Former President George H.W. Bush in Intensive Care With Blood Infection
Admitted to hospital on Sunday.
Former President George H.W. Bush is in intensive care with a blood infection. He buried his beloved wife Barbara on Saturday after 73 years of marriage. From CNN:
“President Bush was admitted to the Houston Methodist Hospital yesterday morning after contracting an infection that spread to his blood. He is responding to treatments and appears to be recovering. We will issue additional updates as events warrant,” spokesman Jim McGrath said in a statement.
Bush was admitted to the hospital on Sunday morning, he was suffering from an infection that led to sepsis, which can be life-threatening, according to a source close to the former President. He was in critical condition, the source said.
The source told CNN that “Bush’s blood pressure kept dropping and a couple of times there was serious concern about whether he was going to come through, but that he had been stabilized.”
Bush stayed by Barbara’s side and held her hand all day when she passed away.
Last April, Bush stayed in a hospital for two weeks due to pneumonia. In early 2017, he was in the hospital for pneumonia as well for 16 days and needed a ventilator in the ICU.
Bush served as a congressman, CIA director, and vice president under President Ronald Reagan from 1981 to 1989. He served as president from 1989 to 1993.

God be with him
After a man has been with a woman for 73 years, I’m pretty sure he wouldn’t want to live without her.
Sepsis may be the diagnosis, but broken heart is the root cause.
There is actually quite a bit of evidence to support just that. Many spouses who have been together for decades pass within a very short time of each other. Happened with my grandparents, Gran passes and Papa just didn’t know what to do with himself, he pass just over a year later, they had been married for 68 years when Gran died.
my husband and I were talking about that tonight. Their kids are gone and now that Barbara is gone, there’s nothing left to keep him here. I’m sure he’s anxious to be reunited with her.
Not to detract from his Presidency, but I’m a bigger fan of all he did his entire life leading up to that.
Note to Ross Perot. Look at Trump if you want to know how to piss off the establishment.
I think that he might have considered a greater accomplishment to have been a Navy torpedo/bomber pilot in WWII. He was shot down twice.
I think that President Bush can rest assured that when he goes it will be after a life well lived.
I actually voted for Reagan expecting him to get shot and Bush would take over. Was moved by him saving his buddies when the plane went down.
I guess he did not save his buddies. They were lost in the crash after the bombing run. I thought I read somewhere that he help save some guys too. It was 1979 when I read that. Either way, I wanted Bush instead of Reagan back then. Hindsight, I am glad Reagan got it. Disappointed that Bush did not beat Clinton for the 92.
Of the 9 crew members that went down , Bush Sr. Was the sole survivor. The others apparently survived long enuf to be captured by the Japanese, but were killed by their captors. Besides being tortured and killed, some of them suffered the further indignity of being eaten by their captors. No Shit.

At least one Japanese officer was hung for his canibalism after the war.
To any idiot who still thinks that nuking the Japanese was uncalled for, I would suggest they read about the actual history of Japanese behavior during the war. Especially how they treated the Chinese and other “brown brothers” under their yoke.
Modern times, Japan is a friend and ally. But it’s only because of the sacrifices and heroism of folks like Bush Sr. that became the new reality.
I once practiced in an office on Woodway in Houston, in the shopping “village” that the elder Bush couple frequented. They were universally known as sweet, gracious people who everyone loved. There was a pizza place they frequented where everyone, bottom to top, delighted in their custom. Not something you see commonly in an ex-president and his lady.
Just to stay in line with Randa Jarrar; his ‘blood infection’ is probably Ebola delivered to him via nurse by the Obama administration.
I too think that George Bush is longing to join his wife. Those are my sentiments too, exactly, having buried my wife of 53 years a few days ago.
Condolences on you loss.
Words can’t cut it, but my deepest sympathy to you. I just lost my husband on April 1, and I will admit my first thought was of envy that Mr Bush would be joining his wife. My hope would be that he be made comfortable, no pain, and just be allowed to join Barbara…I suspect that is what he’s thinking.
Condolences to you, as well. I will pray for your comfort and peace in this heart-breaking time.
Tory, I will keep you, too, in my thoughts and prayers. I’m so sorry for your loss.
I am so very, very sorry for your loss.
My father died December 28, 2017. He and my mother were married for 49 years, she is having a hard time figuring out what ‘normal’ is for her, now.
I miss him, too.
My heart goes out to you, fankiefrank. I am so sorry for your loss and will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
I had nothing to say regarding the passing of Fmr. First Lady Barbara Bush. She was a handsome woman… She was full of life, I cannot recall any bonehead statements by First Lady Barbara Bush. Nancy Reagan had a lot to say and a lot I agreed but Nancy was a nut job at times, I remember her fondly mostly due to her devotion and care to RR during the last years of his life.
Years ago I used to subscribe to a lot of tech mags and in one scholarly article it was explained that husband and wife over time begin to look alike. They begin to look alike because they go through life and share the same joys, and smile. They go through life and battle together the hard times and have the same grimace. Our lives are sometimes written on our faces.
It does not surprise me to hear that Herbert Walker Bush is going to leave us so close to the passing of his beloved wife Barbara. I would be crushed and devastated in similar situation and I have not yet achieved my goal of being married to my wife for 50 years or more.
Everyone wants to go to heaven but few people want to die. I believe that death is only a problem for the living.
I realized, after my father died, how much he and my mom were in love still after all those years. One doesn’t think too much about it when they’re still with you, after all they’re your parents, right.
My mother was in fine health and very active and working in the community and continued that way right up until the day I was told she’d died. There was no medical reason, she was in good health and as I said, she was still active and serving in the community. As I thought about it, I realized that this was a tender mercy from the Lord because she just couldn’t stand being away from him any more and he let them be together again.
and right now he wants to get better and come to home in kennebunkport thereby screwing the lives of people that live there.
ugh.

hate driving down there its a collosal cluster when they visit the bushes visit their summer home.
hope he gets better and moves in with one of kids.
Used to work in DC and live in suburbs – traffic occasionally get messed up whenever Sexret Service convoys had to secure a route – came with the territory, unfortunately. Didn’t mind too much – especially as normal DC traffic was often messed up anyway and the then presidents (Carter, then Reagan) both had reputations as normal, nice people when interacting with the public.
Bush Sr., (even Jr.) as well. Clinton’s…. Not so much. Probably why so many press outlets jumped on the $200 haircut shut down LAX story with both feet.
https://www.nytimes.com/1993/05/21/us/haircut-grounded-clinton-while-the-price-took-off.html
Yup, I know already know snopes says the story was fake. But – snopes pro Lib bias set aside, a LOT of friendly to Libs press ran the story. The Clinton’s had recently fired the WH travel office to turn what had always been a smoothly running non-partisan function into a patronage prize for a relation who had some teething problems with taking over. Pissing off the press who LIKED the nice, professional guys and gals who saw to it that there were few or no snafus when the press traveled with the WH folks.
Then to put the lipstick on the pig, the WH (cough, Hill, cough) illegally back-dated docs on opening an investigation to try to make it look like the firings were for just cause, instead of patronage. The investigation into the investigation never proved WHO back-dated the docs, but it did prove that they WERE back-dated. And the list of possibles was pretty small.
There’s more than one reason Hillary had such high negatives. The fact that she and her husband have a looooong history of getting away with mistreating folks and shady shenanigans had. IMHO, a lot more to do with her recent electoral defeat than any fakenews conspiracy by “they” or “them”.
