Where Is The Media On Hateful Rhetoric Towards Cops?
It’s *almost* like there’s a double standard…
The murder of Harris County Sheriff’s Deputy Darren Goforth in Texas, sent shock waves around that community and around the police community at large due to the senseless nature of the crime. Goforth was merely filling his cruiser up with gas when Shannon Miles (allegedly) came up behind Goforth, shot in the head and then proceeded to continue shooting him when Goforth was on the ground.
Sheriff Ron Hickman has been pretty bold in stating he believes the motive was in part based on all of the police bashing that has been going on as of late, particularly in the #BlackLivesMatter movement:
“This rhetoric has gotten out of control,” said Goforth’s boss, Harris County, Texas, Sheriff Ron Hickman. “We’ve heard ‘Black lives matter,’ ‘All lives matter.’ Well, cops’ lives matter, too. So why don’t we just drop the qualifier, and just say ‘Lives matter,’ and take that to the bank?”
Critics were quick to point out that no such connection could be determined:
“There’s no evidence that there’s a connection between this rhetoric, or this sort of national discourse … and what happened,” CNN political commentator Marc Lamont Hill said. “It’s an awful tragedy, but I don’t think it’s connected.”
That said, the numbers tell a disturbing story:
In 2014, 15 officers were shot and killed in ambush attacks, the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund said in December. That’s triple the number of officers who were killed in ambush shootings in 2013, the group said.
The media of course, has downplayed any connection between some of the more violent rhetoric coming from the radical wing of the #BlackLivesMatter movement, but they took no such precautions in 2011 when Jared Loughner opened fire at constituents meeting for Representative Gabby Giffords. It didn’t take long for the media to turn their eyes on Saran Palin and “hateful rhetoric” in general, Here are some examples:

A simple Google search will bring up dozens of examples. Of course, after the investigation was completed, the public learned the shooting had nothing to do with politics and instead was carried out by a very disturbed individual who had a host of mental issues. Sarah Palin nor “hateful rhetoric” played any part.
The frustrating aspect of how the media covers this entirely focuses on two areas:
- When a cop does something wrong, the media has no issue throwing a blanket over “the police” and their tactics, grouping all cops together. They are quick to parrot the talking points of left wing activists and agitators when something happens. However, when a radical Muslim commits an act of terror, the same media is quick to make the case that such incidents are isolated and not indicative of the Muslim faith as a whole.
- The media is quick to latch on to a narrative, even if it is false so long as it advances the “correct” agenda. They don’t seem to be willing to entertain the idea that inflammatory rhetoric about cops could cause problems but they helped to perpetuate the “Hands Up, Don’t Shoot” myth. It never happened yet the media was happy to go on about without having any of the facts.
Meanwhile, hundreds of people showed up at a vigil for Deputy Goforth at the gas station where he was murdered:

Many who attended the vigil for Harris County sheriff’s deputy Darren H. Goforth said they were there to support the police, and some said they were frustrated with the “black lives matter” movement and what they said was an increased hostility against all police.
Those who knew Goforth described him as “just a really nice guy.”
“It’s not fair,” said Mikayla De Los Santos, whose father was friends with Goforth, through tears.
“When we were younger and we used to be home alone, he would always drive by and check to make sure we were OK,” said Simone Langland, who has been friends with De Los Santos since childhood. “It’s just so sad, and it’s not fair he couldn’t even defend himself,” she said.
In addition to that, Texas Governor Greg Abbott ordered Texas flags to to be flown at half-staff to honor Deputy Goforth.

The pictures over at the Gateway Pundit showed a very mixed (racially) crowd offering comfort to the family and police. It’s a shame this has to matter, but it does.
Houston is where a black Republican and a white Democrat were running for mayor, so they decided to drop race as a subject of the campaign, and merely discuss the issues.
As long as the Big Media controls most of what Americans see and hear, we’re going to have this problem. That’s why the internet is such a blessing — it’s eroding their wall….
Some months back, I predicted there will be a law-and-order backlash, and it do believe its already forming.
As American people, we most all understand that the racial divide that that’s been exploited by Pres. ScamWOW and his Obami outlaw gang is “on the wrong side of history”, and we won’t stand for it.
We already know how to fix it, and it’s really no more complex than putting the race hustlers behind us and being good neighbors to anyone who will let us.
And I would add to your point about being on the wrong side of history by asking where are the ‘beer summits’ being called for now from the “One” in power.
The “One” can take the issue and lead the effort to stop the mis-treatment of those in uniform too, can’t he?
Because blue lives do matter too! And the “One” doesn’t acknowledge that.
Well, it was reported yesterday that Barracula DID call the widow Goforth, and he DID say publicly that killing LEOs was bad.
If, however, his remarks followed form, they were coupled with a lot of bullspit about our long history of racial wrongs and how our current treatment of some communities is still just SOOOOOOOO wrong, yammah, yammah…stir the pot…
What’s going on in this country goes far beyond “hateful rhetoric” – it would seem that everywhere Black Lives Matters takes to the streets, they’re acting as domestic terrorists. Not only that, but calling for murder and mayhem cannot be tolerated in a civil society with expectations that things won’t deteriorate into chaos.
The Lefties thought they could control what they’ve deliberately created, nourished and unleashed. They can’t and they’re going to find that out. These thugs are going to go for them just as they’re going for innocent Americans.
The KKK hid their deeds, these people are not.

