Gowdy: Hillary Used a Special Tool to Wipe Home-brewed Server
Calls Hillary a, “habitual, serial liar”
As the ongoing saga of Hillary’s email scandal trudges along, Trey Gowdy, House Oversight Committee member, claims Hillary used a special tool to wipe clean her home-brewed email server.
No, it wasn’t a very special cloth. (I know, I figured that’s what she used, too).
According to Gowdy, Hillary used BleachBit, a program that deep cleans files, cookies, and servers. From the BleachBit website:
BleachBit quickly frees disk space and tirelessly guards your privacy. Free cache, delete cookies, clear Internet history, shred temporary files, delete logs, and discard junk you didn’t know was there. Designed for Linux and Windows systems, it wipes clean a thousand applications including Firefox, Internet Explorer, Adobe Flash, Google Chrome, Opera, Safari, and more. Beyond simply deleting files, BleachBit includes advanced features such as shredding files to prevent recovery, wiping free disk space to hide traces of files deleted by other applications, and vacuuming Firefox to make it faster. Better than free, BleachBit is open source.
In an interview with Fox New Thursday morning, Gowdy said, “If she considered them to be personal, then she and her lawyers had those emails deleted. They didn’t just push the delete button, they had them deleted so even God couldn’t read them. They were using something called BleachBit. You don’t use BleachBit for yoga emails or bridemaids emails. When you’re using BleachBit, it is something you really do not want the world to see.”
“That’s the interesting thing about credibility and believability, you can’t just keep it in one compartment,” said Gowdy discussing Clinton’s email press conference. “When you are a habitual, serial liar, in this facet of life, it tends to make people not believe you in other facets of life.”
With the Clinton Foundation receiving renewed attention thanks to an Associated Press report, one very crucial question remains unanswered: in Hillary’s email delete-fest, did she consider Foundation emails to be person in nature? After all, she claims that half of all emails sent during her tenure as Secretary of State were personal.

Because the server was in a bathroom, was the special tool Charmin?
Sani-Flush.
Nope, had to be Charmin because it is such squeezable software. 🙄
I would assume several foreign governments have copies of everything and are just trying to decide when the disclosure would benefit them the most. Pre-election and Obama will just give her a pardon. After election blackmale sounds like it could do a lot of damage too.
Decisions, decisions, decisions…..
it was an exchange server.
you cannot wipe just one email. it is not a flat file email system.
you wipe the edb (exchange database) file that contained the email. this also deletes every email associated with that edb.
Correct. Which begs the question, what non-email files would the BleachBit have been used to delete?
few scenarios.
one is the transaction log file folder free space was overwritten after every exchange backup depending on circular logging setup.
another, my contention, is each of her subsequently numbered email addresses used its own exchange database.
as it became tome to hide stuff she deleted unwanted crap emails, exported rest to pst file.
that pst file copied to portable drive.
new email address on its new edb in play and pst imported when needed adding those items to the ost file on client computers and making them visible in exchange web access and mobile devices.
this is not at all hard nor time consuming to do really.
don’t ask me how/why I know.
then org edb file shredded/overwritten.
I suspect theres a portable hard drive around somewhere (other than the one we know of) with TON of info on it being held by a third party.
fwiw been running exchange here since 2004, started exchange 2003, then 2010, then SBS2011 with exchange 2010 built in, now exchange 2013.
Your technical knowledge seems accurate. I use similar techniques and I don’t have anything illegal or compromising to hide. Using a shredder is just good data hygiene
You scenarios and speculations are just that – they have no value without proof. I find myself speculating on why Trump will not release his Tax Returns. I can think of many nasty and compromising scenarios. But it is just speculation. I don’t actually know anything. Neither do you.
It also seems that the only documented breach of the server was when the FBI took physical possession. It also seems that there were no e-mails that were classified at the time they were sent. I could be wrong on that as friend of mine said that some were marked with ‘C’. Clinton had a separate government system isolated from the internet for classified messages.
Since this story has been dripping out and is clearly propelled by partisan forces who hate her, I haven’t followed every twist and turn. I am quite ready to be educated on anything compromising beyond the fact that people made contributions and asked for favors that they didn’t receive. I am aware that few people got meetings that they probably would have gotten anyway. So far I have not heard of even an intern being hired because of a contribution.
