In November 2016, New York City’s Trump Tower became the focus of national attention as the unofficial transitional “White House” as President-Elect Donald Trump prepared to take the reins of power.

This Saturday, Trump Tower was the epicenter of news again. A fire swept through the 50th floor and claimed one life.

A middle-aged man died after being pulled from a four-alarm blaze on the 50th floor of the Trump Tower in New York Saturday evening.

The unidentified 67-year-old man was unconscious and unresponsive when he was removed from the Midtown skyscraper and rushed to Mount Sinai Roosevelt Hospital. He was initially listed in critical condition, but pronounced dead later in the evening, according to the NYPD.

Flames and smoke were spotted billowing and debris raining down from the 50th floor of the Trump Tower around 5:30 p.m.

Besides the one fatality, four FDNY firefighters suffered non-life-threatening injuries — two of them burn-related, FDNY Commissioner Daniel Nigro said during a press conference.

The New York City Fire Commissioner offered additional details in a press briefing:

“The apartment was virtually entirely on fire. They pushed in heroically, they were knocking down the fire, they found one occupant of the apartment on the 50th floor,” Fire Commissioner Daniel Nigro said.

Nigro said units went up with the Secret Service to check President Trump’s residence. Some smoke reached some of floors above the fire, he said, but it was unclear if it had reached Mr. Trump’s residence. There were no members of first family in residence.

The building is the home of the Trump Organization, as well as a number of other businesses. The cause of this blaze is currently unknown. There was another fire in Trump Tower this past January, which was determined to be caused by a problem with the building’s heating/cooling system.

The residents inside Trump Tower went through quite an ordeal.

Lalitha Masson, a 76-year-old 36th-floor resident, told the New York Post the blaze was frightening.

‘We’re terrified. It was a very horrible experience, there was no evacuation system in place, we were at a loss of what to do. I almost fainted, I thought we would die,’ she said.

‘This looks similar to when 9/11 took place. My husband is disabled and we were helpless. All we could do is put wet towels under the door and pray.’

Incredibly Masson says she learned about the fire on the television from inside her 36th floor apartment.

‘When I saw the television, I thought we were finished,’ said Masson told the New York Times. Her husband, Narinder, who is 79 has Parkinson’s disease.

‘I started praying That this was our end. I called my oldest son and said goodbye to him because the way it looked everything was falling out of the window, and it reminded me of 9/11.’

President Trump used Twitter to keep everyone apprised of the developments during the incident.

As all this terror and tragedy was occurring, the #Resistance cheered.

Singer David Crosby tweeted something so tasteless, it was quickly deleted. Too bad many of us know how to take a screen shot.

Others offered their sick, twisted theories that President Trump was destroying records ahead of a showdown with Muller.

The glee at the tragedy was not confined to Twitter, either. Here is a snippet from an ABC article’s comment section.

I will simply point out that when U. S. Senators decide that it is all right to make wise cracks about the demise of the U. S. President, which goes unchallenged by the American media or our nation’s other representatives, then we have hit a dark, new low in decorum and respect. It also gives nutcases encouragement to act out their sick, marshmallow-roasting death fantasies.

Prayers are on their way for the speedy healing of the hero firefighters who stopped this blaze from spreading further.

Finding hateful idiots on the interwebs is as easy as finding bacteria on your floor.

And as useful and informative.

Good grief. Many of the highlighted comments aren’t coming from just any basement dwelling anonymous and bored trolls. Who would trust a mental health professional who wishes death or destruction on people because of politics, for example?

Consider it a blessing in disguise when Leftists inadvertently remove their “compassionate” veils…to reveal their true nature…

We must endeavor to never forget…

I thought I had seen the ultimate in lack of self-awareness. I was wrong.

Well, Rags, you can take (small) comfort in knowing that a “hateful idiot” is always in the closest mirror.

“Finding hateful idiots on the interwebs is as easy as finding bacteria on your floor.”

That is true. And yet you took time out of your day, not to hope that the dead and injured will be okay, but to wave away the disgust expressed toward vile comments. Completely unsuprised that’s where your priorities lie.

Ragspierre in reply to elle. | April 8, 2018 at 11:54 pm

      “…wave away…”???

What part of “hateful idiots” did you NOT understand?

      You hateful idiot.

I very seldom post here about my hopes and concerns for the victims of terrible happenings. Unlike some, I don’t need to signal my virtues. They are my own private impulses.

        LOL

NeverTrumper defends his fellow Democrats implying “both sides do it”. Goes on to be hired by The Atlantic and fired next day. Film at 11.

“Oh sorry honey. I didn’t know this was a reboot. Want to watch Justice League again instead?”

In human history it is the mob of foul mouthed bozos and in that wake, the brutal thugs, who always overrun any unstructured public discourse on the most important subjects of the time that in any way connect to the morality of a culture. “Most important subjects” is a wide-cast set, as it runs to gamut from sports talk, to politics local and global and general, to workplace and economic issues, also local and global. And to idea philosophical-moral issues of the day.

Trump is one of those issues. And he is as great an issue as was Lincoln, Washington, Adams, Jefferson.

The purpose of such feral mouth discussions, which incorporate in their wake real violence, is to keep the spirit of Heaven, the light of the Holy from touching the ground … men are that ground, our souls in us. This is not a new thing! What is new is that there is now a general sense of it, which acts to confound the confounders, and more and more of that light is indeed reaching the ground.

What is your point, Rags? That we shouldn’t publish such posts because you find them useless and uninformative? Or are you merely admiring your own image in the pools of bacteria on the floor?

“Finding hateful idiots on the interwebs is as easy as finding bacteria on your floor.”

