UVA Med School Offers Program Instructing Students to Perform Gender Transition Care

The epidemic of gender confusion continues to run rampant in medical schools in the United States. In a recent analysis by CriticalRace.org, the University of Virginia School of Medicine was revealed to offer a curriculum program that directly instructs students to deliver gender transition treatment.

As part of the Department of Family Medicine’s “Family Medicine Gender and Sexual Health Area of Concentration,” students are reportedly given instruction in “holistic care for LGBTQ+ patients in the primary care setting.” This includes several program “objectives” that address so-called ‘gender affirming care.’

Students in this concentration are expected to “demonstrate competence in gender health, including… providing patient-specific counseling regarding gender affirming care and setting tailored treatment goals,” “performing both initial and ongoing management of gender-affirming hormone therapy,” and “counseling, coordinating mental health resources, and providing post-surgical care of gender-affirming surgeries.”

All students in the program are also “required” to enroll in a “Transgender Health Elective” in order to graduate.

“Gender-affirming care” programs such as this have begun to emerge in recent years, as highlighted by the release of a new medical school report from CriticalRace.org. The report found that 10 of the U.S. News Top 25-ranked Medical Schools directly provide some form of gender-affirming care programming to students.

Among the worst examples was the University of Kansas Health System, which hosts the “Adult Comprehensive Gender Care and Surgery Fellowship,” which instructs students “in the full range of adult gender surgical care.” Surgeries taught to students include “genital reconstruction” surgeries such as “feminizing surgery including vaginoplasty/vulvoplasty,” and “masculinizing surgery including metoidioplasty and phalloplasty.”

The University of Kansas Health System has recently removed this fellowship from its website, while it is unclear if it is still being offered at the school.

Managing Editor of CriticalRace.org Kemberlee Kaye called the report findings “egregious and troubling,” in an interview with the Daily Wire.

“I think the entire issue is egregious and troubling, quite frankly, and the fact that our medical schools are willingly engaging in this and promoting it,” said Kaye.

“These kinds of reports illuminate how deeply this pernicious ideology is entrenched in our institutions, whether it’s just the higher education programs or medical schools.”
