War Secretary Pete Hegseth released a video on Friday announcing that the administration has designated Confucius Institutes a national security threat.
Senate Republicans made huge strides on this issue toward the end of Trump’s first term, and it is great to see the administration come back to it with a solid finish. These organizations were on college campuses across the country and were known for disseminating propaganda and committing intellectual theft.
As Hegseth points out in the video below, even though they were banned, they came back under different names, just like DEI.
From Newsmax:
Pentagon Labels Confucius Institutes Security ThreatThe War Department has designated Chinese-funded cultural centers on university campuses known as Confucius Institutes as a threat to U.S. national security, War Secretary Pete Hegseth said Friday.Washington has long accused Confucius Institutes of being Chinese propaganda tools and has taken steps to crack down on them.Hegseth, in a video posted on social media, alleged that Confucius Institutes were operating under disguise at U.S. universities and that the Pentagon had added them to its list of institutions that threaten national security.”It turns out that 80 new propaganda cells across 30 universities had popped up using different names and different charters, but with the same mission: to steal intellectual property and to infiltrate the minds of American students,” Hegseth said.
More from NewsCord:
The Pentagon’s designation came as Washington continued to accuse Confucius Institutes of being Chinese propaganda tools and of operating under disguise at US universities. TRT World said US Congress restricted funding to universities that welcome Confucius Institutes, which are funded by Beijing to teach the Chinese language but are accused of presenting only the communist government’s worldview.Arab News described the Pentagon action as the latest escalation in a multi-agency campaign and tied it to an earlier State Department move on August 13, 2020, when the State Department designated the Washington, D.C.-based Confucius Institute US Center (CIUS) as a foreign mission of the People’s Republic of China (PRC). Arab News also said the State Department cited the opacity and state-directed nature of CIUS and required it to submit regular reports detailing its personnel, recruitment, funding, and operational footprints in the US.
