MSNBC’s Joy Reid Suggests Trump’s July 4th Celebration Meant as Threat to Americans

“I hate to say that, but I think that Donald Trump styles himself a tyrant, not a defeater of tyrants”

https://youtu.be/R6S7DyMNmFE

Trump’s Independence Day festivities in Washington, DC, are going to include a parade which will feature U.S. military tanks. MSNBC’s Joy Reid is not taking the news well.

Before we get to Joy, I want to remind you of something Rush Limbaugh talked about way back in 2011. Rush discussed a study out of Harvard which found that July 4th celebrations make people more patriotic and more likely to vote Republican.

From Rush’s archives:

Harvard Libs Admit Fourth of July Celebrations are for Conservatives

From the US News & World Report, Harvard University says that July 4th parades are just a bunch of right-wing movements and Democrats don’t even bother showing up. “Democratic political candidates can skip this weekend’s July 4th parades. A new Harvard University study finds that July 4th parades energize only Republicans, turn kids into Republicans, and help to boost the GOP turnout of adults on Election Day. ‘Fourth of July celebrations in the United States shape the nation’s political landscape by forming beliefs and increasing participation, primarily in favor of the Republican Party,’ said the report from Harvard.”

“The three key findings of those attending July 4th celebrations: When done before the age of 18, it increases the likelihood of a youth identifying as a Republican by at least 2 percent. It raises the likelihood that parade watchers will vote for a Republican candidate by 4 percent. It boosts the likelihood a reveler will vote by about 1 percent and increases the chances they’ll make a political contribution by 3 percent. What’s more, the impact isn’t fleeting. ‘Surprisingly, the estimates show that the impact on political preferences is permanent, with no evidence of the effects depreciating as individuals become older,’ said the Harvard report.”

With that in mind, let’s go over to MSNBC and hear what Joy has to say.

Jeffrey Cimmino writes at the Washington Free Beacon:

Joy Reid: Trump’s July Fourth Celebration Is a Threat to Americans

MSNBC host Joy Reid claimed President Trump’s decision to include tanks and military equipment in Washington, D.C’s Fourth of July celebrations is a threat to Americans during an appearance on MSNBC’s Deadline: White House on Tuesday…

“What is the message Donald Trump is trying to send by rolling tanks down Constitution Avenue?” Reid continued. “Who is that message to? It’s certainly not to tyrants because he likes tyrants, he loves tyrants. It’s not to Putin, it’s not to Kim Jong-Un, not to the Saudis. Is it to our friends, to Western democracies who he doesn’t particularly like, or is it to us? Is it to the resistance in this country? I got tanks. I have this military armada.

The message is a threat, but it’s always a threat when you roll out your military. But it’s to whom is the threat, and I suspect that the threat is to his fellow Americans. And I hate to say that, but I think that Donald Trump styles himself a tyrant, not a defeater of tyrants.”

Here’s the video:

People on the left don’t want to celebrate America right now. They believe we’re in a crisis and they’re terrified that Trump might get a second term.

That’s why things like this trigger them:

Happy Independence Day, everyone. Have a safe and patriotic holiday.

I am not happy about this change in American Tradition. I understand Trump’s thinking on this – to honor OUR military, but I cannot like the change of military equipment down our streets.

But Joy is a bloomin’ idiot – Trump is not going for Tyranny. Nothing he has done yet would suggest it

Nasty things those tanks…. We maybe could have waited 200+ years and declared independence using only paper declarations and good thoughts to force the British out of North America. I’ll keep the tank as a reminder that freedom wasn’t free in the 1700’s and it isn’t today. July 4th celebrates treason, insurrection, and malice toward another country….fi r the right reasons.

Grow the fuck up for fucks sake. Oh…and enjoy the site of tanks rolling down the mall later today HAHAHAHHAA 🙂

    Your concern has been noted.

    IT’S TIME…

I think it’s time for President Trump to pass another Executive Order. It’s time to declare July as ‘White History Month’. The Africans have their own history month where the rest of America has to bow down and recognize was great advancements the African-Americans made towards America. Now it’s time that the 68% get to stand up and claim their right to brag about what our forefathers did to advance America. Perhaps then the naysayers like Joy Reid will shut their pie hole.

    Hot take alert

This is the same Joy Reid who thinks Antifa is *not* a threat, and that we should all welcome mask covered thugs swinging bike locks on our streets.

Hate to say that? She looooves to say that; to say anything deprecating to this president.

The solution to this problem is to require an IQ of at least 100 to run for office. There are far too many truly stupid people like Joy Reid being elected.

Considering the weird, naive and idiotic views of the high-IQ leftist intelligentsia, I’d rather have somebody with a 90 IQ and a little common sense.

      JusticeDelivered in reply to txvet2. | July 3, 2019 at 6:37 pm

Reid’s group has an average IQ of 85, how many have much common sense? What I was looking for with a minimum IQ was some level of competence. Perhaps we need a means to broadly test competence?

I am from the leading edge of the baby boom. I clearly remember 4th of July celebrations at the local park in the 50s in a suburb of DC. The local guard units would stage a mock assault of some bad guys at the stream running through the park with blank ammo. Even had full auto .30 cal machine guns. Kids would find brass there for weeks afterword. There would always be a Jeep and sometimes a tank we could crawl on.

