What’s Outside the Beltway got to do with thumbs up & thumbs down here? I scanned the comments on several posts at OTB and saw very few ratings registered.
OTB used to be a decent centrist blog – actually it still is. Jemes Joyner, its originator has allowed its comment section to become a cesspool of lefty bile. It is damn near impossible to have a rational conversation there anymore. The “like or dislike” tool is used not based upon the content of any individual comment but the identity of the commenter. And if enough people dislike you, your comments are summarily hidden.
LukeHandCool (who wants to go on the record as saying, just in case someone does the inconceivable and, when distracted, mistakenly clicks on the thumbs down on one of Luke’s comments: “LI community members, each one of you is my best friend … except the guy who mistakenly gave me the thumbs down).
Interesting! I’m anxious to see how some readers are rated…I.e., DinoRightMarie. I always enjoy her missives!
OTOH, what if some posters give themselves a plethora of thumbs up? Realize that I am from Chicago, so that thought kind of goes with the corrupt culture here. : )
Excellent work! I think the “Like or Dislike” should be smaller or over on the right or something, because I’m seeing it being incorporated into a message. Commentators here are too clever and my synapses are misfiring.
When can we thumbs up or thumbdown your posts prof?
Wow! That ‘feature’ is now available, too. First it was to the left, now it’s positioned (at the moment and more appropriately) to the right. Legal Insurrection is a magical place, isn’t it?
.
Well, if we’re doing thumbs up, then I’m 2 thumbs up for a Tebow win tonight. Go Broncos! I know you’re a New England kind of guy Professor, but America loves an underdog.
Gosh! This is just like voting in California; you don’t have to show any ID what-so-ever.
Not sure whether I like it or not; another site I used to frequent installed it on some of it’s message boards and it quickly devolved into a mechanism for mischief.
I’m interested in ideas that aren’t popular at the moment. If there were a way to identify whose insights work out over weeks, months, or years, I’d be all for it.
ATTORNEY - EQUAL PROTECTION PROJECT - Legal Insurrection Foundation is seeking an Attorney for the Equal Protection Project (EqualProtect.org). For information on the job opening contact Talent Market.

This reader requests that you get rid of “thumbs up/thumbs down”. Try reading the comments at Outside the Beltway for an example.
It was not supposed to hide comments which get thumbs down. I’ll look into that.

I think we have effectively disabled the feature which hides comments based on the number of dislikes. I hate that feature.
Couldn’t you just keep pressing “dislike” on that feature until it goes away? Irony can be so ironic…
All 10 thumbs up!!
Are “thumbs down” considered opposable thumbs?

Hahahaha. I down-thumbed you. But it was insincere.
I was going to hit “dislike” for your comment, but dislike is too mild for how I feel.
Can we get a “hate” button?
Looking into it.
lol, c’mon, don’t be a hater.

I think it is a great idea to so people can see if the commenter is off their rocker or not.
Ooooh, not entirely positive if I want to see visible commentary on the status of my rocker! Hee hee
Wouldn’t the reader already know that – based on their own judgment?
If you can’t figure out if someone is “off their rocker” by reading the comment, then what good are like/dislike buttons?
Newt!

On the right is most apropos.
When can we thumbs up or thumbdown your posts prof? (not that I would ever thumbsdown…no please don’t hit the ban button…awww)

Are you calling me blind?! There is absolutely no…oh look at that, there’s right there. Cool thanks!
(Sarcasm intended in all random outbursts!)
On a political blog, shouldn’t the thumbs point left or right?
Actually on a political blog we should be grateful that the digit chosen is the thumb.

Fourth look Perry!

All this and still no SEC Football feature.
What will it take for sports in the Securities and Exchange Commission to get the recognition they so richly deserve on these pages?
Testing …
Barney Frank, Nancy Pelosi, Jimmy Carter, Barack Obama, Keith Olbermann, Henry Hawkins, The View, Rachel Maddow, Harry Reid … Testing …
My EYES!!!
HEY.
I’d rather see Up-Twinkle & Down-Twinkle buttons.
And on a serious note, how about a google +1 button?
