FBI reopens Hillary case reportedly after finding emails on device discovered during Weiner sexting investigation
By now you know about the bombshell that the FBI has reopened its investigation of Hillary Clinton’s emails.
But wait, there’s a connection to Anthony Weiner. The New York Times reports that new emails were discovered curing the FBI’s investigation of Weiner’s sexting scandal (the latest one, not the original). Assuming the Times report is accurate, it’s important to point out that the report is not that the emails in question were to or from Weiner, but were on a device examined for the first time during the course of that investigation.
The Times states:
Emails from Hillary Clinton’s private server were found after the F.B.I. seized electronic devices once shared by Anthony D. Weiner and his estranged wife, Huma Abedin, a top aide to Mrs. Clinton, federal law enforcement officials said Friday.
Who could have predicted this twist?

I believe Mr. Trump came close to such a prediction regarding Carlos Danger, Huma and the email server several months ago.

And any “investigation” will be completed whenever it’s politically convenient to complete it.

I’ve read such a thought elsewhere, but don’t believe it holds water. There’s not enough time before the election to undo the damage done to Hillary by this announcement. Even if by the middle of next week Comey announces that there was nothing new in the emails and the investigation is being shut down again, Hillary may benefit from such an announcement, but not enough to offset the damage already done – it will be a net loss for her. There is not enough time before the election for her campaign to “put it behind” and out of her erstwhile supporters’ minds.
If the long-term plan is to restore Hillary with another announcement before the election, why damage her prospects in the first place? It doesn’t make sense. The announcement may have been made on a Friday to minimize the damage, but a plan to restore her image is not a very good plan. Why not just remain silent? If Comey felt compelled to make the announcement, yet was so worried about the damage to Hillary that he’d plan to try to undo it before the election, why not just wait until after the election? It’s only a few days away. He could always plead,”I withheld the information until after the election because I didn’t want to influence the election.”
My family gets by on a lot less money then Huma and Anthony. My wife and I, and each kid (down to one under 18) all have their OWN computer. And it’s been that way for years. So yes, this is a surprise to me that this is the way they’d find them.
Come on! Nothing will happen, It could take 11 days for the FBI to get an outside line. Election will be over, campaign for second term underway. Hummua Wiener will be living in the White House.
I had local CBS news on for about an hour: no mention of it. At all.
Now I changed to ABC news: No mention of it. At all.
All they can talk about is an airplane that caught fire in Chicago, another in Fort Lauderdale.
What a freaking coincidence. It’s like Hitlary is in a rampage setting airplanes on fire. Anything to keep her out of the news.

Wonder why they waited until Friday (Fri dump)? Where will it be come Monday?
Three differing motivations might be in play. 1) Comey won’t stay bought; 2) Comey wants to use the investigation to block the new information from public view; or 3) The new information exposes something that risks the Comey’s management of the investigation.
4) Comey wants the people to decide what it means before the election rather than leaving it to a judge or jury down the road. I think that’s why he didn’t recommend indictment in July – too close to election. So, he gives a scathing press conference outlining all the damning evidence against her so American voters could decide to indict and convict her by refusing to vote for her. Now he appears to have yet more damning evidence and will again put it before the American people to do with as they please.

It was based on the idea that emails have a sending point and a delivery point(s), and that, while Hillary can delete copies of emails she has on her server, copies of emails she’s sent are all over servers all over the internet. Some were bound to surface. Well, here you go!

OK lawyers. Say she wins the election and is President Elect. Then devastating information that can not be ignored comes out and the FBI charges her.
What happens then? She is not sworn in yet but is elected. What happens?
The FBI has no power to “charge”. They investigate and turn over their results and (perhaps) a recommendation to the AG.

Yes, a pardon is almost a certainty at some point in this charade.
Just want to mention this point. Pardons, even presidential ones, DO NOT COVER impeachments and impeachment trials. Impeachment and subsequent trial is a political action, not a criminal trial.
A pardon would only protect her from a judicial proceeding. She could still be impeached by a special session of the House before she gets into office. The Senate might get the impeachment after she’s sworn in, but Hillary’s presidency could be severely damaged before she even takes the oath of office.
It is impossible to state exactly what is going on here. However, for Comey to release the fact that additional evidence has come to light which is resulting in the original investigation being reopened, this close to the election, is pretty startling. What the end game is here, is not even remotely clear. But, do not lose sight of the possibility that it is not the most obvious one.
The FBI doesn’t indict, but Lynch is on record saying she will follow their recommendation.
That’s a very interesting point. What would she do if Comey recommends prosecution this time, say, “I only meant it for the first part of the investigation”? Lynch will be in a very difficult position.
It would take at least a gallon of Hillary’s favorite French parfum (“Scents of Huma”) to cover the stench of corruption.
