Trump Asks: Is Ben Carson a Violent Criminal or Pathological Liar?
Keeping it classy
The Donald posted a new ad to his Instagram account Friday morning and like everything else Trump, it’s pretty, shall we say “bold”?
Posted with the caption, “Happy Friday the 13th,” and set to what sounds like a rip-off of the theme music from the popular slasher series, Halloween, Trump’s ad wonders whether fellow Republican presidential candidate, Ben Carson, is a violent criminal or pathological liar.
Carson and Trump have been battling for the coveted title of frontrunner. According to Real Clear Politics polling averages, Trump has pulled ahead less than half a point.

You see they told us Trump would self destruct. We have to go back to a proven loser — such has Romney, McCain or Little Jebbie.
That way we can assure Hillary 2016 is a reality.
The path to victory lies with the Republican Establishment. There is a reason why Mitch McConnell is Majority Leader.
Trump’s so- called ‘self-distruction is greatly exaggerated.
New major 5 day rolling poll hasTrump leading Carson by 14 points.
Trump has risen and Carson has fallen.
Five out of six recent polls show that Trump can’t beat Clinton in a general election. The outlier is Fox, ironically. Fox is the only one of all six polls which shows Trump being able to beat Clinton.
It is the opposite for Carson. Only one out of six recent polls shows that Clinton could beat Carson.

Spot on. Perfect ad. Carson plays a loose game and he is getting called on it.
This shows how much of a reality TV show this really is for Trump. To him it’s all a game and all for cheap laughs. The last debate highlighted his absolute lack of substance. When the field is 15+ candidates, sound bites get you your press. When it’s down to the 5 or so that legitimately have a shot – you have to up your game.
“Believe me when I tell ya” belongs in the QVC channel.
According to actual poll taken by cnn I believe regarding wo won debate it was Trump by a wide margin over second place cruz or rubio. So your take on debate substance is in the minority.
That speaks to the cultishness of Trump fandom. Trumpsters don’t much care what he says or does. They’ll excuse any rude, low-class, dishonest statement or action of their hero, and still cling to the weird belief that he’s more trustworthy and principled than every other candidate (including the admirable and principled governors who were squeezed out by the Trump cult).
Attacking Conservative Voters again?
Should we change your moniker to Rags-gunda?
Yup!
As long as he builds that wall, departs the illegal aliens and sends that first load of 10,000 Syrian “Refugees” that just arrived today 11/13/15 in New Orleans – All Single Males 18-30 Years Old…
What so you suppose Obama and those 10,000 18-30 year old male Syrian “refugees” have planned for you and your daughters, Radegunda?
Trump kinda gives me the willies…..I like what he is saying but what he is saying is what so many people want to hear. I seem to recall a few years ago he was spouting a different batch of hot air. I honestly think he is a plant and if he doesn’t get the nomination he will run as an independant.
Watch the faces of those in the background during this 9 minute clip. They are clearly embarrassed for Trump.

Indeed, the look on those poor people’s faces remind of the audience I was in for a foreign policy speech another megalomaniacal wealthy businessman who saw himself as a Messiah gave. Ted Turner must have self medicated his bipolar disorder with large doses of alcohol that night. I can’t remember much of what he said, but when it was clear the audience was no longer with him, Turner doubled down instead of going back to his stated topic.
What is Trump’s excuse in Iowa?
Reuters 5 day rolling average national poll. Trump 34.5% Carson 19.5%
So what? It is still a long time before votes are cast and opinions can change very fast. In the time between now and the first primary I have seen nore than one candidate over the years go from being Who is that? to a landslide winner because his opponent caught foot in mouth disease.
You fail to realize that these are not the primary voters of each state. These polls are popularity contest votes that mean nothing. In fact they could be mostly Demorat voters hoping and praying that this moron will get the nomination. If Trump had been born a couple of hundred years earlier he would already be dead from a duelest’s bullet between the eyes.
According to recent polls of democrat voters they believe (quite correctly) that Trump would be hardest candidate for Hillary to beat in general election.
the simple fact that Trump is not being eviscerated by the mainstream media right now is proof enough for me NOT to trust him.

Trump’s excuse is that he’s a grotesque little man with a major mental disorder.
People who support him are all ripe for their Ph.ds from Trump University:

Trumpty Dumpty sat on a wall,
Trumpty Dumpty had a great fall.
All of Trump’s chutzpah and all of Trump’s money
Couldn’t put Trumpty together again
This kind of false choice based on false premises is the kind of weak-ass grade school rhetorical device you’d expect from an Alinsky-ite Mizzou SJW. Sad and rather embarrassing that he’s still a leading a Republican candidate.
