Designers Refuse to Dress Melania Trump
Get over yourself.
Designer Sophie Theallet has announced on Twitter she will not design and dress Melania Trump with her brand:
Theallet has designed and dressed First Lady Michelle Obama during the past eight years, which she called “a highlight and an honor.” Obama’s “values, actions, and grace have always resonated deeply within” the designer. She added:
As one who celebrates and strives for diversity, individual freedom, and respect for all lifestyles. I will not participate in dressing or associating in any way with the next First Lady. The rhetoric of racism, sexism, and xenophobia unleashed by her husband’s presidential campaign are incompatible with the shared values we live by.
I encourage my fellow designers to do the same.

But she may not be the last one to do this:
“This has already been going on for months. Designers wouldn’t lend to Melania, Ivanka or Tiffany, so they either bought the items themselves or wore Ivanka’s brand.” (That might explain Ivanka’s frequent brand promotion throughout the campaign, as well as Melania’s wardrobe, which seemed to come straight from the e-commerce pages of Net-a-Porter.) The source added, “There was a lot of shopping their own closets.”
Yet, designer Carolina Herrera believes the designers will cave a few months into Trump’s presidency:
And indeed, politics have also been on Herrera’s mind. She recently dressed Michelle Obama for the cover of American Vogue’s December issue. “Michelle has been impeccable as the first lady,” she says. As for Melania Trump, the designer reckons that her colleagues will soon cotton on to the idea of starting a sartorial conversation with the new first lady.
“I think that in two or three months they’ll reach out, because it’s fashion,” Herrera says. “You’ll see everyone dressing Melania. She’s representing the United States.”
To be sure, Herrera has plenty of history to draw upon to make that sort of educated guess. Much of her success lies in her ability to adapt to present industry demands without shifting her own point of view. “We have to be very conscious now, more than ever, in the fashion world,” she says. “Because it is very flimsy. Everything is changing.”

Am I supposed to be impressed?
Sophie who? Did anyone even ask her to?
My first thought… What a nothing burger. Like she needs any help!!
Melania could chose some nobody and within months that person would be a somebody.
Like the Trumps need these people!
And btw, I saw the way they dressed Hillary.
From the Captain Kangaroo Collection,

Melania could chose some nobody and within months that person would be a somebody.
Melania could chose some nobody and within HOURS that person would have fashion brands breaking down their door.
FIFY.
Yuck, that person radiates ugliness. Can we agree that we no longer have to look at it?
Ivanka could do it better anyway. Shameful and petty behavior from the “tolerance” crowd.
Melania will look good in anything she wears. As for Donald, he’s a guy. A suit is a suit is a suit. No problems. A golden opportunity for the next generation of designers.
I can see why the Obama’s would need someone to dress them, but I think that the Trump’s are smart enough to dress themselves.
The Donald and Family probably don’t buy off the shelf, and likely already have their own go-to people for bespoke duds.
She was unable to conceal that massive ass. Melania doesn’t need her help. She would look good in khaki slacks and a tee shirt.
especially a wet white one… 😎