Trump’s parade can’t make me 10 years old again, but if he gives some 10 yr old a chance to feel what I felt about America, bring it on.

A picture of actual American GIs giving some American kids a tour of their Tank should be juxtaposed against the infamous Tiananmen Square Tank Man picture…..with an arrow pointed to the Tiananmen Square pic saying “THIS is how Democrats want to use Tanks and why they want to disarm YOU!”……

    txvet2 in reply to VaGentleman. | July 3, 2019 at 4:46 pm

“”stage a mock assault of some bad guys””

They still do (or did, last time I knew) up in Fredericksburg, TX, home town of Admiral Nimitz, and home of the National Museum of the Pacific War. In fact, now that I’m reminded, I may drive up there tomorrow.

      Firewatch in reply to txvet2. | July 3, 2019 at 8:55 pm

Get me some peaches while you are there.

        txvet2 in reply to Firewatch. | July 4, 2019 at 1:25 am

I bought some a couple of weeks ago at a roadside stand. They were all overripe and they’re fairly tasteless as well. Vastly overrated. You’ll do better buying Florida peaches at HEB.

          Firewatch in reply to txvet2. | July 4, 2019 at 1:20 pm

Sitting on the husband bench on a beautiful Saturday with peach juice dripping off my chin is considered a great day.

May Day is Joy’s Holiday not the Fourth of July.

The Friendly Grizzly | July 3, 2019 at 9:10 am

The display of tanks and other hardware seems a bit… South American.

Something just crossed my mind… the story may be just that, but, some time back in the early 50s there was a parade with military equipment. The event was broadcast on the radio. One station had a bad location so the announcer was “winging it”. He heard a rumble on the street nearby and announced “and, passing below is one of our mighty Sherman tanks!” He held the mic out to get the sound. It was then that the motorman on the street car rang his bell.

Maybe you’re thinking of Eisenhower’s Inauguration, when he had a full military parade; or perhaps JFK’s Inauguration when the same thing happened, with tanks, troops, and large rockets parading down the street!

    https://www.presstv.com/Detail/2018/02/10/551949/military-parade-Donald-Trump-James-Mattis-Nike-Zeus-nuclear-weapons

As an American taxpayer, I would like to see the tanks and such I helped pay for. I want to see the high quality of our military. I want to celebrate the tools used to protect our freedom. Since when is celebrating our accomplishments and freedom a bad thing (assuming you are not a raging Leftist nutcase)?
    >
If these tanks represent a threat to anyone, then they are in the same inane class as those who fear guns. Both are inanimate objects called tools. My neighbor has a room full of guns and not one of them has gotten up and killed anyone, I have many hammers and not one has run out to kill someone, etc. It is not the tool to be feared, rather the person wielding the tool.

The Friendly Grizzly | July 3, 2019 at 9:13 am

VaGenteman: I’m a 1949 model myself. I still remember them the holiday on 4 Huly was “Independence Day”, not “Forthah Gell-eye “.

I remember we’d go to the drive in movies to watch the fireworks, then stay for the movies! Mom would make a big grocery sack of popcorn (no butter on it) and us kids would make one gawd awful mess in the back seat. Fireworks, movies and popcorn on a hot Ohio night. Welcome to the true America! We were free and didn’t hear people talk s*it against the country or against our president. People were proud of the country and more then one bloody nose was issued to someone with an anti-american attitude.

The Friendly Grizzly in reply to C. Lashown. | July 4, 2019 at 9:03 am

We were a more unified society back then. We had the idea that there wasn’t anything the USA couldn’t do. In short, we were still a nation.

She’s not an idiot! That would require a higher IQ than she has.

The level of projection is always a bit shocking to me.

He styles *himself* as a tyrant?

Next, perhaps, she can explain how he accused himself of colluding with the Russians.

Black brunettes have to be the dumbest ever. You’ve got Joy Reid. You’ve got MaxiPads. Who am I missing?

I often wonder, seriously, if this woman is mentally retarded.

EthnicCatholic | July 3, 2019 at 10:43 am

Tanks are Awesome, and are Always Appropriate.

The three key findings of those attending July 4th celebrations:

The most important thing for 4th of July is fireworks. Second most important is parades. And, yes, the parades used to have a strong military component, for one thing because the military bands are great. (As they still are. The Jazz Age in America just happened to coincide with the release of huge quantities of very good band instruments when the huge American military was demobilized after Armistice Day.)

Nowadays the big excitement is wondering who has fireworks and where do we have to go to see them. It’s pathetic. I haven’t seen a decent fireworks display on the 4th in about fifty years. I wonder what the Harvard numbers would be if officialdom hadn’t eliminated just about all the ordnance.

One night in 2000 my house started shaking (not really, but it sure felt like it). I went out to see what was going on, and all hell was breaking loose. The town was celebrating its tricentennial, and they were firing off the rockets over a reservoir, about a quarter mile away, so I got a hell of a view from my yard. It was great. It’s pathetic that the country can’t manage the same, and do it every year.