Yeah, what’s all the fuss about what Carson did? After all, practically everybody takes a hammer to their mother’s head, don’t they? And anybody could have tried to kill their classmate by stabbing him in the gut. Perfectly normal! He’s outgrown that now. Probably he’ll never do anything like that again!
There’s also too much being made of the idea that grain could be stored in the pyramids, don’t you think? Just because they’re solid doesn’t matter, they had advanced methods back then- they just haven’t been reinvented yet. I’m sure top scientists are working on it as we speak!
Carson’s really lucky to have great friends like Al Sharpton, he’s someone that we would all want on our side, right? And some soreheads are mad because Carson supports the TPP and statehood for Puerto Rico- but doesn’t everybody? Borders are overrated too, aren’t they! We should all be citizens of the world, after all.
Yeah, that Trump guy is a real nut, isn’t he! How can anyone not like Carson?
Maybe someday you too will understand the healing powers od God’s grace, which is the lesson Carson was making about overcoming his own once oversized ego.
You can’t hide behind God and be lying at the same time. His mother said she did it, he says he did it. Which one?
Where is the lie since they both agreed the incident happened? They also agree it would not happen today because Ben Carson learned there is more to life than getting angry when one doesn’t get his own way.
Did you just read what I typed? His version of events are completely opposite what his mother’s version of events are. He’s had plenty of time to correct that. He didn’t.
So you’ll vote for the guy who doesn’t know what “pathological” means, and who thinks it’s synonymous with “incurable.”
That’s also the guy who has a history of helping Democrat-leftists get elected, and saying what a wonderful person Hillary Clinton is — the guy who just recently decided to run as a Republican. But now his fans think he’s the purest of the pure.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…..to me, the simple fact that the mainstream media doesn’t have the long knives out for Trump tells me all I need to know. Why, they are salivating at the prospect of a Trump/Hillary dustup where he either falls apart in front of the voters or he becomes so wacky and crazy that voters will think he is absolutely batty. I’m sorry….I like what he says but don’t you think what he is saying is just a little…convenient?
It really doesn’t matter if Carson is nuttier than a fruit cake it’s Trumps action that are reprehensible. I don’t want Carson as my president either but there is a thing called common decency and Trump apparently has never heard of it.
Trump constantly trots out the “political correctness” mantra to excuse his lack of manners. His fans apparently don’t realize that there was such a thing as decency long before there was political correctness.
Carson’s response to this is quite troubling to me. His response is that of a minister or priest. He says “pray for Mr. Trump”. How is Carson going to be able to confront ISIS, Putin, Iran, etc as a meek and mild minister/priest? The world is a tough place and a pacifist novice president will destroy our country. Combine this with his transition to an amnesty supporter and Obamatrade TPP supporter and He is unqualified to be president.
And I didn’t even mention Carson’s new support for amnesty, and Obanatrade/TPP
Carson is qualified to be a minister but HE IS NOT QUALIFIED TO BE PRESIDENT.
I’ve got to go now I’ve got some grain to store in my backyard pyramid because as we all know god did soake to the people and tell them of the miracle of pyramid power to preserve grain.
That’s ridiculous. Responding in kind to patently absurd, nasty, unprovoked attacks by a rude and blustering political rival is quite a bit different from taking necessary action against geopolitical enemies. Carson responded as he did because he is a far better human being than Donald Trump.
Carson stood up in front of Obama and publicly expressed disagreement with his policies. Carson knew that simply going public as a black conservative would bring more vicious attacks against him than Trump has had to endure, and he hasn’t buckled. Carson also didn’t and wouldn’t say, as Trump did, that people should refrain from drawing cartoons of Muhammad because it offends Muslims.
“How is Carson going to be able to confront ISIS…?”
People pray for the dead all the time. What’s your point?
Blustering blowhards usually aren’t actually very tough, they act like that to cover up their insecurities.
Alvin C. York.
“Speak softly and carry a big stick.”
The Middle East is falling apart right now, in part because the White House is currently occupied by a man who speaks bombastically and backs it up with a wet noodle.
Bluster and crass insults are not a sign of strength.
Trump’s attack is a brilliant manuever to show how WEAK is Carson and how unfit is Carson to be president in a world of nuke armed evil. Plus keeps Trump in news and media focusing on all the contridictions in Carson’s story.
