Recently, Nessel tweeted “the high rates of infection and death within our African-American population from COVID-19 is staggering and horrific. It further establishes how AA’s are treated like garbage when it comes to equal opportunity and access to health care, housing, education and employment.”

A Grand Rapids federal judge has halted a new state policy that bans state contracts with foster and adoption agencies that refuse to work with gay couples.
The state’s settlement and comments made by Democratic Attorney General Dana Nessel about the policy prior to taking office show “that the state’s new position targets St. Vincent’s religious beliefs,” U.S. District Judge Robert Jonker wrote in his Thursday opinion.
The opinion comes none too soon for St. Vincent, whose contract for adoption services with the state expires on Monday.

Serious, in NY Fredo’s big brother Andy just shut down most golf courses for just this reason – pandering to class (and race) envy. They HAD reopened with the changing of the seasons, with semi reasonable sensible restrictions, no large groups, no open pro shops or bars/restaurants, etc..
Making them no more a coronavirus hazard than other open air exercising such as biking or running. But once the race/class nazis started squealing about him unseemly it was for “rich” folks to have an outlet, governor pander bear stepped in to allay their distress.
The ONLY justification for shutting down portions of the economy is to prevent the spread of the epidemic. Does she realize that her dismissal of prosecutions cited above are examples of the problem for urbanites in her state? By dismissing the cases she demonstrated that you can be as crooked, or at least incompetent, as you wish while you serve as a government manager, and face no repercussions for it. It’s a concern I have, even if I am [mostly] white. I work in a largely AA and Latin school district which has suffred a number of fatalities. Perhaps the difficulties many in these communities don’t have jobs that allow them to work at home; are under more stress; have a lot more health issues.

I live in Mich (for now) black people, as a whole, are doing just fine. Go to any restaurant, theatre etc and there are plenty of black people, often more than 50% out eating and being entertained. Anyone can succeed here, don’t listen to dems racist blame games.

I live outside Detroit and have two different employers, one in Troy (MI – Oakland County) and the other in Toledo (OH – Lucas County).
When I drive thru Detroit, even today, I consistently see people walking in groups, playing in the street (kids), hanging out by party stores and gas stations, waiting in long lines at a drive-thru. The drive south from Troy is most alarming because 75S remains partly closed so I drive surface streets.
In MI we love our Faygo (Pop / soda), Better Made (Potato chips), Coney island (Lafayette and All American), Beer, Fried Food and yes a high number of folks in the Metro Region still smoke. We’re not the most health bunch in the world! Obesity, high blood pressure (salt cobtributes), diabetes (soda and our beloved Paczki’s all contribute) and a lack of exercise coupled with smoking and alcohol probably isn’t helping (but, I’m no doctor)! Point is, we’ve got those underlying health issue that seem to contribute poor outcomes.
Sad that folks need to make this about ethnicity but not surprising. As Dennis Greene famously said, “they were who we thought they were”!
