads, it is garbage. Sorry but ut is a waste of time
I know we call it Tax Day, but we really should call it True-Up Day. Company withholding, hiding the money before you even see it, leaves the false impression with too many people that that’s what your tax bill is.
It would be very different if Joy Reid, assuming she’s on a monthly salary, had to remit her payroll taxes to the IRS every month herself instead of her employer doing it for her: that she’d received an “IRS Notice Due” in the amount of the withholding instead of it being just a line-item on her payroll stub.
It would be interesting to do that with Social Security, too. Give her a 6.2% salary increase and let her pay the full 12.4% dunning directly out of her own pocket.
Back in the day–when I ran a company with a couple hundred employees — I was seriously considering grossing up everyone’s pay by the amount we paid for health, dental, vision etc. Plus an amount for income tax they would pay and we didn’t. How that makes sense, I have no idea.
Let go a couple drones in HR and get rid of a giant headache.
As you can imagine, HR was violently opposed.
We got bought by a Fortune 500 company, so it became moot.
Hey Joy, how much of our money did Obama give back to us in his stimulus?
*crickets*
Right, nada. Obama is the guy who borrows your lawnmower and then gives it to the unions and leftist NGOs.
He gave a first time home buyer “credit”, which was much more like a loan than a credit.
He also did cash for clunkers, which completely ripped apart the secondary auto market and gave car dealers all kinds of undeserved leverage in selling used automobiles.
Joy reid is moooochelle obama, less 300 pounds and a penis.
Both loudmouth, malignant dumbasses who hate our country.
May I introduce msnbc’s leading MORON! joy “AIN’T” reid
She is dumb enough to qualify for a congressional seat.