Bring back the firecrackers and we’ll bring back votes for things other than communists, weirdo-supremacy, and free everything.

Had she been born of another complexion, I doubt that we would ever have heard of her.

@JoyReid “The message is a threat, but it’s always a threat when you roll out your military. But it’s to whom is the threat, and I suspect that the threat is to his fellow Americans.”

Ehh…A puny threat compared to Eric Swalwell’s boast that 2nd amendment supporting Americans faced their own government’s nuclear weapons

FFS, DJT is a builder, and a sucker for machinery. He likes truck and airplanes, too. That’s all I see in his ideas for a big 4th party, that and a super fireworks display.

There are several great places to be on the 4th. The Mall and Chicago waterfront, as well as the suburbs of Salt Lake City (Big bowl, several shows at once) are memorable.

I was on the Mall one year when half a million people showed up. It was amazing. This will be better.

And, I think the American people should be allowed to see all that equipment they pay for.

Well said. DJT is status conscious and loves the bling. May the 4th be well celebrated and if Antifa or similar dregs show up, anywhere, kill them on site and then disappear into the beautiful crowd of anonymity.

JusticeDelivered in reply to CalFed. | July 4, 2019 at 8:49 pm

He likes iron, as in big machines. So do I, the biggest is an 80,000 pound Cat 988 front end loader. That is light compared to those tanks.

Sez the woman who works for an organization that is calling for a coup against a duly elected President, promotes censorship and undermining to rule of law by discarding due process, loudly and openly advocates communism, and supports domestic terrorist groups which attack and try to murder those they disagree with.

This explains why Facebook is suddenly hiding pictures behind warnings….”may contain pictures of Tanks and Guns”!

Joy es una pendeja

Such a “Joy”

Joy Reid represents the “wussification” of America. American football is a brutish sport which should be outlawed. Normal male assertiveness is toxic masculinity. A touch to the hand, during courtship, becomes rape. Male ownership or possession of any weapon is a sign of a potential serial killer. And, of course, any organization which may use physical force to protect society is a bunch of totalitarian NAZI thugs. But, when a woman has a knife to her throat and a man is threatening to rape and kill her, she wants a male protector. And she wants that man to be big, strong, mean and heavily armed.

Well, the protector of the Union is the US military. And, those of us whom they protect want the military to be big, strong, mean and heavily armed. And, we want our enemies to see them that way as well.

Independence Day is more than the celebration of the eight year war which gained the original thirteen colonies their independence from England. It is a reminder of the fact that freedom is not free. That a free people has to be prepared to defend that freedom, or someone will come along and take it away from them. When we display OUR might, not the government’s, we send the message to everyone, foreign and domestic, that WE THE People will resist the efforts of anyone to strip us of the freedoms which we have have won and fought to maintain for centuries. So, the presence of armor belonging to the USA, sitting on the Mall in DC, makes me feel secure. If the tanks were Chinese, then not so much.

A bulb so incredibly dim…

Reid is so dense. Were it not for affirmative action, she wouldn’t even be allowed on the Harvard campus.

The Friendly Grizzly | July 3, 2019 at 1:53 pm

Empty barrels make the most noise.

No tanks thanks! Marianne Williamson sends her messages of LOVE for Independence Day: “The top of one mountain is always the bottom of another “. Let love lift that 70 ton tank down Constitution Avenue. Hope all enjoy Woodstock 2019 in Washington DC tomorrow. And may LOVE. Bring us 4 more years of Trump

To be fair, tanks are a really bad idea for this. They’re going to do a lot of damage to the roads and the parkland. MBTs are heavy, fugly beasts that are not designed to respect the (enemy’s) shrubbery.

They don’t have the same cachet, but a couple of APCs rolling down the Mall will give much the same effect.

    scooterjay in reply to daniel_ream. | July 3, 2019 at 6:01 pm

You have obviously never been to a Veteran’s Day parade…..they have rubber tread covers on tracked vehicles specifically for use on public roadways.
Nice try, concern troll…….now, go away!

    Mac45 in reply to daniel_ream. | July 3, 2019 at 6:39 pm

My understanding of the plan was for the armor to be moved to a given location for a static display. This would be accomplished through the use of a tank transporter, which is a large tractor trailer rig designed for road transport of tanks and other armored vehicles. There might be some damage to grass, but it would be minimal and easily repaired.

David Block | July 3, 2019 at 6:53 pm

Bat guano crazy loon.

I don’t know why it is, but I’ve known several women named “Joy,” and they’ve all been addled & full of misery.

One was a hypochondriac; she had a dozen doctors that each gave her prescriptions for a different imaginary ailment (that she was certain she actually had,) then she’d mix & match the drugs to make her own witch’s brew. She could never go anywhere, she had to take her drugs each couple of hours, but with or without them she was a nervous wreck.

Several of her doctors recommended she see a psychiatrist, but that was the one type of doctor she refused to see.

Most of the time she was incoherent; then she sounded a lot like Joy Reid!

Terence G. Gain | July 4, 2019 at 7:57 am

How would Reid propose that Trump defeat tyrants? I need to know.

Yes, the celebration of America is a threat to America! Dolts.
