EPP had urged SCOTUS to take the case of parents denied the right to record school conferences: "parents who have inquired into secretive school policies have been sued, charged with outrageous financial bills simply for requesting school records that are statutorily mandated to be open to the public, and harassed at both public and secretive meetings of school administrators"

Disney challenged legislation taking over Reedy Creek District, claiming retaliation for Disney exercising First Amendment rights. Judge quoting binding precedent: “when a statute is facially constitutional, a plaintiff cannot bring a free-speech challenge by claiming that the lawmakers who passed it acted with a constitutionally impermissible purpose.”
