AAUP Gives First Ever Political Endorsement to Abdul El-Sayed

The AAUP has been captured by the far left and this is proof.

Campus Reform reports:

Largest faculty union abandons 110 years of neutrality, backs winning socialistThe nation’s largest faculty organization entered partisan politics for the first time in its 110-year history by endorsing Michigan Democrat Abdul El-Sayed in the U.S. Senate primary. Days later, El-Sayed won the Democratic nomination, giving the American Association of University Professors (AAUP) its first successful national political endorsement. The AAUP announced July 30 that it was making its “first-ever national political endorsement,” praising El-Sayed as a champion of tuition-free higher education and academic freedom while encouraging members to support his campaign. The endorsement marks a historic shift for the AAUP, a tax-exempt 501(c)(6) professional association that has long positioned itself as a national advocate for academic freedom, shared governance, and faculty rights rather than an electoral organization. The association also operates the separately incorporated AAUP Foundation, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that supports educational initiatives and is prohibited from endorsing political candidates under federal tax law.The group stated that it was reversing course to endorse Michigan Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed. While El-Sayed is not a member of the Democratic Socialists of America, he has appeared at multiple party events and has even been described as “a longtime friend of Detroit DSA.”El-Sayed won his primary challenge in the Michigan Senate race with 48.5% of the vote at the time the race was called. In the Ann Arbor precinct where the University of Michigan campus sits, El-Sayed won 100% of the total votes cast.
