Obama should have taught history. There has been no one more capable of compelling the recall of a full history.

This one states the case against Obama quite well:

Rutherford must be texting in his grave.

Professor, great listening to you on the radio … well, just like Rutherford, I hardly use a radio, I actually listened on this Internet Machine Al Gore invented.

You should have your own show, Professor!

Rutherford might have hated technology with every fiber of his being … but God bless him for reminding us that the power of mocking fools is one of the strongest forces of persuasion on the planet.

Where’s the link to the radio show, Luke?
    I missed it.
    Dang.

It was in the upper right corner of the web page under “Announcements” in blaring orange.

It froze on me at first so I missed the first minute or two.

The Professor is excellent on the air … very calm, but keeps the pace lively … doesn’t shout too much.

I need to get him on the Northern Alliance with Ed Morissey and Mitch Berg.
        You up for it, Professor?
I’ll set it up for ya, dude.

Rutherford is a Star. I have been on the lookout for more info about him & now hopefully it will all just turn up on the internet.

Now if only Obama could say something stupid mean & nasty about Jubal Early-my all time fave American.

These are terrific.

I too heard you tonite on the Boston talker professor, good explanation of the Limbaugh astroturf.

Let’s hope the mandate gets torpedoed by the Supremes.

Professor, I would get the LI marketing department working on some Rutherford B. Hayes t-shirts for sale as soon as possible.

As Mrs. Hayes always said, “Rutherford, orange and black really do suit you.”

The most ironic thing about this is that Obama’s main constituency and funding arm.. Unions are anything but believers in advanced technology.

I remember in 2006 that the US postal workers union went on strike in protest of new mail processing technology because it would cost jobs… now they’re closing post offices.

And tomorrow the Detroit Hamtramck Chevy Volt plant goes on layoff because of Obama massive WTF taxpayer investment scheme failures.

This is fun! I’ll give it a go …

“He serves his party best who serves the country best.” — Rutherford B. Hayes

Hayes was born 11 weeks after his father died. He was home schooled. He was a serious student who kept a journal his entire life. During his lifetime, he had a reputation for honesty and benevolence. He commenced college at age 16 and graduated as valedictorian at age 20. He went to Harvard Law. He joined the temperance movement. He married at age 30 and had eight children. He left his law practice to fight in the Civil War. He was a founding member of the new Republican Party. He was elected to his first office while he was still in the Army. As a politician he was known for his stands against political corruption, against carpet bagging, against cronyism, against corruption in the NY customs house, against the Tweed machine, against inflationary government practices, and in favor better labor standards (appropriate in that pre-union day) and for the gold standard.

Hayes was a reformer who was not thought of as a serious contender in 1876, although a popular Governor of Ohio. James Blaine was the frontrunner, but was tainted by allegations of payoffs from railroad interests but not proven. A former clerk claimed to have proof of the payoff in the form of letters, but after meeting with Blaine privately he gave them to him. Blaine refused to provide them to investigators.

When Blaine failed to gain a majority, the convention went to multiple ballots, with him gaining every time, but not to a majority. The anti-Blaine delegates settled on Hayes, and were able to nominate him.

Hayes then won the most controversial election in US history. EC votes in four states were in dispute. In the South, Democrats had engaged in voter fraud and intimidation of black voters (some things never change) to try to steal the election. Had any of the disputed EC votes gone to Tilden (the Democrat), he would have won, as he did the popular majority by the narrowest of margins.

A balanced Election Commission was appointed to resolve the issue, and awarded all 20 disputed votes to Hayes, making him the winner. As a conciliatory gesture, he promised not to seek a second term, and didn’t. His focus was on reforming the spoils system of patronage in which federal offices were virtually sold to the highest bidder.

As with every other previous President, he was head and shoulders better than Obama.

For the first time in my adult life, I am proud to be a graduate of Kenyon College (Hayes, class of 1842).

Heh…..so this is what you folks get up to when left unsupervised…LOLPREZ! Funny!

Hey, how did Rutheford ever get elected?
He’s fatter and uglier than Newt!

President Hayes was wounded during the Civil War at least 4 times. The only injury the current resident of the White House can boast of is an elbow to the mouth playing basketball.
This fake issue has given me a reason to brush up on Mr. Hayes and his history. It’s been many a moon since I studied him…7th grade Ohio History. His parents are buried very near to my maternal grandparents, and sadly, a gas station is on the site of his childhood home.

Funny and who cares? The only injury the last president (named Bush…even though he is mentioned so rarely that conservatives seem to be hoping we will forget he ever existed) can boast of is falling off his mountain bike.

Unless there is some kind of ‘sports’ injury from back in his manly career as a…cheerleader…that we don’t know about.
