The controversy over requiring voters to provide photo IDs has reached the world stage.
The United Nations Human Rights Council is investigating the issue of American election laws at its gathering on minority rights in Geneva, Switzerland.. This, despite the fact that some members of the council have only in the past several years allowed women to vote, and one member, Saudi Arabia, still bars women from the voting booth completely.
Officials from the NAACP are presenting their case against U.S. voter ID laws, arguing to the international diplomats that the requirements disenfranchise voters and suppress the minority vote.
John Hinderaker says “This is really the last straw. It is time to get out of the United Nations.” Been there, done that.
That won’t solve the problem, there are other places the NAACP can go to to defend the right to voter fraud:

Photo ID laws require voters to present a government-approved photo ID before they may cast their ballots in Belgium, Spain, Greece, Italy, Malta, and at least eight US states.

Where is the UN on that?
The argument by the Left (which is entirely BS) is that those countries don’t have the disparate populations that the United States has, and thus don’t suffer from the same “voter suppression” tactics that are present in the us. Further, as “progressive” countries, they are moving toward voter inclusion, not our backward “individual rights at the expense of the whole” mentality.
It’s almost entirely a lie. Yes, there are some racial populations which are less likely to get a government issued photo ID than others. But as SCOTUS has said, that burden is negligibly small and can be mitigated through initiatives OTHER than striking down voter ID laws.
Separating those individuals who don’t get an ID from those who CAN’T get an ID is going to be critical for the next few elections until the “undocumented resident” movement can be crushed for the damage it does to the fabric of our nation.

My 80 year old mother must provide photo ID every time I take her to the doctor – services provided by Medicare. Are you saying Christian Scientists don’t go to the doctor, therefore, are less likely to have voter ID.
My doctors require photo ID. You can’t buy beer, alcohol, sudafed, certain cough syrups without photo ID. Admission to an R rated movie requires a photo ID if you appear to be under the age of 18.
Do all other Medicare service recipients NOT have to provide photo ID?
It is crystal clear that NOT requiring photo ID to voter merely infringes upon the decades-old Democrat voting fraud scam.
Heck, when James O’Keefe of Project Veritas applied for a marriage license with his “partner”, they were denied a license for the lack of a photo ID.
Hellfire, in Illinois a person needs a drivers license to buy Draino. So under-represented and oppressed groups now can’t clean their sewer lines. That’s just raw. That stinks.
As I was driving yesterday, I was listening to Michael Medved.
He had a caller who recently moved to the liberal hamlet of Kent, Ohio, home to Kent State University.
He said the local public library there is named the “Kent Free Library.”
He said since he had just gotten married and moved there, he didn’t have an Ohio driver’s license yet. So, the “free” library refused to let him check out a book. They required him to come back with a valid Ohio driver’s license or two utility bills in his name showing he was a local resident !!!!
Take that to the UN, baby!! A “free” public library needs ID out the wazoo so you can check out “1984” but voting? Ehh … who needs ID for that??

You need a picture ID to get into any Federal courthouse of which I know, too.
This is a non-problem, that…IF it were a problem…could be fixed by a few people being good neighbors. Or the NAACP doing something besides just race-baiting.

I’ve thought about the UN a lot lately for various reasons, and I’ve come to the conclusion that they are cultural relativists (not to be confused with moral relativism) who don’t really realize the implications of being a cultural relativist. Ergo, they end up being pretty contradictory. Couple that with the postiting of some universal rights (which is incompatable with cultural relativism, but let’s not let some philsophy get in our way here!) and you have a recipe for disaster.
Actually it requires some pretty heavy cognitive dissonance to hold that belief system together. The simple logical conclusion to the this level of internal conflict is that “the US should be held to a higher standard than [other country] since their ideals posit specifically egalitarianism and voter access.” This may be a valid conclusion for a cultural relativist actually. The problem is the second part “And we have to hold them to that ideal.” That comes from the second part (about universal morality and all that). There are about 1000 reasons this is wrong, I’ll just list a few: As a cultural relativist you can’t judge a groups morality from the outside, there can be no ideals for which to hold them too outside of their own culture, there should be no comparision between cultures (or it’s not relativistic), there is more than 1 aspect to consider in virtue theory….
So yeah, that.
How can the UN Human Rights Council possibly have time for this nonsense when it is busy with the exacting job of looking into all of Israel’s human rights abuses?
Isn’t finding fault with Israel its entire mission statement?

