New Miss USA Attacked for Expressing Conservative Views on Feminism, Health care

How dare she not think like the left!

Oh boy. Another controversy over conservative comments at Miss USA.

Remember in 2009 when Miss California Carrie Prejean said she believes that marriage is between a man and a woman? The left tore her apart over her answer.

Now they have a new target. Last night, Miss District of Columbia Kara McCullough, a scientist, told the audience and judges that she rejects modern day feminism and believes health care is a privilege, not a right.

From Newsbusters:

Julianne: District of Columbia, you’re up. Do you think affordable health care for all U.S. citizens is a right or a privilege and why?

Miss DC: I’m definitely going to say it’s a privilege. As a government employee, I am granted health care, and I see firsthand that for one to have health care, you need to have a job. Therefore, we need to continue to cultivate this environment that we’re given the opportunities to have health care as well as jobs to all the American citizens worldwide.

Terrence: What do you consider feminism to be, and do you consider yourself a feminist?

Julianne: Yes, you do. Absolutely you get a microphone. Here you go.

Miss DC: As a woman scientist in the government, I would like to lately transpose the word feminism to equalism. I don’t really want to consider myself — try not to consider myself like this die hard, you know, like, oh, I don’t really care about men, but one thing I want to say, though, women, we are just as equal as men when it comes to opportunity in the workplace.

And I say firsthand I have witnessed the impact that women have in leadership in the medical sciences as well as in the office environment, so as Miss USA, I would hope to promote that kind of leadership responsibility globally to so many women worldwide.

McCullough works as a scientist at the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission. She graduated from South Carolina State University where she majored in radiochemistry. A beautiful and intelligent African American female won Miss USA. You’d think the left would love the diversity, right?

Nope.

Well, she dare.

She’s a hero to most of America. She is Miss USA, not Miss Leftist, or Miss GOPe.

If everyone has a RIGHT to healthcare, how come so many people don’t have any healthcare?
Or they have bad healthcare. Or unaffordable healthcare.

Anything you cannot get for yourself is a privilege because it is by the goodness of others to work in the healthcare field where they are well paid for providing healthcare privilege to people, many of whom do not even deserve it or pay for it …. try a little gratitude for a change from the whining ….

so who pays for your perceived right to healthcare?

Tax payers and mostly conservatives as they are mostly who work outside government where wealth is created and not stolen.

“McCullough works as a scientist at the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission.”

You mean, she DID work as a scientist at the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission …

“McCullough works as a scientist at the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission.”

Which makes the nasty comment about her being one of those “dumb broads trying to sound smart” really hilarious.

She got a real degree, has a real job and has her own, real opinions. Isn’t that the American dream?

The American dream? Productivity, certainly. Perhaps not a taxable job. The classification once included occupations of the lowly mother and housewife that did not register at the IRS and did not compel the interest of well-meaning intervention.

And those same people dare to call *US* racist, sexist, and deplorable.

Leftists all sploadyhead. Again and still. Obviously, they’re hateful, racist misogynists.

But I must disagree with Miss USA. The question was a loaded Leftist propaganda talking point. Healthcare is neither a right or a privilege. It is a commodity to be purchased in an open market. Period. And obviously, everyone can afford healthcare because ‘free’ obamacare.

Reject the Leftist propaganda of ‘privilege.’ There’s no such thing. Reject the Leftist propaganda of goods or services as ‘rights.’ There’s no such thing.

A true right is endowed by our Creator; it is inalienable; and it doesn’t require the consent of another person.

Healthcare requires consent between the doctor and the patient. The patient exchanges $$$ with the doctor for his time and talent. If that consent is not given by the doctor, he is essentially an indentured servant or slave to the patient. And last I looked slavery is outlawed in this nation.

Leftist slpoadyhead clean-up in the tweeter sewer….

Well, this is refreshing. With institutional [class] diversity, I was concerned about the pageant’s selection. Miss USA seems to be American first.

