Sean Hannity vs. the #BaltimoreRiots Protester
“We shouldn’t be moralizing people’s anger.”
The Baltimore riots are raging, which means that the parade of talking heads, activists, and local flacks has begun in force. Last night, Sean Hannity spoke to Adam J. Jackson, a Maryland activist and CEO of Leaders of a Beautiful Struggle, about whether or not what’s happening in Baltimore is a movement anyone with a brain should be involved in.
Jackson quickly got to his talking points, and made a valiant attempt at ignoring the issue at hand:
“Is this the type of protest you want to be a part of?” Hannity asked Jackson, as footage of burning looting debris played in the background.
“First and foremost, I’m not going to talk about the violence that people are talking about,” Jackson replied. “This is a response to the violence of the Baltimore City Police Department. People talking about the fires burning in Baltimore, there’s been fires burning of mass incarceration, racist police practices, so this is an outgrowth of that.”
In response, Hannity noted that a majority of the city’s police are minority race, suggesting that therefore there cannot be institutionalized racism.
In fact, that’s not what Hannity was doing. He did question Jackson’s assertion that these protests are the organic reaction to systemic oppression of blacks in Baltimore, but he did it because Jackson himself refused to address the the violence currently tearing apart the lives of innocent people in west Baltimore.
For Jackson, though, that juxtaposition of various oppressions is meaningless. He quickly pivoted, laying the blame on “elite politicians” (both republican and democrat) and decades of public policy.
Jackson talks an awful lot during this train wreck of an appearance, but never once does he condemn human-on-human violence, or even recognize the difference between protests—even desperate protests—and all-out riots. Although he finally admits that violence is not an effective means of securing justice, he proclaims, “but I will not moralize on black people.”
That, of course, makes no sense. Jackson wants to use metaphors to highlight incarceration rates, but incarceration rates are not the same as fires that burn down corner stores and senior centers. Dragging a man out of a store and beating him isn’t a flash awareness-raising campaign; it’s an act of vengeance.
Jackson knows this. He’s willing to sacrifice sanity on the altar of politically correct vigilantism, which makes him just as dangerous as the next person to throw a match at a building.
As of this writing, Baltimore is still burning. We’ll keep you updated as the situation progresses—or devolves.

These lunatics are America’s Brownshirts, taking marching orders from the White House, via tax cheat Al Sharpton, and protected from prosecution by the corrupt Eric Holder (now Loretta Lynch, minus the nose picking – so far.)

Hillary Clinton’s massive influence peddling racket is a criminal enterprise, but it pales compared to Baltimore Barry Obama’s wholesale corruption of the American government.
Just as Baltimore’s police under its psycho mayor stand by and do nothing as the city burns, so does the GOP House stand by and do nothing under its a-hole Squeaker, so as our Constitution burns.
Obama is not the problem. because there will always be bad guys getting into executive power. The problem is Boehner, the talentless coward we tolerate to police them.
I’m being microagressed and triggered by your use of the inherent coding in words such as brownshirts, tax cheat, and corrupt. We all know that these are codewords for… Democrats.
/sarc tag for the impaired.
Yah, everyone know it is the Republicans’ fault that the Democratic President has pursued foolish policies.
This insane democrat president’s ‘pursuit’ of ‘foolish’ policies should have be only been a pursuit. Once voters threw Pelosi out, it all should have changed.
Instead, the GOP – while firmly holding the enormous power of the House – has simply stood like a minority party and allowed Obama piss on the Constitution and continue his intentional destruction of our nation.
We tolerate an absolutely useless clown to remain as Speaker of the GOP House, and we tolerate more useless clowns remaining GOP Chairman and head of the GOP senate.
Obama and Jarrett’s glee at this idiocy must be a sight to behold. Probably akin to what went on behind closed doors between Hitler and Goebbels.
For his sins, we should force Boehner to be the mayor of Baltimore.
For our sins in tolerating Boehner, we will have to live in Obama’s America.
I think the approach taken by the mayor and chief of police in Baltimore may have been a timely experiment. Certainly the extreme restraint shown by the police has been in keeping with the request of the United States president, who has taken an interest in this matter.
There has long been criticism of the police for enforcing the laws of our country, because although vigorous law enforcement (broken window enforcement) has been used with success in large cities such as New York and Washington DC, the result has been the incarceration of large numbers of young men from particular neighborhoods in each city.
In this particular case, the President of the United States made a recommendation on how to handle the threatened riots, which was namely to give the local ministers and some associations of young men, a chance to persuade the after-dark demonstrators to remain calm and refrain from arson and looting. They tried it, sometimes at risk of their own personal safety.
The after-dark demonstrators engaged in a strategy of splitting up into small groups, and committing scattered arson and burglary over a wide area. It would be very interesting to know whether the pattern of destruction is different from other riots such as the ones that occurred after the killing of Dr. Martin Luther King and after the Rodney King verdict.
It is going to take a while, but we will find out who the physical actors were, and whether they physical actors were even locals. There are a LOT of recognizable pictures of people engaging in crimes, and some of the other locals have been sure to post privately-taken video on the ‘Net, in an effort to bring these criminals to justice.
