Trump Planning Big TV Ad Blitz?
More saber rattling or will Trump drop the big bucks this time?
Sources from Donald Trump’s campaign claim The Donald is about to launch a massive ad buy, reports Fox News.
Fox News reports Trump’s campaign is working with a Florida-based advertising firm:
Sources in the Trump camp say they will soon launch a major ad blitz that could cost at least $2 million a week, and possibly several times that.
The initial wave of ads will focus on Trump’s vision and his stance on key issues—no bio spots necessary for the celebrity candidate—but that could change if any GOP rivals target him with negative commercials. “If you attack Trump, he will attack you 10 times as hard,” an adviser says. “We will not allow any attack to go unanswered.”
The Trump camp is working with a Florida-based advertising firm, as widely reported, but also with several other media companies, some of which are well-known in the political community, the sources say.
Their advantage, in Iowa, New Hampshire and beyond, is that the bombastic billionaire can just write a check for the TV campaign. Some pundits have expressed skepticism that Trump really wants to dig deeply into his personal fortune, but these sources insist he is ready to do just that—perhaps as much as $100 million for advertising overall. “Our Super PAC,” says the adviser, “is Donald Trump’s bank account.”
The original plan was to saturate the airwaves so that the real estate mogul could define himself before his GOP rivals did it for him. But Trump says he had no need to do that because he generated such saturation coverage, all of it free.
If Trump pours big bucks into an ad campaign—and no budget has been set—he could again confound the prognosticators. While Trump enjoys a 20-point lead in national polls and dominates many state polls, he and Ted Cruz have been trading the lead in Iowa, where a win could give the Texas senator momentum and let some air out of the Trump invincibility balloon. A Gravis poll just before Christmas had Trump and Cruz tied in Iowa at 31 percent.
But is The Donald bluffing?

As Fox News pointed out, Trump’s campaign bragged they were going to drop $25 million in advertising during the third quarter of 2015. That never happened. More saber rattling or will Trump actually drop the big bucks this time?

Oh, goody…!!! Now we get the Ron Popeil of presidential politics.
Huuuu. Zah.
Even if he doesn’t, he’s now generated a lot of press about it and why he’d be doing it.
More free publicity for Trump. Almost as if he planned it.
Trump’s kids are well off and that is why most of us accumulate wealth beyond what we anticipate our needs to be in retirement/old age.
So Trump can burn through a goodly portion of his “bank account” and not be so concerned about it. He also continues to make money on his investments and such, so it isn’t like he’s worried about living under a bridge.
Not surprised. Especially given what Trump wrote in his 2011 book “Time to Get Tough: Making America #1 Again”, which effectively answers many of the questions he keeps getting asked about “how are you” and “what is your” and other things I’m sure he’s amused to be asked, since it is laid right out in the book that those questioning Trump haven’t bothered to read.
Of course some things will have evolved, but we know evolution is a good thing. After all, Liberals claim to “evolve” on issues all the time. See Obama and H Clinton for classic “evolvers”.
You could be right about Trump being a middle of the roader.
But, to speculate his being in the same league as corrupt freaks like Obama and Clinton – there’s just no basis for it. Obama and Clinton have accomplished nothing in their lives. They’re two parasites, accomplished at nothing but destruction and waste.
One thing Donald Trump knows is that ads don’t necessarily translate into votes, or pollling figures. He knows that just from thsi year.
He also knows that political professionals tend to believe that it does, or it could. He may be trying to scare off anti-Trump ads.
Trump also knows that radio is better than television for Republican – and other – primaries, esecially targeting radio.
If this were the truth he wouldn’t just be speaking of television ads. And he’d mention direct mail.
He may have to run some TV ads at some point to maintain credibility as a top candidate.
*especially targeted radio. (certain programs and stations)
And the updated version of his book, which came out in 2015: “Crippled America: How to Make America Great Again”
It makes sense for Trump to suggest that he may be airing commercials.
The rumors will force his opponents to allocate resources in inefficient ways.
It does not make sense to actually run ads at this points. Running ads just wastes resources with little payback.
Nowadays, when my phone rings and I see it is from Senator SoAndSo or the Campaign for XYZ. I stop and listen and say whatever candidate it is for I am going to vote against. Same for commercials. So ads really waste resources and reduce your vote count.
I think the smartest thing for him to do I think, is one week before each primary run one ad, many times. It should sound something “Hi I’m Donald Trump. I haven’t run a lot of ads because they are annoying. You’ve seen the debate. You’ve seen my campaign speaches. If you like what you hear, vote for me.”
Hopefully the trumpalumpolus will get zapped by lighting through that big, lying, blowhard round piehole of a mouth of his and the subject will be moot.
His advertising blitz starts in Iowa, NH, and SC right after the new year. If you want answers to these questions, just follow him on Twitter.
