The White House has named Jesse Lee to a new position within its communications department titled Director of Progressive Media & Online Response. According to The Huffington Post, Lee will essentially be responsible for building up Obama’s online presence as he prepares for his reelection bid, and squashing any negative stories: “The post is a new one for this White House. Rapid response has usually been outsourced to the Democratic National Committee (DNC), if not done on an ad-hoc basis by administration officials. And it signals that the White House will be adopting a more aggressive defense of the president and his policies as his re-election campaign gears up.”

Kathleen: the Professor isn't racist. Don't start. Don't even think of going there.
See, I think you are hinting at a criticism of President Obama. (Which now makes you a possible racist. Ok, you were possibly criticizing one of his employees. Whatever.) Never mind you didn't actually criticized him, you just suggested a criticism. Will we ever make progress with snide comments like yours? Were you an affirmative action hire? Where is that hot line where we can email the White House about people who are telling lies about Health Care Reform. Like stories about doctors who need cash to make the payment on their Bentley, so they amputate a leg for 15K. Can we link to this guy the same way?
We see how you play.
Is this new guy on the Government payroll?
Isn't this pretty much a violation of the Hatch Act?
The only recognizable difference is that this Administration made the position official….which disturbs me to no end that my tax dollars would be paying his salary.
But we had Jeff Gannon in the press room, Jesse Lee in the West Wing, next Administration will make it a Cabinet Position…….
Does this mean we can FOIA his communications with other government agents?
What if he deliberately prevents those communications from being saved by using a private cell phone?
It appears that appointing a federal employee, paid with American taxpayer dollars, specifically to do partisan campaign work (building up BO's online re-election campaign presence and squelching any negative BO re-election campaign stories)is definitely in violation of the Hatch Act as well as Federal Election Campaign Laws. Professor? Attorneys who follow this blog?
"Rapid response"? Don't you mean "rabid response"?
I read at HillBuzz that he's on the taxpayer dime. Isn't that illegal, Professor? Shouldn't Barry's personal campaign internet troll be paid by the DNC, the Obama campaign or Obama's own money and not force US to fund our attacker?