If she could dress Michael to resemble a woman she might stand a chance to dress Hillary’s New Prison Garb
Attention whore. I have a funny feeling that Melania has plenty of designer clothes and designers who would be happy to work with her and none of them are named Sophie.
So…..they would refuse to sell her a dress because they don’t like her husband?
Sounds like a wonderful bias-discrimination lawsuit…………
(Besides the fact that they would LOVE that do-ray-me MONEY they’d make with her wearing their label – hypocrites! Fully dependent on capitalism to make their way in the world, yet despising themselves for it – proof that the left is ALL about ideology and progressive agenda FIRST, party FIRST, uber alles.)
Someone hasn’t been paying attention to the issue.
Michelle Obama didn’t need to buy any of those dresses. Designers, like the one quoted here, tripped over themselves to provide Michelle Obama with dresses, shoes, and accessories, for the First Lady to wear and display in front of the world, completely for free. The clothes are kept by the National Archives, which is how this arrangement doesn’t result in people being prosecuted and imprisoned for bribery.
If the clothing Mrs. Trump wears will be purchased with her own money there will be no need to donate it to the Nat Archives. Of course then the liberals will whine and complain about that.
Viciousness defined by our leftist half.
It is time for a divorce. These are not members of my tribe.
Aren’t these some of the same people who believe (as do I) that if you run a business, you must serve all who are able to pay for your services and products, whether you disagree with their politics, religion, or choice of spouse? Unfortunately, she appears to be based in NYC, but, for what it’s worth, she should be investigated for intolerance. Oh, wait, that’s not yet a crime!
If you can discriminate against someone based on their politics, can you discriminate against Muslims for supporting the creation of a caliphate or their preference for sharia law?
No, they believe you must serve everyone regardless of their race, sexual orientation, gender of the moment, residency status or number of facial piercings.
Politics is always fair game.
Andf then they will complain when Melania shows up wearing stuff from foreign designers who don’t give a damn about American politics.
Or younger ones, with interesting and attractive ideas.
It’s only one designer who has declined so far. And it looks like Melania has never asked this Sophile Theallat to dress her in the first place. She’s got plenty of designers helping her.. This will backlash on Theallat. Watch for designers to flock to Melania
yeah, because what self-respecting fashion designer would want a world famous model wearing their designs in high profile public events?
Upholstery Designer Sophie Theallet…
FTFY!
everything she made for Moo-chelle looked like something from a Tijuana furniture store.
Who doesn’t remember the “Orange Snake”?
I went and looked at Sophie Theallet’s “clothes” when I heard this earlier today. Two things –
Most of her stuff in lingerie and at that it is mostly for plus sized women, something that Melania clearly is not.
The stuff that isn’t lingerie is pretty classless – cut to the crotch or down to the navel. Melania has too much class to wear that sort of thing.
In a world where cake-makers are forced to bake cakes for gay weddings under threat of law, should liberal designers be forced to design for conservative women? If I were Melania, I would haul this one to court for discrimination.
Wait, the “designer” who tore the upholstery off her grandma’s sofa, crammed MO into it, added a boob belt, and jammed MO’s enormous feet into kitten heels won’t dress gorgeous, elegant Melania? Excellent! Why would she want to wear hideous, usually occasion-inappropriate clothing that is two sizes too small?
“…jammed MO’s enormous feet into kitten heels.”
Woe! Those magical shoes should be in the Smithsonian next to Dorothy’s ruby slippers!
Sophie Theallet is a perfect fit for my image of a leftist/Democrat — Emotional and intellectual development arrested at age 14.
I guess this kind of threat worked in junior high so it should work now, shouldn’t it?
Who the F**k cares?
I think some people on the Left think they are more important than they truly are. After all…they do have all those participation ribbons…
So far, a stampede of one. Yeah, that’ll bring the new administration to its knees.
Somehow, I can’t really picture any effective sartorial blockades in the futures of any of the Trump women.
As long as I don’t have to see four years of headlines over Hillary’s ghastly orange Mao suits, I’m fine …
I’m willing to bet that Melania, and the rest of the Trump family women already have their own designers that they favor.
Probably get better dresses at half the price, anyway.
So, this “designer” says she “strives for diversity, individual freedom, and respect for all lifestyles” and backs it up by discriminating against a legal immigrant?
Hypocritical much?
“I won’t dress Melana Trump.”
Translation: “PLEASES – somebody pay attention to me!!”
One of the advantages Melania has besides being very intelligent is she is beautiful and does not need “designer” clothes like the sowcow Michelle.
I agree that Melania would look good in a flour sack.
If I were a fashion designer, I’d be willing to pay her to wear my rags.
That would be a much better strategy.
All the “designers” do is detract from her natural poise and beauty.
http://www.cbsnews.com/pictures/michelle-obama-fashion this tells it all
For her ability on concealing, Michael’s anatomy (well most of the time) gives her high ratings to design Hillary Clintons Prison Garb