But I would like to educated on this. That would mean facts. Flaming would be a waste of energy. Being called a name by a partisan fool doesn’t bother me the least.
” It also seems that there were no e-mails that were classified at the time they were sent.”
So, Comey was lying when he said there were?
You don’t want to be educated. Like all good commie foot soldiers you simply obfuscate.
I said I wanted to educated. I will lookup what Comey reported.
But you got it wrong. I am not just a commie. I am the head commie from the planet Pluto. I was sent here to report on a little website populated by completely insignificant people who are mostly obsessive and delusional.
No, you’re just a normal run of the mill low level commie, nothing more.
It’s not possible that you missed what Comey had to say.
@Barry Nobody will ever mistake you for someone who can be original or think. You are a parrot.
I could be a commie, but I am from Pluto.
No one will mistake you for anything but what you are, a simple low life commie.
Who is either lying about or a shut in, not knowing what has been played over and over on the news, written about over and over on blogs and internet news sites, that Comey made it clear shrillary sent and received classified email so marked. I’m going with the former.
A sec of state deals in classified material. Only a commie for Hillary could believe that a SOS never dealt in classified email, and since she only used her own server, by default, she sent/received classified email on her unsecure server.
Of course, you know it. Everyone knows this. She is a criminal that has sold out her country. Only the commies don’t care.
@Barry “A sec of state deals in classified material.” and for that she had a separate system for handling them. That doesn’t count messages retroactively classified.
We heard about people like you when I was home on Pluto. You’re one of those hateful bigoted idiots – aren’t you? You just feel this blinding hatred. It must eat at your very core as you lose. Well at least you picked the right leader.
“Only the commies don’t care” I am sure commies care. They care about destroying the country – so I am told. They do it from within. They have been doing it for 75 years. If you are losing, you must be very incompetent.
But I have 1 question for you. I didn’t get a visa when I flew in over the wall from Pluto. What is Der Donalds’s latest position on immigration? Is he going to round me up and deport me or has he changed his position in order to get the votes of normal people? I hear there aren’t enough hateful idiots for him to get elected. The people of Pluto need to know. The polls are skewed and the media are biased. Is Trump really going to win because of BS like yours? They don’t think so. But if he is going to, even Pluto won’t be safe.
“Your technical knowledge seems accurate. I use similar techniques and I don’t have anything illegal or compromising to hide. Using a shredder is just good data hygiene”
Agreed, indeed. You never want to leave more data than you’ve comfortable with in existence.
The problem is that while you don’t have anything illegal or compromising to hide, a Secretary of State using something like that on work related e-mails is illegal in and of itself.
And she almost certainly had something to hide. The question is just what it is.
“You scenarios and speculations are just that – they have no value without proof. ”
Agreed, but here’s the thing:
We already have a fair bit of proof, including the fact that the mere existence of this server is a violation of the law.
And secondly: while we can focus on any given scenario or speculation, it’s also worth looking at what it is Possible to speculate, what scenarios are possible given what we know.
What scenarios are there where this behavior of Hillary’s is legal, leta lone justified?
“I find myself speculating on why Trump will not release his Tax Returns. I can think of many nasty and compromising scenarios. But it is just speculation. I don’t actually know anything. Neither do you.”
Firstly, that is not true. We do know a few things, starting with the Trump College boondoggle, which should cast doubt on him.
Secondly: we’re not talking about similar situations. For one, the vast difference in damages. Trump is a businessman, and a highly influential one. Wrongdoing on his part could cost millions if not billions of dollars and screw over thousands of people. Arguably it already has.
But Hillary Clinton was acting as Secretary of State for the US, one of the most important positions in the world with responsibility that includes dealing with virtually everything that happens on the international stage. Even understandable mistakes can cost thousands of lives and trillions of dollars, let alone anything worse.
Secondly: in terms of legal transparency. Trump is allowed to avoid releasing his tax returns under the law. It might not be right for him to do so but it is legal. Hillary Clinton on the other hand was not and is not legally allowed to do things like destroy work related emails, host a private server, or the like.