Show me the empirical evidence that being soft spoken makes a person weak and conversely that having a loud mouth and gratuitously insulting people predicts that someone has deep convictions and will be a good leader.
That’s right, there isn’t any.
There is however, a good deal of information in the historical record that those of religious conviction and especially those with a conversion story often display great internal strength. The historical record for bullies is not as convincing.
Right — because someone who grows up in poverty and becomes the best ROTC student in Detroit and applies to only one college, Yale, because he doesn’t have the money for more application fees, and then becomes a neurosurgeon and successfully separates conjoined twins, and then publicly expresses disagreement with Obama’s policies in front of Obama, and then campaigns as a black conservative Republican, and doesn’t lose his temper when people trash him … is obviously a weak person.
But Trump fans will do whatever they must in order to keep pretending that their hero is the greatest, wisest, most principled candidate ever.
This, exactly.
Is that you Yoda? I haven’t seen writing like your since Star Wars.
Since Star Wars, writing like yours I haven’t seen.
Sounds cooler that way
Carson may very well have made a miraculous personal transformation to become the respected neurosurgeon he is today.
However, as he seems to relish detailing his early thuggery as a some kind of badge of perverse honor, one can only wonder to whom he’s trying to appeal/pander.
If a new neighbor moved in next door who seemed pleasant and friendly and I discovered he tried to murder someone with a knife to the gut, I would keep my distance.
My guess is that Carson exaggerated these violent incidents for his book written in connection with his community work on education. He wanted to be perceived as not an anomaly, but just like the violent inner-city youth he was trying to encourage.
I like and respect Carson but he is fair game.
Carson is not a member of a socialist protected class, he can expect oppo from Trump and all the other candidates.
What’s interesting to me is the Liberal Media’s Dilemma:
They want to defend Carson and call Trump a racist but, they can’t because they have decided Carson is a traitor to the black race b/c Conservative.
Redemption is what’s on the table to be discussed.
This is not the movie Shawshank Redemption and Carson is not Red Redding.
He’s fair game for honest criticism, but dishonest and rude and vile personal attacks are another thing.
Meanwhile, Trump fans take it very ill when their hero is scrutinized in any way. Imagine what they would say if Carson had lobbed such a nasty, unprovoked attack on Trump — which of course he wouldn’t do, because he is a much better human being than Donald Trump.
It certainly does seem to be all about faith and magical thinking. Just witness the nature of the attacks. Several sites have had to land the ban hammer on Trump supporters for personal attacks on anyone who didn’t like their secular messiah. What’s interesting is many of these attacks came from newly registered user names who only seemed to comment on the Trump threads, nowhere else.
Why would you say something as silly as that? There are overaggressive posters for every single one of the candidates. I’ve seen Cruz and Rubio supporters go waaay to far and get kicked out. We actually have a few here that can’t contain themselves.
I’ve seen emotional and abusive response to criticism of their candidate ONLY from Trump fans.
People get contentious during a primary.
Using a broad brush to paint candidates’ supporters really isn’t accurate or fair.
The worst of the Trump haters at LI amounts to a small but very aggressive group. Trump supporters are mostly defending themselves from personal attacks, in my view.
Seems the vast majority of comments at LI discuss Trump more than the rest of the field put together.
If there’s anything pathological here, it’s the need for Trump to belittle, mock and demean people – constantly!
Evangelicals certainly understand the transformative power of the Living God. I think we are witnessing the beginning of the end for Mr. Trump.
Not everyone is an evangelical.
” I think we are witnessing the beginning of the end for Mr. Trump.”
I’ll add bt1 to the list of people proclaiming the end of trump. Each one on that list has been wrong 100% of the time.
But this time will be different…
Trump fans whine that Trump critics characterize them as “stupid.” I’ve never used that word for Trump fans, though I have pointed out ways their fandom is faith-based and their responses to Trump critics are more emotional than rational.
Now, Trump openly characterizes Carson supporters as “stupid.” Does that bother Trump fans? Apparently not at all. Instead, they try to spin it as another sign of Trump’s putative superiority.
I am getting a strange feeling that Trump may be a Trojan horse? Wouldn’t it be something if this was all just a ruse?
That was a bizarre 95 min. rally.
Trump is one big insult machine and yet his polling is still very good. So, this means that the polls are not real, voters like his insults, or that the his insults are nothing compared with the insults by the establishment. Not sure which one but just when I think that Trumo has stepped over the line he continues to move forward,
I think his polls are high in large part because thoughtful people are still weighing the merits of different candidates from an overlarge pool, whereas Trump draws all of the people who like swagger and bombast and rudeness, and don’t worry much about things like intellectual consistency or character, or what the legitimate powers of a president actually are.
