In 2004, 190 people were killed and 1,800 injured in a terrorist train bombing in Madrid. There was outrage at the horror. What happened substantively as a result? Not much.

Just sayin’.

Sigh.

Well, I guess they’ll all feel better in themselves for having done this. And isn’t that what really matters?

    Sadly, you are probably right.
It angers me greatly that these world “leaders” are parading around like it’s going to mean something. If they were truly “leaders”, the world wouldn’t be in this mess now, would it?
Angela Merkel? Cameron? Holder (ha-wonder why 0 didn’t go)? No, they won’t call it what it is and won’t admit the problem. In fact, they enable the problem!
Thank goodness the Canadian president and French prime minister seem to have a little more sense.

    Ooo Wow!

But the French are a totally different mind set from the Español. The French have already banned the wearing of the Muslim burka in public.

A million marchers yet not a single Parisian brave enough to hold up an “offensive” rally sign of Charlie’s Muhammad cartoon.

We are all NOT brave enough to be Charlie.

Thanks Professor for providing the feed.

I wish there were more French flags flying. If this was a rally in America after an attack, it would be a sea of U.S. flags. It’s almost like the French don’t believe in themselves any more — I hope that is not the case.

I don’t know anything about the French constitution, but I wish this outrage would result in the French passing the American 1st Amendment (and the 2nd) word for word.

Marches are meaningless.
What are they willing to do to defend themselves, aside from walking in a group?
Will they do what is required to rid France of the scourge?
My bet is no, but I hope I am wrong.

France ‘war’ on jihad…Too little too late?

This article asks three questions concerning whether the ‘genie’ of Islamic extremism in Europe can be put back into the bottle and whether the same problem is heading to the US?

Turns out, sadly, when you participate in these big crowds, you need to don adult diapers.

It also doesn’t amount to a hill of beans. Nor will Hollande be helped, politically, by this PR event.

As to france, I still remember Emile Zola’s book, “Ja Accuse” … about the Dryfus Affair. Dryfus was a Jew who prided himself on being a french officer. Was found guilty just the same. And, spent time on Devil’s Island. When he came back, his family didn’t recognize him.

It’s a pretty good indicator that the french have been antisemitic for a very long time.

Fun watching world leaders sprint to get in front of this parade.

If these leaders will go home and begin to face the real threat, backing off their insane multiculturalism, they might begin to make progress. Also, in addition to cracking down on Muslim extremism, the French need to face the endemic Jew-hating which disfigures their nation, Muslim or otherwise.

Given the enthusiasm for pointing out the “nice” Muslims and saying “Look, the terrorists aren’t really following Islam,” there is clearly a lot of resistance to the idea that Islam itself is the root of the problem and that the large numbers of Muslims living in Europe are intrinsically perilous to European civilization.

While Westerners are eager to point out Muslims marching with them, Muslims (and their leftist allies) are popping up on the Twitter thread to say “The Jews did it!! Netanyahu is responsible!”

It’s the typical Islamic blame-shifting: Find a Jew behind any problem and any Islamic atrocity. Never acknowledge the evil being done by Hamas. Never reaximine the hatred taught in the Koran, the haditha, the mosques, the whole “Palestinian” cultural apparatus, etc.

Oh, I hope every one of the malignant b@stards makes a tweet or Facebook post, and I hope somebody is busy taking names.

I have been noticing that, starting about the time of the last war between Hamas and the Israelis, that the actions of the Islamists were getting criticism from an increasingly vocal chorus of Muslims. It’s as if some sort of taboo had finally been lifted, or else there had been a policy change in the MSM, allowing the voices that had been there all along to come through.

Further, “ISIS” declared a Caliphate, and was met with derision.

Also, FOX carried the information that, in Paris, the local clerics co-operated with the police, so that the “no-go” zones were temporarily suspended.

Finally, a clear demand seems to have coalesced from the world-wide discussion about what to do about Islamic terrorism: The clerics must change what is being taught in their name.

We may be seeing the end of the beginning.

After 1400 years, will they finally start teaching that Mohammed is a horrible example to follow; that all those commands to fight infidels until they “feel themselves subdued” are null and void; that “unbelievers” are not really the “worst of creatures” and all the Koranic passages happily predicting in graphic detail the torments they will face are just fiction; that killing “infidels” is no longer the only sure way to paradise; that apostasy should not bring the death penalty; that Muslims have no right to expect non-Muslims to adhere to Islamic blasphemy rules or to refrain from saying anything that puts Islam in a bad light; that the non-Islamic world is no longer “the house of war” and Muslims are no longer commanded to “invite” infidels to become Muslim and attack them if they don’t?

When all that is gone, Islam is not really Islam anymore. It is not “submission.”

Muslims have had many centuries to turn their religion into something civilized. The trend over the last few decades has been toward more severity and barbarism. The Muslims who began immigrating into European cities decades ago by and large did not seem extreme or threatening; their offspring have become more so.

From time to time, some Muslims fret publicly that terrorism is “making Islam look bad,” though often with a “yes-but”: “But it’s wrong to insult the prophet.” The OIC has not abandoned the effort to globalize Islamic law against blasphemy, and the majority of Muslims apparently still want to see a world governed by sharia.

Muslims have a very long way to go to demonstrate that the rest of us ought to trust them to live among use. It is not enough to say tolerant things and act more civilized in the short term. Given the long history of Islamic conquest and savagery and hate, it will take generations of steadily improving conduct by Muslims to demonstrate that they really have civilized their creed, permanently.

Until then, the rest of us should do everything we can to minimize the Muslim presence in our countries, and certainly stop yielding to Islamic demands for “respect” until Muslims generally show equal respect for the rest of us.

“French Muslim children REFUSED to participate in schools’ moment of silence for terror victims,” The Right Scoop, January 11, 2015

French Muslims children were also caught on camera cheering and laughing over the siege at the kosher deli.

These children are not extremists. They are displaying normative Islamic values. It will take generations to achieve any meaningful reform of those values, provided that a serious effort is even made — and how many more Western cities will be destroyed in the meantime?