Medical care would be a right, if our society adopted the moral axiom of intrinsic value. Unfortunately, with establishment of the Pro-Choice Church, it is bigotry (i.e. sanctimonious hypocrisy) with a side of ulterior motives as far as the eye can see.

Just to be clear, American in spirit and principled alignment (e.g. Declaration of Independence and Constitution) with neighbors. American in community and nationality as in graduated responsibility (“tend your garden”). This is not about [class] diversity, but rather reconciliation of rights and responsibilities of individuals with diverse egos, interests, and needs, living in a world with finitely available and accessible resources a la beachfront estate in Hawaii, paradise.

Amazing that a conservative won Miss DC.

As amazing as the fabled [American] conservative in DC. They have been observed, but they are few and far between. An endangered ideology or a suppressed perspective. This is the stuff legends are made of.

re: medical care as a right

In any case, there is an order of responsibility, beginning with the individual. And the issue with medical care is several fold: education, affordability, and availability. It does not begin and end with “insurance” for ordinary and elective procedures.

For the hell of it, I went and reviewed the Tweets of Thomas McDonald, above. He seems to have an issue with race and race privilege. That is why he assumed this girl unintelligent.

MIss DC seems like a cool girl. Her answers were brave, especially given that she’s a DC government worker. I also have a lot of respect for somebody who didn’t straighten her beautiful hair.

Having said all that, consider the following:

Seven of the contestants were distinctly African American. Of these seven, 4 of them made the top 10 and three of them made the top 5. My ‘disparate impact’ spicy senses are tingling. I strongly suspect that one or two of the judges were voting tribally/racially.

It is really nice to see a sane woman in the news for a change.

People always ignore one very important fact about healthcare, in America. No one is denied basic healthcare. Under various laws, hospitals are not allowed to turn away anyone requiring emergency care. They must treat them. And, those patients are required to pay for their treatment, just like anyone else.

What many people really want is not universal access to healthcare, but FREE healthcare. The ACA, and the AHCA, are totally unfair. Why should a person who makes less than a certain amount of money be granted free or subsidized health insurance, while the person who makes more than that amount of money be forced to pay full price for the same insurance? The American public is being told, not asked, to subsidized the unemployed, while being forced to pay for their own insurance. We even publicly subsidize sex change operations for convicted criminals. How insane is that?

Miss USA is obviously far more sophisticated in her understanding of human rights, than are her critics. None of the rights with which we are endowed by our Creator, as stated in our founding documents, are taken or extracted by force from another person. None of them require that another citizen give up any of his own essential rights, to provide that freedom to his fellows.

The assertion of a right to medical care implies the power to extract that service from another person, namely a “medical care provider” (those we used to call “physicians”), and implicitly without a duty to compensate. Such action is already prohibited by the United States Constitution, in Amendment Thirteen, forbidding imposition of involuntary servitude.

Physicians used to have rights too — but federal law already requires that they provide care without compensation. Few ethical physicians would refuse this anyway, believing that they serve a higher cause than government; it’s just the government compulsion that is uniquely invoked against physicians, that rankles.

I logged-in just so I could give you the “thumbs-up!” for expressing what I was thinking.

And, here’s something else that really gets my goat: why must my insurance payments compensate for unlimited birth control coverage while my tax dollars are routed to Planned Parenthood to subsidize abortion-on-demand? Obviously one should preclude the other yet my hard-earned money goes to both. Something’s not right.

She’s a Chemist, and she sounds exactly like one. They tend to be iconoclasts, with no real notion of how they have transgressed the social norms, or why those norms are important.

The Left, “Beauty queens are a product of a bygone era, who cares what their opinions are,” until…they out themselves as heretics to the Leftist orthodoxy.

I am proud to be white like her.

I’m almost embarrassed to be this white. Except for the nazism. Cool whip is embarrassed to be seen with me, that’s how white I am. Vanilla ice cream screams “Get this guy away from me he’s blinding me.” When police criminal profilers draw a picture of me, it’s a blank sheet of paper. That’s how white I am.

Another white guy who was whitey white like white like me.