As many times as I have heard this, it still makes me sick. Whatever happens with 2016, I hope Al’s Whitehouse access becomes null and void.
I saw this story at Drudge. Millions and millions of people go there every day. He has a knack of picking out the headlines. Not TV. Not the networks. Just one man. Drudge.

On the other hand, I think reasonable people could agree that there’s no evidence that there isn’t a connection.
One could certainly believe that the lawlessness milieu of this administration, the top LEOs (Obama, Eric Holder, etc.), its extant unelected operatives in various agencies (e.g., IRS, DOJ, EPA, the State Dept.) and the SCOTUS rulings has had a huge effect on the black community due to that community’s extreme dependence on government to tell them the direction of their lives and to provide them with the promised land’s “Hope and Change.”
The government has become slave master and god to these folk. Their lives are subjected to the lies coming from a bully pulpit that divides when it needs to unify and is silent when words must be spoken. And then there is the slave master tyranny of welfare-“You are too stupid and too unable to do for yourself, here, take this.”
“Hope and Change” as imagined, not forthcoming, leads to an overriding disillusionment and despair, to aimlessness and anger. The anger, of course, is redirected via “BlackLivesmatter, via racially motivated mayors and Sharptons, via the deafening silence of the Hate Lords mentioned above and via anti-gun activism.
Right now, as a sheriff is being buried, Obama the top LEO is renaming a mountain and talking about climate change. The lord and master of his boat’s slave crew is disengaged from the realities of this world.
Obama’s legacy, as in the renaming of a mountain, is the renaming of history to have it look favorably upon him, from a mountaintop view. Obama can see his own promised land of “Hope and Change” from the top of his mountainous ego-futures of capitalized milk and honey in the climate change marketplace ala Al Gore.
So, the hate lords reap what they have sown and we bury a good white man with kids who was shot in the back of his head several times. And we bury a little black girl who was killed while at home on her bed doing her homework.
All of this while Mt. McKinley is being renamed by a Progressive (Al Gore II) with a Climate Change agenda.

There’s a profound irony in all this.
There’s anger and bitterness in the black community, as well as a false sense of victimhood. Guided by their grievance cheerleaders, sharpton et. al., they are claiming repairs for what was done “to them” hundreds of years ago.

Hundreds of years ago, thousands of black Africans were hunted down like animals, they were chained and sold as slaves. It was done to them, no doubt. And no doubt such thing was horrendous. But it was done to them by other blacks!
The slave traders share blame too, and their business was an inhumane one, and disgusting by today’s standards. But they were not the ones hunting their brothers and sisters to sell them.
Such irony.
Here we are, hundreds of years later, and Blacks continue to be victimized and taken advantage of by some within their own community.
Al Sharpton, the Black Panthers, “Black Life Matters” and the obami; they are today’s slave hunters. They hunt and they chain their own brothers and sisters, and then sell them to the Democrat slave traders.
And it’s ironic. And sad.
Because somehow, we are all forgetting that there were men and women that fought a war, that gave their lives to abolish slavery.
Somehow, we are losing track of who are the real racists in this entire story.
Remember it was mainly other African tribes and Muslims who were capturing their fellow Africans and selling them into slavery. The white slavers were at the end of the channel of distribution…………
The mainstream media is the propaganda arm of the Democratic Party, so, of course they will be denying responsibility for the carnage they are promoting. The Democratic Party is in armed insurrection against the United States. The Civil War is under way. You can see the casualties.
The Democrat/MSM narrative against cops is vile and coordinated. The orchestrated meme has chosen black criminals as heroes, as if the nation is run by racist gangs now, and cops and whites are rival gangs.
There are many black parents trying to responsibly raise their children, that must deal with not only the allure of the gangs, but the top down praise of troublemakers and criminals like Trayvon and Brown.
This angry Baltimore Mom has the right idea, catching her son rioting. She should be saying “stop listening to Obama and his racist crap … get home and do your homework so you can contribute to society. Don’t be one of Obama’s useful idiots on welfare for life.”

It is not as if the BLM mob used racially and sexually charged words such as “he”, “she”, “alien” or “baby”. They were merely chanting “Pigs in a blanket, Fried ’em like bacon.” which could mean just about anything. /s
I have been more and more inclined to think that the end game for Blaclivesmatters is not a change in the laws or methods of incarceration . They have no talking points ,no program to offer. I think it is a top down organization and the end wanted is reparations . I think even Obama knows he can’t mass release the “oppressed prisoners” without backlash . He wants to rely on white guilt to push thru reparations with an executive order and Congress will let him.
No, they DO have some specific proposals that they want.
One of the principal ones is that police be overseen by a civilian board with NOBODY in any way connected to law enforcement.
Which, of course, ain’t gonna happen in an red jurisdiction. Baltimore? Maybe.
Would they HAVE a police department after that? Not in any normative sense.
Interesting how the decades of white police criminality,in particular white cops getting away with killing unarmed non threatening black people shouldn’t come into the discussion. You could also take some time to really read the commentary here and you’d see that not all conservatives show “knee-jerk” support for cops. There are plenty of us here that are skeptical of all government power, especially police power. But it’s delusional to think that the proper response to police abuses is to take to the streets riling people up to murder them in cold blood. Nobody can really be that big of a moron, can they?
