And makes it look easy. Rick Perlstein’s pathetic, almost psychotic, rant in The Washington Post, In America, Crazy Is a Preexisting Condition, was was greeted by the nutroots as the best thing since Keith Olbermann’s “you are a fascist””you are a fraud””how dare you” rants. Rants are all they have at this point, so I guess you go with what you got.
Professor Stephen Bainbridge took down Perlstein like a good trial lawyer takes apart a lying, thieving witness; out in the open, methodically, step by step, for all the world to see as the fast talker is revealed to be a fast liar:
The classic liberal lie: “we lefties are rational, nice, kind people who are puzzled by conservative crazies. We’ve got no crazies on our side, of course. Just nice rational people like me.”
Read the whole thing. It’s brilliant. Here’s the ending, as the skulking, defeated, unmasked Perlstein walks out of the courtroom:
And so I have a word of advice for Perlstein:
You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.
But as Perlstein walks out of the courtroom, he has one last rant left in him, left in the comments to Prof. Bainbridge’s post:
I hate the Weathermen. Read my book. So does everyone I know on the left. And they didn’t have any friends who were senators.
Yeah, the Weathermen had no friends who were Senators. Ugh, Senator Barack Obama and Weathermen William Ayers and Bernadette Dohrn. Please, Mr. Perlstein. Stop talking. It’s only making things worse. At this point, anything you say can, and will, be used against you.