There’s only one candidate who meets the desires of that sort of voter.
Remember that Obama had very high poll numbers too — notwithstanding his manifest unfitness for the office.
Carson may indeed have “overcompensated” for the troubled parts of his youth, but he did it mostly by taking a path that involved diligent study and becoming a world renowned brain surgeon.
But many of his positions bother me, not his past so much.
Trump being outrageous seems to work so far. Such audaciousness certainly has worked for Democrats as they call Republicans every name in the book. We whine about being called names over the global warming baloney (ignorant climate deniers), or over illegal immigration (racists) and all the rest absurd hate speech.
So the question seems to be whether some of that style of “let it fly” attack can work for a Republican, without MSM support. Certainly many feel Romney gave away the election by backing down after the first debate, but Romney had specifics down better.
Hopefully Cruz will come along and pick up the pieces, and be strong on “No Amnesty”. Illegal immigration is the huge issue that will play in the primary and general. Interior enforcement and a closed border is not as hard as they make it, except for the political will power.
But if it’s Trump, maybe we get a bigger shake up … which is coming in time anyway. I wish he’s read his own position papers and make me believe he believes them. Wild ride ahead in any case, it seems.
The only thing more embarrassing than what Trump said is his defenders trying to justify it.
Here are some notes from a Carson rally ( http://www.unshackledaction.com/#!carson-rally/c1oar ). If Trump visits and I can attend, I’ll post something for that as well, though I fear I’m unlikely to be so kind in my comments.
Events in Paris today show once again why we need Trump, Trumps wall and Trump’s willingness to act. Carson can pray for them but I want my president to KILL them, stop them, eliminate them (the terrorists).
All Trump did was bring attention to the obvious lies in Carsons story. Carson comes across as such a decen5 guy that nobody was looking critically at his unbelievable claims. You have to believe god intervened and worked a miracle to stop that knife with a belt buckle. It was either a miracle from god or Carson is a liar Those are the only choices. All Trump did was pull back the curtain and expose thevchoices Carson presents to rational thinkers.
He also exposed Carson as weak and unable to handle confrontation.
Maybe Carson gives such a weak response is because any other response invites more scrutiny of his claim that god intervened and worked a miracle with that belt buckle. A miracle belt buckle that nobody can confirm or corroborate.
Things that make you g9 hmmmmm…
Trump said it was wrong to draw pictures and label them “Mohammad” because it offends Muslims. There is little indication that he understands the ways that Islam itself is a huge civilizational problem.
When that point has been raised before, Trump fans have responded by belittling the concern — saying e.g. that it’s only Geller’s or Spencer’s hobbyhorse. Carson has actually shown more awareness that Islam is a problem.
Trump said “Vlad will take care of it, no worries.” Back to the long con: “Carson is an axe murderer, vote for me.”
Trump is a liberal Democrat who is playing the rubes like a violin.
Unfortunately, there are lots of rubes.
Oh now you’re insulting Carl Icahn and Jeff Sessions.
Looks like Trump has everyone all fired up and talking about Trump again. He’s not running for Your Kindly Grandfather.
Carson caved on illegals, TPP, and Puerto Rican Statehood all within a week. But, he’s such a nice guy. Just who we need to open our arms to Syrian refugees. What could go wrong? Pray for us all.
I need to look into why Puerto Rico statehood would be a bad thing. They get all the benefits but don’t pay the taxes. They come and go as though they’re a state already. Whats the issue with that?
Two guaranateed D senators.
One thing that struck me about this whole thread, and most other comments on this topic, is that unlike a liberal site, there are no attacks about racism – not one word that I could see. It’s all about opinions and points of view. Even though the rhetoric is heated, it’s for the most part civil. In other words, those on the right have more intelligent conversations than those on the left. This is why I read LI and like those (most) who comment here.
Racist.
🙂
Well, what you do you think about Trump’s opening line? “I didn’t say it, I didn’t say it.” That’s as good as saying it.
Did Trump leave a comment here?
Young Ben Carson. Here is SNL’s version of pulling back the curtain on Ben Carson the man of peace, just as did Mr. Trump. So much for the electable Dr. Carson.
http://www.breitbart.com/video/2015/11/15/watch-snl-mocks-ben-carson/
Trump 2016. Not because of the bombast but because of his policies. Trump 2016 -> Trumo wall in 2017. Trump 2016 -> Obama’s imported Syrian revolutionary army back in Syria 2017.