And thirdly, the scenarios that are possible. Yes, you are right that one can easily imagine a lot of pretty damning reasons for Donald Trump not releasing his tax returns. However, we can also easily imagine a lot of less damning ones.
We cannot say the same for Hillary Clinton, given what we know of the law her own admissions.
“It also seems that the only documented breach of the server was when the FBI took physical possession.”
The server itself was a catastrophic breach, and we have testimony from Guccifer the Romanian hacker that he did.
“It also seems that there were no e-mails that were classified at the time they were sent. I could be wrong on that as friend of mine said that some were marked with ‘C’”
This has always been and will always be a misdirection. Much of the material we know was on the email was classified and often born classified. So removing the physical notification of it does not make it not classified or not damning, it just indicates another criminal act- and one caused with premeditation- to remove it.
“Clinton had a separate government system isolated from the internet for classified messages.”
If only she used it more frequently.
“Since this story has been dripping out and is clearly propelled by partisan forces who hate her, I haven’t followed every twist and turn. ”
Firstly: then whose fault is that?
And secondly: this was not only propelled by “partisan forces who hate her” unless you include the FBI in that list.

“I am quite ready to be educated on anything compromising beyond the fact that people made contributions and asked for favors that they didn’t receive.”
To be honest, the favor trading and pay to play- which would be horrible enough- are side concerns for me with this turd bucket. Because they pale in comparison to one of the most comprehensive intelligence breaches in world history, certainly larger than Operation Snow White.
Bill Whittle does a decent job scratching the surface of the laws that we have vocal confirmation were breached.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6xNLLcS2Yx8
And sure, you can easily dismiss him as a partisan source, because he is. Fine. But even if he isn’t relevant, how do you explain the laws he cites, and the way Comey confirmed they were broken?
After all, partisan does not necessarily mean wrong. I will be the first to admit that.
“But I would like to educated on this. That would mean facts. Flaming would be a waste of energy. Being called a name by a partisan fool doesn’t bother me the least.”
Fair enough.
If you are truly serious about this, do you have Steam, or another way I can contact you?
Because I have a friend/contact who at least Claims to be ex-Air Force Intelligence who I could get in contact with you. Disclaimer: he might count as a “highly partisan source”, though part of this is because of his outrage over this issue, which he knows a fair bit about.
But I would like to educated on this. That would mean facts. Flaming would be a waste of energy. Being called a name by a partisan fool doesn’t bother me the least.
@Turtler I read both of your comments delivered today. Unfortunately, it is the work week and you are very thorough. I would not wish to respond to a small section; as you once thought I did. I am undecided about giving you a direct email, because I cannot think of a way to do it without a bunch of flaming idiots also getting it. But I will try to respond later in the day or this evening.
I, too am enjoying this – for the 1st time since I came here and would like to find a way to extend this indefinitely.
One other thing you should know is that my ideas come out quicker than I can type them. In my professional and personal correspondence, I need to go through multi-drafts. I can’t do that here. It is just too time consuming.
Stupid.
BleachBit is intended for “advertising tracking” removal.
It got its start by killing Adobe’s “flash super cookies”.
NTFS is a logging filesystem. Unless you destroy the built-into-the-filesystem journal, it is still there. ( Formatting the drive does NOT work. )
Unless you have your system setup as a Hardware RAID or SYNC / No-Async drive, Windows keeps a copy in the drive cache and/or swap file.
The only real way to destroy the files completely on a logging filesystem ….
… use a BIG hammer ( i.e. beat the drive into tiny pieces. )
… a strong EMP pulse also works. ( beware collateral damage. )
A lot of discussion about secure delete has gone on in the Linux communities. Unless you build the system specifically for that purpose … forget it, it won’t work. ( Expensive, tedious and limited capabilities. )
I always like to start with …
#rm -R /*
myself.
: )
That does kill a Unix/Linux Box … but forensic tools can restore the files. ( They are marked deleted, not overwritten. )
The important thing is you got the sysadmin joke. 😉
More importantly, BleachBit is for *functioning* servers. Once a server is taken offline for disposal, it is wiped by a tool like DBAN, which does three or more passes over each drive, writing random numbers to every sector.
If you can get files off a server that has been DBANed, you can walk on water and raise the dead.