Also, we may just see some black Republicans emerge from this wreckage. There is an ongoing debate in this country about how to handle policing, particularly in bad neighborhoods. Republicans have long held the notion that black people deserve protection, too. Last night, the Democratic emphasis on “restraint” resulted in an enormous amount of damage to the black community, a fact that was not lost on the residents of Baltimore. Similarly, there have been a lot of black residents of Baltimore who have put themselves at risk to stop this nonsense, drawing the admiration of some Conservatives. This could be one of those “we are all in this, together moments.”
The simple fact is that Conservatives support policies that give blacks equal protection under the laws. Conservatives have never supported “Let it burn” as a policy, whether it be a national forest or a city.
The “give them space” to act out theory, if it is even that, was used in Ferguson, as I see it. The guard was already called out, but basically told to stand down. (as in Benghazi, Russia, Iran talks, IRS investigations, etc.) Gov. Nixon is reported to have spoken with Jarret three times that day, but not with the Lt Gov’ nor the local mayors. The very store Brown had robbed was left unguarded, so was apparently part of “the space” given for acts of revenge. It seemed the imported “anonymous” types were on the scene.
So now we know what a community organizer does, as we see it on a national level. They get authorities to stand down, and make national news to inspire others in the nation to riot and burn.
Union thug Trumka visited Obama a lot, and I’m sure he helped him perfect “the shrug off” … “gee, don’t give me what I want, and who knows what some of my union guys might do … I can’t control them”. The “get in their faces” theory, applied even to pizza places or bakeries.
The Baltimore councilman guy was live on FOX, said they had asked the cops to stand down, and he acted like it was working because he was talking with some folks. But at the same time the looters were rummaging through stores and fires were going, right across the street. He was angry that the media was covering the looters and fires, and not giving his showboating enough attention.
That’s insane … it is never everyone doing the criminal activity … all he did was get attention, and let the businesses be destroyed. He acts like there is some other message of oppression, but he needs to get his little groups together before the riots, AND make sure cops stop the criminals. This “they deserve to get a little loot, and release a little rage with arson” is insane. But perhaps manufactured crisis is what they want, per Trumka rules of coercion.
An astute observation, Rhino. There is a long and sordid history of union violence being given a special dispensation by law enforcement. I’ve seen it.
They can crack heads, slash tires, threaten opponents, and even commit bombings and arson with impunity in many places.
The kind of thing we’re seeing in various places around the nation is no different. But whenever a leader makes a clear and unambiguous stand against any kind of thuggery, it just doesn’t happen much at all. Funny how that works…
Of course the fundamental flaw with that course of action is the premise that the would-be rioters are people of goodwill, or at least honestly motivated by some belief the police did something wrong, when what they are rioting for is more freedom for criminals to rob and steal and for certain illegal businesses not to be hampered, and their customers’ stealing not to hampered, at least in certain locations…
And also for government contracts.
I am not exaggerating or being sarcastic.
That’s exactly what the rioting is all about, except that they can’t quite openly say it.
Well put.
“The after-dark demonstrators engaged in a strategy of splitting up into small groups, and committing scattered arson and burglary over a wide area.”
I my military days I seem to remember a class or something were this was called “Gorilla Warfare” and/or “Terrorist Tactics” depending on the era you were discussing.
If you were in the military, it was probably guerrilla warfare you studied. I think gorilla warfare is for our less developed primate cousins.
(smiles)
Accidentally downthumbed you going for the reply button. Damn.
Its all good. Actually I was in the military in the early nineties when the lexicon was changed fro Gorilla Warfare to Terrorist Tactics. I can still remember the Memo/Order about it. 🙂
Though in this case I prefer to call it like it is and say that they are acting like Potbellied Savages. Lord of the Flies has nothing on these folks.
I’ll take the brownshirts seriously when they turn in their EBT cards, sec. 8 vouchers, foo’ stamps, cell foams, and their rimz. Until then, they will continue to convince America why they should be loaded onto ships and floated back to Africa so they can become a “community” of African-Africans.
“…although vigorous law enforcement (broken window enforcement) has been used with success in large cities such as New York and Washington DC, the result has been the incarceration of large numbers of young men from particular neighborhoods in each city.”
I think you’ll find the OPPOSITE is true. Crime has gone down AND so have incarceration rates.
I wish we could call looting by some other name, in order to refresh it’s meaning and re-attach a crime to it. Burglarize, maybe.
Anyone else notice that this doesn’t seem to happen where business owners and private citizens have the right to defend their property?
Probably should complete that thought a little better….. idiots are less likely to start crap with people who can do something about it.

The blame for this can be laid directly at Martin O’Malley’s feet.
He and his socialist goons have taken away every Marylander’s right to defend themselves.
1) There is NO concealed carry for 99.9% of the public. Maryland is a “may issue” state, and by “may issue” I mean rarely/never issue.
2) Maryland is a “duty to retreat” state. You cannot stand your ground. You cannot defend yourself. You must run away if any avenue exists.