Pennsylvania just passed and the Governor signed a Voter ID law yesterday. Yay! For the first time, Phildelphia will not be able to disenfranchise MY vote by bringing back the dead to vote democrat.
I’m from PA and was very glad to read that in my newspaper today.
Voter ID is good. I also like the idea of simply dumping the registration database every 4 years and requiring everyone to re-register using a photo ID.
The UN is a joke … but the Obama administration is part of the tragicomedy. Our secretary of defense suggested to Congress that Obama would seek permission from the UN, then inform Congress where troops were being deployed. (at the 1:45 mark of this video)

Because it prevents war through use of diplomatic channels, except when it doesn’t (which is pretty much always.) The UN is one of those “Good On Paper, bad in practice” things it’s too diffuse to actually back up it’s diplomatic approaches and too spineless to use force (NATO style).
If you need an drivers-license to get into a Federal courthouse, isn’t that discrimination against minority hiring at the Federal level? I mean, if you have to have a drivers-license to get into the courthouse, you can’t very well work there, can you?
I think we should stay in the UN – things would be a lot worse WITHOUT our veto. Doesn’t mean we have to throw tons of money at them, though. We can do more on the side – look at how popular Bush is in Africa, for what he did on AIDS. The UN didn’t do it.
Also – if we created some battalions of auxiliary peace-enforcer troops from 3rd world volunteers (with say Marine sergeants/officers), we could do a lot better than the Blue Helmets – both on cost, and also on the reduction of rapes and murders committed by the. Pay the 3rd-world volunteers a tenth of what the US troops make, allow them to bring their families with them, and they’d still be happy for the training (which would get them jobs anywhere in the world), pay and safety – there are a lot of minorities out there looking for someplace – anyplace – that’s safe to live. Note: they’d not be getting US citizenship, but they’d be issued new IDs with new names, so that their old govts (which might be looking for them) wouldn’t know where to find them. Or wouldn’t be able to take revenge on their extended families.
Methinks that we should prioritize the eviction of the Chicago mob that is running things in DC, the eviction of the UN from our shores and a return to the utilization of common sense which is all but absent as evidenced by the actions of our leadership and the ending of uncontrolled spending by the former as stated above.
With this in mind, the current war against Texas needs to be met head on and is to some extent, the defunding and rejection of federal funds regarding planned parenthood, A strong voter ID law which is being fought by Attorney General Greg Abbott.
What we all can do is evict the current regime in DC in November…

It’s ironic that the human and civil rights businesses have become active actors in undermining human and civil rights, respectively. I suppose there exists extraordinary precedent that predicted power corrupts. Although, I would question the causal relationship, and wonder if it is the corrupt who seek power. Either way, it’s not universal and not a given, it is a predisposition, and businesses such as the NAACP, and certainly the UN, demonstrate no one is invulnerable to corruptive forces.
Our government, at all levels, currently spends in great excess of $1 trillion annually to fund welfare programs. The only reason to not enforce voting integrity is to preserve the capability to sabotage or purchase elections.
If anyone wonders how the most powerful nation on Earth will be brought to its knees, it will be through progressive corruption. The same way that many other powerful nations eventually met their end. People dreamed of instant gratification and in their decadence betrayed themselves.
The only reason the UN is meddling in internal USA business is because it was INVITED to do so by the NAACP!

º Visit a hospital for medical treatment
º Renew my driver’s license
º Apply for a marriage license
º Board a flight
º Purchase a handgun
But, somehow it is racist to request a photo ID when I go to vote.