Why yes, it is. You show us every day.

So you want to dictate what we post here at LI and what we don’t? That’s amazing. Do you go around playing content editor at all your favorite sites or are we just “lucky” in this regard? You do nothing but complain and whine and attack. Oh, and demand that the prof “defend” his positions to you. Who do you think you are? Really, I’m asking. You seem to be operating under a series of delusions, this idea that you have any influence over what we do or do not post is just the most recent.

We post a lot, so I’m sure there are some posts that are of no interest to some readers. Oddly, they don’t feel compelled to click on the post, read it, then post about how much they didn’t like the topic. I guess they read the titles and figure out that they don’t like it enough to read on and just move on to something they find more “useful and informative.” Like normal people.

You seem to have a lot of time on your hands, Rags. Why not spend some of that time figuring out why attacking people, including this site and its content, results in a counterattack? You seem to imagine that your hateful, unnecessary rudeness is somehow okay but any response to that hateful, unnecessary rudeness is “utter crap” directed at you “by hateful idiots.” You keep saying I’m crazy (or evil), but how sane do you imagine you appear when you keep being such a hateful boor and then shriek in befuddled horror when anyone hits back?

Why not try a fun exercise: You post comments on the posts, explaining your point of view, and then respond to thoughtful replies with well-considered arguments that don’t include name-calling, sophomoric name games, and / or accusations that any thought with you disagree must be a lie dreamed up by a hateful moron collectivist. Don’t respond to people who attack you, or if you wish to respond, take the higher ground and don’t sink to their level. This is called having manners and treating others as you would like to be treated. Try it for one month. You will be surprised at how your experience here changes. Well, in your case, it may take longer than a month, but it would be worth the effort, no?

DieJustAsHappy | April 8, 2018 at 10:40 am

The hateful responses to this matter are at once shocking and anger-provoking to me. However, this will pass, but they, they, who are the source of them will remain in their
acrimony and ignorance.

I Can’t believe two fires in a short time are my nefarious in nature.

Hate the phone changes words all the time even after review.
I said,I think the two fires so close may be nefarious in nature. These people are crazy and that is well documented.
Think about a city that experienced 9/11 and is cheering the burning of a sky scraper,

DieJustAsHappy | April 8, 2018 at 11:10 am

“Think about a city that experienced 9/11 and is cheering the burning of a sky scraper”

Some of them who are doing so might be also if the mindset that America, because of past wrongs, deserved 9/11. Wouldn’t surprise me in the least in this is the case.

Since the art dealer who died (may his family and friends remember him for the good) was in a terrible financial condition of recent according to the NY Post, bankruptcy, his location and he would have been a target for anyone wising to have a spy base in proximity to the POTUS both before and after the election and inauguration.

I have the sinking feeling that this is something like the public cheering of the Caning Incident before the Civil War. And at least in that case nobody died. Unlike here.

I get the feeling we really are moving towards bloodshed. civil strife. Because people are too hateful to see.

And before anybody accuses me of being a Trump Cultist, I would’ve had similar reactions to something happening to a property of Bush’s (who I liked and supported) or Obama (who I hate).

Well the lawsuit , which I am sure is forthcoming , there are lawsuits by a couple from the last fire, even though there was no loss of life, will pay for his financial problems I am sure

This just seems like a set up

I mean, how many fires at Trump Tower before he ran?

When I read the 1st accounts about this fire, my immediate thought was it’s probably #resistance arson – because the left always, eventually, resorts to violence, or threats of violence to advance its agenda.

Praise the NYFD, and condolences to the dead man’s family.

These people who are expressing glee at this fire (while, of course, attempting to cleanse the despicable nature of their comments by qualifying that they don’t wish any injured) are sociopaths and infantile zealots, so blinded by partisan fervor and hatred that they cheer on destruction and death.

These Leftists represent the absolute worst elements in American society.

The right gives them a run for their money.

Interesting that Trump brags about the construction of his building before praising the firemen.

Deplorable. Expendable. Commendable.

From the WP 08/02/2012:

After the president tweeted that first lady Michelle Obama’s birthday was coming up, Heidi Wys, proving that racism and witlessness go hand in hand, tweeted, “Take her to Burger King, buy her a sundae with double banana, take her to your homeland, Kenya!” You’ve got to give it to her. Within the 140-character limit, she gets in a simian reference and a bow to birther-ism.

Obama derangement syndrome preceded Trump Obama syndrome. Conservatives even took the knee-jerk away from liberals. Not only are your ideas third-rate, but they are unoriginal.

Wrong, as usual, ygic. The term “Bush Derangement Syndrome” was coined by the great Charles Krauthammer in the early 2000s. Want to take a guess as to which group he was referring?

It’s really hard to fail as a troll. They could at least be entertaining. But Yellow manages to be both ignorant and boring.

I’m writing a complaint to Soros. Get some quality control in Boiler Room #3 please!

The ice cream shops in Oak Bluff’s on Martha’s Vineyard can testify to the Obama’s love of ice-cream delights. And the Obama’s themselves — but the spouse and the man — have spoken again and agin of Kenya being Obama’s homeland. Which it is. For at the least he has so adopted it, per the forged fathership documentation of the divorce papers of ethics purported Kenyan father, Barack Obama Sr. the wastrel Afro-communist man of many wives and loves.

Where was the Dunham child actually birthed? Who knows! We can best say we do not know! Any claim to certainty is a mythic legend and a mass delusion entered into the madness of crowds future edition.

“Simian reference”?! Talk about supposed Republican “dog whistles” that are actually audible only to Democrats. Is any reference to bananas, in any context, now to be strictly forbidden?!