3) It’s illegal in Maryland to use deadly force in coming to the aid of another – so trying to protect somebody with a gun will land you in jail for a long, long time.
Because reasonable honest people cannot legally defend themselves, their family, their friends, and their possessions the rioters and thugs rule the streets.
This is all Martin O’Malley’s work. Please remember this when you vote in November 2016.
“2) Maryland is a “duty to retreat” state. You cannot stand your ground. You cannot defend yourself. You must run away if any avenue exists.”
This is not quite accurate. Maryland is actually a Castle Doctrine state believe it or not, no duty to retreat in your dwelling.
The main problem with your comment is the second sentence; “You must run away if any avenue exists”. As Mr. Branca has pointed out on this site many times and in his book, even in states with a duty to retreat that duty only applies if you can retreat in complete safety.
(has the duty) “‘to retreat or avoid danger if such means were within his power and consistent with his safety.'” DeVaughn v. State, 232 Md. 447, 453, 194 A.2d 109, 112 (1963)
“[I]f the peril of the defendant was imminent, he did not have to retreat but had a right to stand his ground and to defend and protect himself.” (Bruce v. State, supra, 218 Md. at 97, 145 A.2d at 433.)
Duty to retreat does not mean that you must let yourself be shot in the back. Even in the states with the most harsh duty to retreat laws, you are never required to retreat if it further compromises your safety.
What we saw happen in Baltimore was the policy of the city’s mayor. That is the same policy that obama has put in place throughout the world concerning the use of force by American troops. We see the same results in both instances. We see what a liberal view of force means and we see that it doesn’t work. obama has under estimated the intent of jihadists throughout the Middle East and the mayor has done the same in Baltimore. These are not sane reasonable people. They are murderers and thieves. Force is the only thing they respect.
“Obama has under estimated the intent of jihadists throughout the Middle East and the mayor has done the same in Baltimore. These are not sane reasonable people. They are murderers and thieves. Force is the only thing they respect.”
Or, alternate theory: Get in their faces includes riot and burn (force), in some instances. Fundamental transformation works better with the “force” of chaos. Then their manufactured crisis requires radical changes to the republic. The force of Holder showing up pushed (average thuggish young gangsters) Trayvon and Brown into a national spotlight as murdered innocent children, inspiring hoodies and hands up riots (their commie/Trumka style force against we the people), all based in lies and propaganda.
Obama/Holder/Sharpton believe in force, but they use it against traditional America, and order our normal processes to “stand down”. It took the Egyptian military to remove Obama’s Christian killing buddy Morsi. Who will stop Obama/Hillary types here?
“Obama has under estimated the intent of jihadists throughout the Middle East and the mayor has done the same in Baltimore. These are not sane reasonable people. They are murderers and thieves. Force is the only thing they respect.”
I don’t think he has “underestimated” anything, I have come to believe that he is in favor of their intent.
For years now, MSM talking heads and the federal alphabet soup LEOs have all been expressing serious concerns about domestic terrorists. Funny, but I don’t see anyone being arrested on such charges despite copious examples on video in both Ferguson or Baltimore.
They’re “angry” about blacks being killed by police? If you look at U.S. statistics, more than twice as many whites are killed by police as blacks, despite the fact that blacks commit a disproportionate number of violent crimes. Also, killings of whites by police has been on the rise for the past few decades, while killings of blacks by police has been decreasing.
Or are they “angry” at the fact that there are so few jobs for them, like that Orioles guy suggested? What the Orioles guy failed to mention was the reason for the shitty Baltimore economy and the lack of jobs: Obama and the Democrats. It’s Obama who has thrown open our borders, and is flying in (on our dime) millions of new, low-skilled illegal aliens. It is Obama who just appointed a new Attorney General who testified that illegal aliens have a “right” to jobs in the U.S. It is also Obama and the Democrats who are bought and paid for by the big companies (like Google, Apple, GE, the banks, etc.) who outsource American jobs to cheaper locations overseas.
So maybe these “angry” rioters should be directing their anger at the source: the same corrupt politicians like Obama that they keep voting back into office.
They simply don’t like law enforcement. And the laws they donm’t like are laws against selling drugs and the like, and laws against robbery, because the addicts need to rob to pay for the drugs.
They would also like some government contracts, and please, no audits.
All else is obfustication.

They told me if I voted for Conservatives, we’d see black churches burning, and old people burned out of their homes.
And they were right. Sort of…
Hey, Amy, if you feel compelled to put up a clip of that idiot on Hannity, why not give us the interview with this guy…???
http://twitchy.com/2015/04/28/sheriff-clarke-unloads-on-mealy-mouth-politicians-who-created-a-permanent-underclass-time-to-clear-the-streets/
Listening to Hannity’s show has become tiring. His show consists of arguing with idiots. When you argue with an idiot, now two idiots are arguing.
It’s time to move past the debate and into action.
They ought to call in the Ohio National Guard. We don’t put up with rioters who bring rocks to a gunfight…
Kent State! Kent State! Tin soldiers and Nixon’s coming!