Darik’s boot and nuke http://www.dban.org/
I am required to wipe drives before I surplus equipment at work. I have an old machine with IDE, SATA and SCSI controllers that I can hook drives on, so I don’t have to worry to much about RAID and such. 8 rounds, prng stream and let it go overnight will keep most non-state actors out. State actors will probably curse at me, but that’s not my problem.
Looks like SSDs will be getting the sledgehammer treatment.
Frankly, this is the first thing that they ever did with this server that sounds like somebody knew what they were doing.
Obviously, no “intent”….
There is nothing obvious about this unless you want it to be.
But, as I have commented elsewhere, Trump is obviously not releasing his tax returns because he has something to hide. Being audited doesn’t preclude anyone from releasing his tax returns. So that is a transparent lie, obvious and undeniable lie. There is no law that he has to release them, but his reason is a lie.
and HRC isn’t releasing her Goldman/corporate crony pander speeches because she doesn’t want you to know what she said. and BO isn’t releasing his college/passport records because he doesn’t want you to know what’s there either. what’s good for the goose is good for the gander.
I agree, except Trump is the looser.
This doesn’t have much to do with the problem.
She gave State printouts of the e-mails she wanted them to have, and said she’d gotten rid of the other ones in some unspecified way, since the tens of thousands of them were “personal”.
Nevertheless, e-mails aside from the ones she gave State keep turning up, some with classified and very un-personal material in them.
If she had successfully destroyed everything she claims was “personal” (by any means—software shredders, multiple low-level formats, tossing the poor hard drive into a kiln or a reservoir), where are these other e-mails coming from? Nobody’s saying.
There are a number of possibilities, but they’re speculation, not fact.
The State Department has admitted that there are Benghazi emails in the 14900 emails found by the FBI.
Wiping an exchange server does not erase synched copies of the email. It does not erase copies on machines and servers from which or to which the items were sent. It does not erase logs and files on intermediate servers. It does not erase files obtained by hackers made before the erasure.
Yes. But Lois Lerner sold the story of “I can’t give you those e-mails because I had a hard-drive crash on my office PC.”
as best I could tell from forced bounceback headers I created this was single server EX2010 deployment. there may have been a DAG in play though but, as far as I could tell, no CAS servers.
Maybe Anthony Weiner had an account on the server.
Ted Kennedy used to have affairs with servers (see waitress sandwich).
If I worked in their marketing department, I’d tag every ad with a voiceover of Hillary saying, “I’m Hillary Clinton and I approve of this message.” And I’d change the company slogan to “30,000 e-mails can’t be wrong.”
I know why P-rags hates Rick Perry. I have Perry’s endorsement of Donald Trump, it’s unequivocal.
P-rags is terrified Perry will run against Cruz & win.
If Trump wins, I suspect Perry will run to replace Cruz & win in a walk.
The thread is: Gowdy: Hillary Used a Special Tool to Wipe Home-brewed Server
And you are babbling about Rick Perry?
A little baiting going on here! #Bigfail
Wow, in one short post you manage to be grossly misogynistic, claim knowledge of someone’s thought process that you can’t possibly know, and then claim personal ownership of a presidential endorsement. Do you realize how mentally unstable you sound? Besides, I thought you promised to go away. Please do.
Exercise just a bit of sportsmanship here. No attacks before everybody has had a chance to finish their breakfast!
one very crucial question remains unanswered: in Hillary’s email delete-fest, did she consider Foundation emails to be personal in nature?
________________________
She considered all incriminating e-mails to be “personal.”
So that would be all e-mails that showed her selling her influence in exchange for “donations” to Bill Clinton and/or the Clinton Foundation, as well as e-mails that showed her incompetence as SOS (hence the destruction of the Benghazi e-mails) and her dishonesty to the American public.
For anyone in the world who believes hilldog isn’t a serial liar at this point is definitely a brain dead plutonian.
Inhale…..exhale.
He’s so brain dead he doesn’t even know what planet he’s from. He’s actually from two rocks closer in.
She probably needs a special tool to wipe her ass, not being able to reach it.
Hey, whatever happened with Crying Boehner’s ‘lawsuit’ against Obam?
GOPe talk, talk, talk, talk.
No action.
